General Motors GM +1.21% has provided more fodder for Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra’s return engagement with Congress. The Detroit-based automaker on Monday recalled another 3.16 million 2000 to 2014 model year vehicles, according to a U.S. regulatory filing. It was the second recall over consecutive business days, coming on top of a recall Friday of more than 500,000 Camaro sports cars plus other models. GM also said it now expects to record recall-related costs of $700 million for the second quarter, up from a previous estimate of $400 million. GM said it’s recalling the newest batch of vehicles because

GM is famous for putting inferior parts into their vehicles. Apparently when the govt. took over no one was even watching the disaster as it unfolded. I hope they GO OFFICIALLY BANKRUPT and ALL the union thugs lose their jobs!

Since President Barack Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued 2,827 new final regulations, equaling 24,915 pages in the Federal Register, totaling approximately 24,915,000 words. The Gutenberg Bible is only 1,282 pages and 646,128 words. Thus, the new EPA regulations issued by the Obama Administration contain 19 times as many pages as the Bible and 38 times as many words. The Obama EPA regulations have 22 times as many words as the entire Harry Potter series, which includes seven books with 1,084,170 words. They have 5,484 times as many words as the U.S. Constitution,

Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson -- who recently left CBS News and accused the outlet of a reticence to criticize the Obama administration -- appeared on C-SPAN´s Q&A Sunday evening to discuss her forthcoming book Stonewalled: One Reporter´s Fight for Truth in Obama´s Washington. Attkisson, who recently joined the Heritage Foundation´s Daily Signal website as a senior independent contributor, explained that between an opaque Obama administration and timid "powers that be" in corporate liberal media outlets, journalists like her interested in doggedly pursuing the truth have a rougher go at things than before.

Chelsea Clinton lives a charmed life, but don´t be fooled: secretly, she´s not attached to the oodles of money she and her hedge fund manager husband make each year, the former first daughter said in an interview published over the weekend. Philanthropy is her true passion, Clinton said, and that´s why she permanently left Wall Street to join the Clinton Foundation, which she runs with her parents, former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton. ´I was curious if I could care about [money] on some fundamental level, and I couldn’t,´ Clinton told The Telegraph. ´That wasn’t the metric of success

Republicans dropped a hammer on IRS Commissioner John Koskinen during a testy hearing covering the disappearance of emails tied to the agency´s tea party targeting scandal. The emails, covering the period January 2009 to April 2011, belonged to embattled former official Lois Lerner and could shed light on whether an expansive scheme to single out conservative groups for special scrutiny was guided by members of Congress or administration officials outside the IRS. ´The committee requested all of Lois Lerner’s emails over a year ago,´ said House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa. ´And we subpoenaed the emails in August 2013 and

In this case, the bear in question is President Barack Obama, who has lately been comparing his yearnings to escape the White House security bubble to an animal breaking free from his cage. And his objects of pursuit once out in the wild include a good burger, some casual Mexican and a nice cup of hot tea. On Monday, Obama rounded up a few participants at a White House working families summit for a short walk to a local Chipotle restaurant, where they swapped stories while enjoying the fast-food

On June 22 Washington Post reporter Robert Barnes argued that the Supreme Court created the individual right to keep and bear arms in 2008, via District of Columbia v. Heller. No attempt to grapple with our Founding Father´s words or intentions was made, but Barnes did make clear his belief that Justice Anthony Kennedy will be key to restricting the right the court allegedly created. Barnes makes this point by citing UCLA law professor Adam Winkler, who notes Kennedy voted with the majority in Heller, thereby "establishing the individual gun ownership right." But Winkler also contends that "it was Kennedy

At the end of the Civil War, but before the pernicious reach of Jim Crow undermined the Union Army’s battlefield victory, former slaves and free blacks found themselves in possession of a most precious right -- the right to vote. It didn’t matter if a man had been a war hero in the famed, all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment or a house servant in a Southern plantation. All that mattered was that he was a man. To say that this development didn’t sit well with the progressive-minded women of this country is an understatement. By 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2012, when Hillary Clinton received a call from President Obama, she was one of the most thoroughly briefed officials in Washington on the unfolding disaster in Benghazi, Libya. (Snip) She had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11. However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. With less than two months before Election Day, he was still boasting that he had al?Qaeda on the run. If the truth about Benghazi became known, it would blow that argument out of the water.

I still think President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, even though for 14 years he allowed his literary agent to circulate a bio blurb stating he was born in Kenya, and even though for many years he attended a church where his pastor friend shouted such things as “God damn America!” I still think that he just pretended to be Kenyan to be cool, to sell books and, perhaps, to get a foreign student scholarship at those colleges from which he refuses to release his transcripts. He’s probably not actually Kenyan. But as I speculated

There are times that I have senior moments and forget certain names and events but after the recent Obama Iraq war implosion, I´m convinced most political pundits are suffering from them as well. What is unusual is that this revision of history is being committed by conservatives who should know better. Recent commentary by Glenn Beck, George Will and Charles Krauthammer indicate that they have significant memory lapses about why we went to war in Iraq. They now suggest that it was a wrong decision whereas my complaint is that we took too long to invade and oust Saddam Hussein.

All the time I was growing up in Atlanta, the face of Robert E. Lee was taking shape on the side of an enormous granite mountain just outside town. It was only much later that I began to question his sanctity, and then to hate what he stood for. When I was in elementary school, the face of Lee on Stone Mountain was a rough-cut thing, weathering and wasting as the generation that began it in 1912—a generation

The decision this past week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to rescind federal trademark protections for the Redskins may ultimately tip the balance in the controversy over the 80-year-old name of Washington’s football team. If so, that would be a shame. Not because there’s insufficient reason to consider the name “disparaging to Native Americans,” as the patent office determined. Many of us recoil at the reference to skin color as a team identity. The problem is that the Redskins case is just the latest example of a federal agency going beyond its brief to inappropriately insert itself in

US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Iraq´s capital, Baghdad as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across north-western Iraq. In Egypt on Sunday, Mr Kerry warned that Sunni militants Isis´ "ideology of violence and repression is a threat not only to Iraq but to the entire region". On Sunday rebels--spearheaded by Isis militants--captured border crossings to Syria and Jordan. The strategically important airport in the northern Tal Afar has also fallen. The town controls the main road from the Syrian border to Mosul, Iraq´s second biggest city, which was captured by the rebels two weeks ago.

The least loved institution in America today is the U.S. Senate, and one of the reasons it is reviled is a zero-sum approach to women´s medical care. It´s time we changed that and adopt modern policies that make sense instead of using women´s medical issues as an election-year power play. One of the most rational ways for Washington to break this gridlock is to approve oral contraception for over-the-counter purchases by adults. Since "the pill" was first approved 44 years ago, it´s been one of the most proven and tested pharmaceuticals of our time. It is safe, reliable, effective, and presents
