Totally Unworthy Liberal Icons
Jewish World Review, by Alicia Colon

Original Article

Posted By:Drive, 6/16/2014 8:37:53 AM

There was a time when we would honor symbols of excellence that had some significant achievements that deserved our adulation. Whether it be enormous talent, superior intelligence, political or business success, etc. there would be something in the makeup of one´s character that generated praise. I am having a very difficult time figuring out now why so many liberal icons come up short on substance unless it´s thanks to media dishonesty. Two of the most dubious icons who continue to garner liberal endorsements are Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton.

I don´t agree that Fonda isn´t a fine actress. She has done some good work. So has Susan Sarandon and many other whacko liberals whose politics are in the terlet and who otherwise don´t have a brain among them. Good example is Barbra Streisand, whose gifted voice was that of an angel.

Many H´wood denizens are very talented people in what they do best: act and perform. But, like Barack Obama, they should stay out of what they don´t know. Having a spotlight on them gives them cache` among their followers; what they say matters to them not because they´re right, but because they´re famous.

I would dearly like to find a way to make conservatism cool. Many people like being rebels against the establishment. I´d like to see some very famous (non-politician) people come out for conservatism, openly and with utter confidence.

We are a nation of fame-seekers. Liberals have used this to great advantage. Why won´t conservatives?

Small detail but if Jane Fonda is 72-then she was still in her 20´s when she made that awful trip to Vietnam-late 20´s but not 35. Makes a small difference, old enough to take responsibility for what was the outcome of her little camera time, making the enemy of her country emboldened as they stepped up the torture of our POW´S. Wish she would stop calling herself a Christian-only God knows but I don´t see it.

Disagree with Fonda´s and Clinton´s being "unworthy liberal icons". They are perfect liberal icons -- they are, in their dishonesty, self-centeredness, contempt for their fellow Americans, and thoughtless embrace of 19th century radical European values, the living embodiments of liberalism.

"Jane Fonda and Hillary Clinton as icons boggle the mind."...Indeed!

The bottom line here?...In a truly just society, these notorious Dark Siders, The Duchess of Horndog and "Hanoi Jane," would still be confined to 80-square-foot cells in Leavenworth--finishing off their morning bowls of cornflakes in the penitentiary mess hall about now. End of discussion...Case closed!

My Dad and many other fine gentlemen who are Vietnam veterans still to this day have a few "choice" words for old Hanoi Jane. They also can not stand the PIAPS and my dad said some thingsabout her latest book that would make a sailor blush. Some things like birdcage liner, not fit to use as toilet paper, I´d rather touch toxic waste etc. He and his friends don´t agree that the two "ladies" aren´t totally unworthy liberal icons. Both are disgusting in their self importance and treatment of our military. Both of them can go pound sand as far as I´m concerned.

At a press conference last night, President Obama placed the blame for the border crisis on Republicans, saying that because they are trying to block his $3.8 billion supplemental appropriation, they are responsible for the mess. He further stated that passage of his immigration reform bill would solve the border crisis for 20 years. Daily Caller: The Republican Party, but not the White House, has the power to block the flood of at least 100,000 migrants from Central America, President Barack Obama repeatedly told the nation in a Wednesday night press conference. “Are folks more interested in politics, or are they more interested in

Hamas’ Interior Ministry has ordered residents of the Gaza Strip to remain in their houses if they are about to be bombed by the Israelis, a move that effectively turns citizens into human shields and is intentionally meant to boost the casualty rate, according to a copy of the order published by Hamas. Israel warns Gaza residents of air strikes before they take place so innocent civilians have time to flee and seek shelter. The latest Hamas order that citizens ignore Israel’s warnings and stay put is a clear effort by the terror group to increase the death count and apply pressure

Every now and then a scholarly journal retracts an article because of errors or outright fraud. In academic circles, and sometimes beyond, each retraction is a big deal. Now comes word of a journal retracting 60 articles at once. The reason for the mass retraction is mind-blowing: A “peer review and citation ring” was apparently rigging the review process to get articles published. You’ve heard of prostitution rings, gambling rings and extortion rings. Now there’s a “peer review ring.” The publication is the Journal of Vibration and Control (JVC). WASHINGTON — Lois Lerner, the former Internal Revenue Service official at the center of an investigation into the agency’s treatment of conservative political groups, may have used an internal instant-messaging system instead of email so that her communications could not be retrieved by investigators, Republican lawmakers said Wednesday. The accusation against Ms. Lerner, the former head of the agency’s division on tax exemption, came nearly a week after the I.R.S. gave investigators thousands of her emails, including some that were destroyed when her hard drive crashed in 2011 but were recovered from the accounts of people with whom she had corresponded. Aside from her unceremonious firing, former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson is perhaps best known for her assertion that the Obama administration is the most secretive of any she has covered, and in 22 years in Washington, that covers a lot of White Houses. There is simply no downside for Sarah Palin in calling for Barack Obama’s impeachment. She grabs a nice bit of media attention. She rallies her conservative base. She gets to talk about it on Fox. And since she holds no elective office, she doesn’t have to worry about whether her rhetorical broadside has the slightest chance of succeeding. In fact, the chances that the House will impeach a second straight Democratic president are extremely remote. But so what? Palin gets the issue and positions herself on the leading edge of anti-Obamaism. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor launched her attack yesterday

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it. Iraq changed from a safe, stable ally (just ask Obama) to a terrorist haven, one of the reasons why, though no fellow Democrats seem likely to edge her, her chances of winning the White House seem dim.
