Earthquake: the Cantor story that
caught the political world by surprise

Breitbart Big Government, by Jonathan Strong

Earlier today in the Capitol, Majority Leader Eric Cantor´s press aides did not seem the least bit perturbed. Virginia political guru Larry Sabato´s political newsletter said the question was whether he would get 60 percent. Even Breitbart – one of the only publications to cover the race seriously – downplayed primary challenger David Brat´s chances of victory. But as the results began to stream in, the entire political world watched with utter shock: the sitting Majority Leader was being deposed by a political novice economics professor with no money. In a election cycle about the Establishment striking back, one of the

Cantor is gone, unless he tries a "Murkowski". I doubt that "lightning" will strike twice.

Could McConnell be next?

I still prefer the GOP to hold the House and win the Senate, but the RINOs - including Cochran in MS, Lamar(!) here in TN, and a few others - must be taken to the woodshed.

I truly can´t remember being this encouraged in a long time. Cantor has been there since 2001! I know how disappointed we have been in recent elections. This gives me renewed hope. There sure has been a shortage of that lately.

Brit Hume just said that this effectively kills immigration for the Republicans, which he said wasn´t good. Really Brit?? Sometimes his comments shock me. But remember, we still have a lame duck congress. That is ripe for all kinds of shenanigans.

Disappointing to hear the Fox News comments about how the Democrats are now ´giddy´ that they don´t have to run against Cantor. I now realize that Britt Hume is an Establishment anti-Tea party Republican. Now we are hearing that the 11% spread is ´very very small´. No. It isn´t.

Sorry for second post, but Bret Baier just said on Fox that a majority leader has never been defeated in a primary in the history of our country! So that makes this even more shocking. Who knew it was history making. Cantor must really be licking his wounds. I won´t miss his wishy-washy yapping and constantly trying to be on both sides of the fence. He found out that doesn´t work.

Cantor is from a very conservative GOP district. Brat should have no problem winning in the fall if he campaigns like he did for the primary.
Cantor was out of touch with his district. He lives in Northern VA now, I guess he felt all powerful.
Brit Hume and others representing Fox are too cosy with those in power. They go to all the same parties, live in echo chambers, all thinking the same way. They have no idea how the average citizen thinks. They sought to blame this on the weather. HA!
Eric Cantor´s remarks at his district convention a few weeks ago were greeted with boos. He should have understood he had a problem. I am thrilled he lost.

Yes, #12: He beat Bevin in March, but can he win a close race with Grimes in NOvember without conservative support? Some of us would rather sacrifice his seat and take the risk in winning back the Senate, rather than see his kind of "leadership" continue. After all, Mitch has already pledged to restore the filibuster rule. Why? Let the Dems sleep in the bed that they made.

At least immigration "reform" is dead in Congress, for now. If the Emperor tries to implement it via executive fiat, that will only backfire. Immigration is a third-rail issue for all Americans, Democrats included. Let the Emperor find that out the hard way.
