President Obama´s desert trip

President Barack Obama is scheduled to fly out of the Coachella Valley with his wife and daughter on Monday morning, ending a sunny weekend of golf in Rancho Mirage. Although much of his trip was recreational, escalating violence in Iraq demanded the president´s attention on Sunday morning. Obama was briefed by White House officials before he teed off at Porcupine Creek, a private estate owned by billionaire Larry Ellison. The president spent the afternoon inside Thunderbird Heights, a gated community where the home of interior designer Michael S. Smith and his partner James Costos likely played host to the first

Is there NO end to the outright sycophantic-dishonesty of the "msm"?? Are we actually supposed to believe the most feckless-"pres" in the history of this country CARES what is going on ANYWHERE? President Bush was bashed daily for going to his ranch to cut down brush and this guy goes on multi-million vacations almost monthly and the "press" "reports" on how hard at WORK he is while talking on his "phone". Don´t know how this is going to end, but I have to believe SOME people in this country will one day put their video games down, turn off the TV and really pay attention to what is going on.

Well I feel better. The president is golfing all day, staying with two rich gay donors, passing out Hershey´s kisses with his seal and autograph to senile old women who think he´s God, and talking to Susan Rice daily for updates. What´s not to like?

Stories carefully placed in and lovingly published by the local Palm Springs paper to frame this as a "working vacaion".

"He may be on the golf course, folks, but he´s working every minute from the time he wakes to the time he goes to bed...." Yada, yada, yada.

These are fluff and stuff wrapped aaround WH releases. Propaganda. Nothing more.

Fed policy bans asking legal status

Nearly half of all illegal immigrant children don’t show up for their deportation hearings, federal officials testified to Congress on Wednesday, underscoring just how easy it is for those surging across the border right now to disappear into the shadows. The number could be even higher for the current surge of unaccompanied children flooding across the border, who are often released to illegal immigrant parents who have no incentive to bring their children to immigration courts. And federal authorities specifically refuse to ask the legal status of the parents or relatives who come to claim the children, officials acknowledged. “We

President Obama was involved in a mystifying incident when he shook hands with a man in a horse mask while meeting members of the public yesterday. Obama was pictured smiling and shaking hands with the prankster as he went on an unscheduled walkabout in Denver, Colorado. The mask became a popular internet meme a few years ago, when people started wearing the odd headgear in unusual settings and posting the pictures online. Scroll down for video -The reasons for his sartorial choice remained unclear. Obama´s Secret Service agents seemed to keep a close eye on him as he shook hands

No matter what happens in Wednesday´s World Cup semifinal between Argentina and the Netherlands, it will be tough to replace Germany´s 7-1 win over Brazil in the news cycle. The host country is still in shock at the record-setting defeat and it will be interesting to see how inspired the side are for Saturday´s third-place match. The shock of the victory reverberated around the world as Germany quickly raced out to a 5-0 lead 29 minutes into the match. Twitter, as you can imagine, was quite busy with fans around the world reacting to the stunning display. According to Twitter

A disgraced New Orleans politician is going from the Big Easy to the Big House. Former Mayor Ray Nagin was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted earlier this year on 20 counts of bribery, money laundering, fraud and tax evasion. The two-term mayor, who left office in 2010, was sentenced on the lighter side, said U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan. The Democrat needs to report to Oakdale Federal Prison — a three hour drive from New Orleans — on Sept. 8.

"How much does it cost for the president to actually go to the border?" asked Stephanie Cutter, co-host of CNN´s "Crossfire" on Tuesday night. "And you´re willing to waste that taxpayer money? It´s taking Border Patrol agents off the job, so they´re not projecting the border. Hundreds of local policemen...to protect him -- and negotiation with the Mexican government to secure the other side of the border." She spoke on the same day that President Obama asked Congress for $3.7 billion in taxpayer money to mitigate the crisis that many Republicans have blamed on Obama´s lax enforcement of immigration law.

Houston – Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has joined Texas Gov. Cruz took to Twitter to invite Obama to take a look at the border itself amid a growing immigration crisis along the southern border with Mexico. “If President Obama wants to have a real border meeting with @GovernorPerry, here are a couple suggested detours,” Cruz tweeted on Tuesday. The tales of one violent weekend in New York are by turns familiar, surreal and heartbreaking. And they’re growing in number this year. There’s Deleta Crawford, paralyzed from the waist down by a stray bullet after grocery shopping. Ibrahim Diabate, guilty only of working on his jump shot. Renee Shaw, one of four wounded at a joyous neighborhood picnic. The three were carrying on their normal lives until in an instant they became gunshot victims. There were drive-by shootings, and gang disputes, and bullets fired through a third-floor apartment window. Three more victims, in a particularly cruel twist, were targeted

When President Obama gets outside and tries to meet real people, the White House likes to say that "the bear is loose" -- and such was the case Tuesday in Denver. During a night out in the Mile High City, Obama munched pizza with supporters, greeted residents on a downtown street, and shot some pool. First came a stop at a popular spot called the Wazee Supper Club, where Obama shared pizza with five people who wrote him letters. The president also roamed the restaurant greeting patrons, at one point complimenting a bartender´s multi-hued facial hair by saying, "that´s a

A bad case of whiplash. That’s what it feels like watching the Obama Administration talk about immigration enforcement. Two weeks ago, Obama told ABC News that most of the recent illegal border crossers would be sent home. Then on Sunday, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson refused to answer straightforward questions about deporting them. And now as the President seeks an additional $3.8 billion from Congress to deal with the crisis, the White House is trying to convince us anew that they are serious about enforcement. Right, and if you like your health insurance plan, you can keep it. “The immigration

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.” Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. Discrediting the price paid for America’s exceptionalism over our history, he’s given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally. WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame. (Snip) In other words, if Obama goes goes to the border, he owns the problem. If he doesn't, he's blasted for a lack of leadership.
