Obamacare Anti-Conscience Mandate:
Court Says Being Complicit
in Sin Isn’t a Sin

Last week, in Michigan Catholic Conference v. Burwell, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit rejected the appeal of Catholic nonprofit groups in their challenge to the Obamacare anti-conscience mandate. The court got it wrong by second-guessing the religious beliefs of these groups. Formal houses of worship and their integrated auxiliaries (e.g., church-run soup kitchens) are exempt from this mandate—which requires employers to pay for employee health insurance coverage that includes contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs—and other nonprofit religious employers are eligible for an “accommodation.” Under the accommodation, employers must self-certify to a third-party administrator that they have a

So, the courts want to wade into morality and religion, do they?
No thank you.
The 6th Court of Appeals might want to read Mark 12:17 if these topics are so interesting to them.

It seems that Michael Jacobson, watch commander of the food police and executive director of the anti-corporate Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), hates food. On any given day, he is battling with berries, clams, fat free and fat laden foods. A strict vegetarian, Jacobson has made a lucrative career of attacking America’s nutritional products and scaring hungry consumers. In its last IRS filing, CSPI claimed a budget of nearly $20 million, not including Jacobson’s speaking, writing, and appearance fees. Their latest target is salt, and his agenda-driven scare tactics have influenced government bureaucrats who share his vendetta against U.S.

From the San Jose Mercury News story: KPIX reported that she is receiving round-the-clock care and has responded to commands, moving specific parts of her body when asked.(Snip) But if? these changes are indeed occurring–which will need to be demonstrated by objective medical testing–she isn’t dead. A conservative challenges two “establishment” Republicans in the race for the House’s No. 3 leadership post. While the contest for House majority leader has come down to upstart challenger Raúl Labrador of Idaho against apparent favorite Kevin McCarthy of California, three lawmakers are contending for the slot just below it — and two of them will go on to a final match. McCarthy’s decision to give up the post of majority whip to seek the No. 2 position of majority leader set the Republican conference in motion to find the Californian’s replacement, with three names emerging for Thursday’s election: Deputy Whip Peter

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s new book has been in the spotlight over what she says about Benghazi. That chapter, which starts on page 382, is not the only fascinating passage in Hard Choices. Consider, for example, what Hillary says about Islamists. “The term Islamist generally refers to people and parties who support a guiding role for Islam in politics and government. It covers a wide spectrum, from those who think Islamic values should inform public policy decisions to those who think that all laws should be judged or even formulated by Islamic authorities to conform to Islamic law. America’s two political parties seem to be coming apart. That´s in contrast to the relatively stable competition of the last 20 years, when Democrats have won four of six presidential elections and Republicans won House majorities in eight of ten congressional contests, always by less than landslide margins. The parties´ stands on issues have remained familiar from one cycle to the next. That pattern seems likely to hold this year, with Republicans favored to hold their House majority and with a better than 50 percent chance of gaining the Senate majority that eluded them in 2010 and 2012. But the outlook for

Agents from the Minneapolis office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are collecting information from Cedar-Riverside residents as part of an ongoing investigation spurred by recent allegations of American citizens joining Syrian rebels overseas. WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Patent Office ruled Wednesday that the Washington Redskins nickname is "disparaging of Native Americans" and that the team´s federal trademarks for the name must be canceled. The 2-1 ruling comes after a campaign to change the name has gained momentum over the past year. The team doesn´t immediately lose trademark protection and is allowed to retain it during an appeal. Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has refused to change the team´s name, citing tradition, but there has been growing pressure including statements in recent months from President Barack Obama, lawmakers of both parties and civil rights groups.

In what some see as the first step to forcing the Washington Redskins football team to change their name, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday cancelled six federal trademarks of the team name because it´s “disparaging” to Native Americans. “Petitioners have shown by a preponderance of the evidence that a substantial composite of Native Americans found the term REDSKINS to be disparaging,” said the decision. Fans, however, won’t see any immediate change — even if Daniel Snyder’s team eventually loses in court. That’s because all the order will do is eliminate the trademark the team has on merchandise. The Redskins are expected to appeal.

Hillary Clinton´s minions are hard at work assembling a political machine and fine tuning it for another go at the White House. Mrs. Clinton is doing her part preparing for a run as well, churning out a bland memoir about the "hard choices" she faced as secretary of state and coyly positioning herself (again) as the inevitable nominee of the party. Here are five: 1) She´s just not that good at campaigning. If the last two gaffe-prone weeks have reminded us of anything about Hillary,
