Going AWOL in the ‘war on women’
Washington Times, by Wesley Pruden

Barack Obama could use a little relief. The world is crumbling around him, much of it the result of his presidential misfeasance at home and abroad. The chickens coming to roost on Pennsylvania Avenue are neither ideological nor partisan. Evil men are bold and quick to take advantage of timidity and weakness. There’s a growing consensus, and it includes Democrats — the president is in over his head. He probably scares himself. Like all second-term presidents, Mr. Obama naturally feels liberated from partisan concerns, free to do what he likes. He can thumb his nose at public opinion because he never again

Obama won´t do anything to go against the teachings of Mohammed, who was a pedophile. He´s muslim through and through. What the muzzies do to this woman is what should happen to Moochelle and Barry´s daughters.

You can´t blame Barry for this. He has no knowledge of this woman´s plight.

He hasn´t seen it on TV yet.

When atrocity invites
atrocity in Middle East

Atrocity invites atrocity, and just when we think we’ve reached the bottom of the homo sapiens order, we discover there’s a bottom beneath the bottom. The kidnapping and murder of children is the vilest of all crimes, and why the perpetrators of such indecency are held as the lowest of the low in nearly every prison in the world. There is honor, of a kind, even among the killing breed. The latest indecencies at the bottom of the human order have taken the lives of four young men — three Israelis and a Palestinian. The reaction to these tragedies is eloquent testimony

Redskins lose trademark, Harry Reid
says team will be ´forced´ to change name

In what some see as the first step to forcing the Washington Redskins football team to change their name, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday cancelled six federal trademarks of the team name because it´s “disparaging” to Native Americans. “Petitioners have shown by a preponderance of the evidence that a substantial composite of Native Americans found the term REDSKINS to be disparaging,” said the decision. Fans, however, won’t see any immediate change — even if Daniel Snyder’s team eventually loses in court. That’s because all the order will do is eliminate the trademark the team has on merchandise. The Redskins are expected to appeal.

Aberdeen, Md.—Soon, Maryland will be the home to a couple of new landmarks. Actually, sky-marks. As Mike Schuh reports, two large blimps will soon rise over Harford County and stay put. Radar blimps like these have been used on the battlefield to track the enemy, and in the Caribbean to intercept drug runners. Testing in Utah is complete. Now they’re being packed up and sent to Maryland. (snip) “On a clear day, you can see them for up to 50 miles,” Luster said. With a range from Richmond to Staten Island, privacy experts have concerns. “That kind of tracking technology raises privacy concerns, and if the

The liberal pundits, Republican elites, Democratic politicians and K Street lobbyists are having a hard time ‘splainin’ how Eric Cantor lost his seat in Virginia this week, since it couldn’t have been about immigration. He took such a drubbing — it was a landslide in anybody’s book — that there must have been an evil reason. The farther the wiseheads live from Virginia, the more certain they are that they know what they’re talking about. Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, a Democrat with infallible insights into the mind of the Republican voter, says Mr. Cantor lost because he was a

A funny thing is happening on the way to the restoration the Clinton White House. Discerning Democrats are discovering that Hillary, for all her bewitching feminine charm, just ain’t a patch on ol’ Bubba. She doesn’t have Bubba’s sure-footed skill on the stump, his roguish ability to disarm critics, his manipulation of language to step out of the way of incoming bullets, bombs and nuclear missiles. He has survival skills that other politicians can only envy and that Hillary has never shown she has a gift for. Miss Hillary sat down the other day with Diane Sawyer, ordinarily an interviewer eager to

Brix, France — Some of the veterans attending the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings here in France have fascinating stories. Take George Ciampa, the most vibrant and spry 89-year-old I have ever met. In 1944, he landed in Normandy as a soldier assigned to the 84th Graves Registration Unit. (snip) This week, George received a call from the White House, who said they knew he would be over in France during D-Day, and wondered if he would attend a private meeting the White House was arranging for veterans with President Obama. George thought about it for awhile and concluded he just couldn’t.

Forget about Barack Obama’s ultra-liberal policies — should Americans now be worried about the mental health of the current occupant of the White House? That was the alarming suggestion Fox Business Network viewers heard Tuesday evening. Talking about the bewildering decision to trade five “high risk” Taliban leaders for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl on Lou Dobbs Tonight, psychologist Dr. Gina Loudon said she has become “very, very concerned” that President Obama has become “irrational, erratic and perhaps not exactly what we might want to deem sane.” [Video and transcript after the jump.] Host Lou Dobbs asked Loudon about the case of U.S.

U.S. fertility is not recovering from the financial crisis — and demographers aren’t sure why. The fertility rate fell to a record low 62.9 births per 1,000 women aged 15-44 in 2013, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. The total number of births, at 3.96 million, inched up by a mere 4,000 from 2012, the first increase since the financial crisis. But the total fertility rate, or TFR, the average number of children a woman would have during her child-bearing years, fell to just 1.86, the lowest rate in 27 years. TFR is considered the best metric of

With public school students using #ThanksMichelle to tweet photos of their skimpy, stomach-turning school lunches, I decided to look at what Michelle Obama´s daughters are served at Sidwell Friends school, and it turns out the girls dine on lunches from menus designed by chefs. While the Obama daughters have enjoyed dishes like chicken coconut soup, local butternut squash soup, crusted tilapia, they also get their fill of what Mrs. Obama might consider junk food. This week, for example, they´ll enjoy meatball subs, BBQ wings, and ice cream, in addition to chicken curry, deviled egg salad and the intriguing "Chef´s Choice."

Another great national crisis is at hand: We’re running out of white folks. There just aren’t enough of them to suit the Democrats. Last week the nation observed the 60th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, the declaration of the U.S. Supreme Court that legal segregation of the races in the public schools is unconstitutional. The court followed that later with an order for the states to move with “all deliberate speed” to desegregate the schools. We’ve come a long way in the six decades since; everyone agrees on that much. Today there’s no such required segregation and the idea that

Barack Obama fell in love with the sound of his voice at an early age. It’s the love that dares shout its name, and will not die even when everybody else has quit listening. The president traveled this week to Hollywood, the reliable refueling stop for Democratic candidates, and preached to show-biz friends who paid up to $65,000 each for supper and had to eat it in a tent in the backyard. Everybody who was anybody was there, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Tom Rothman, James Brolin. Barbra Streisand, no doubt hoping Bubba might drop by unexpectedly, was there, too.

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Sarah Palin on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of President Obama, writing in a Breitbart op-ed that the influx of young illegal immigrants over the southern border "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´no mas.´ " Mixed/careless metaphors aside, this is nothing but bad news for Republicans — especially four months until the 2014 election. Palin is hardly the first GOP politician to raise the issue of impeachment over the past couple years. Others include Sens. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Reps. Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. "In theory, you could report out a resolution tomorrow and vote on it," said a House GOP aide on Tuesday. "But that is not the approach [the leaders] want to take." Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. This drawn-out script builds toward a potentially dramatic floor vote held just days, or even hours, before the House adjourns on

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it. Iraq changed from a safe, stable ally (just ask Obama) to a terrorist haven, one of the reasons why, though no fellow Democrats seem likely to edge her, her chances of winning the White House seem dim. So just who is in charge in Barack Obama´s White House? ABC´s Jonathan Karl on Tuesday asked White House press secretary why the letter from the White House to Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) inviting him to a meeting with President Obama regarding the Texas border crisis was from Valerie Jarrett. While it´s routine for staff to draft such letters for elected officials, matters of such magnitude and to other elected officials of stature are almost always in the name of the principle. The president´s spokesman, when asked why the letter was from Jarrett rather than the President, said "Valerie spends a

Despite Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson vowing to "stem the tide" of unaccompanied illegal minors across the southern border with Mexico, thousands more are expected to enter the United States by the end of the year. With the system being overwhelmed, Border Patrol agents are concerned about minors who have admitted to being MS-13 members, a brutal street gang from El Salvador that has been successful in infiltrating American communities. Agents are also concerned about minors who have committed acts like torture and murder in their home countries before heading north to the United States. "We have six minors in Nogales

Screenwriter James Vanderbilt will make his directorial debut with the film, which will also star Cate Blanchett. Robert Redford has signed on to play Dan Rather in Truth, a film based on the 2005 memoir Truth and Duty: The Press, the President, and the Privilege of Power. The book, written by Rather´s producer Mary Mapes, centers on the firestorm that erupted in September of 2004 after Rather reported that George W. Bush had received special treatment while serving in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, a report that was based on documents that turned out to be forgeries.

Kirsten Powers snapped at Bill O’Reilly tonight after he told her she doesn’t know what she’s talking about on immigration, and told O’Reilly she’s tired of him mocking liberals every day on every single issue just because “they care about people.” Powers argued that O’Reilly’s getting his facts wrong and that immigrants coming to the U.S. back in the day (like the Irish) were poor and uneducated, much like the immigrants O’Reilly is so worried about today. O’Reilly dismissed Powers and told her, “You don’t seem to really know what you’re talking about.” That really set Powers off. “I am

President Barack Obama does not believe his temporary amnesty program for illegal immigrant children has exacerbated the border crisis even though the number of illegal immigrant kids crossing the border spiked the year after he unilaterally enacted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012. In fact, Obama thinks programs like DACA and a comprehensive amnesty bill are ways to solve the border crisis. Addressing the press Wednesday after meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis in Dallas, Obama, when asked if programs like DACA have caused or contributed to the crisis,
