(Video) This 2 minute ad is slated to run during the NBA Finals. It takes on the tried-and-true public relations angle of speaking for everyone in the group without actually consulting everyone in the group. While no one should intentionally disrespect anyone else, the Redskins did not select their team name out of disrespect, but out of respect. Arguing otherwise does not make any sense. Ask the four Navajo Code Talkers of World War II who were invited and attended a Monday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins on November 25, 2013.

Five American troops were killed in an apparent friendly fire airstrike in Afghanistan, the Pentagon confirmed Tuesday, marking one of the deadliest such incidents of the nearly 13-year-old war. "Five American troops were killed yesterday during a security operation in southern Afghanistan," Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement. "Investigators are looking into the likelihood that friendly fire was the cause. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of these fallen." The troops were special operation forces, according to a coalition official. He asked that his name be withheld because he is not authorized to

Insurgents seize Iraqi city of

BEIRUT — Insurgents seized control early Tuesday of most of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, including the provincial government headquarters, offering a powerful demonstration of the mounting threat posed by extremists to Iraq’s teetering stability. Fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, overran the entire western bank of the city overnight after Iraqi soldiers and police apparently fled their posts, in some instances discarding their uniforms as they sought to escape the advance of the militants. In Baghdad, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced a “general mobilization” and asked parliament to declare a state

As tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors cross into the United States illegally from Mexico, the Obama administration admits it didn´t anticipate how many would come -- and it is asking Congress "for additional (taxpayer) resources to meet this challenge." "So there is a request to the appropriators for just over $2 billion to support HHS (Health and Human Services) facilities in particular," a senior administration official told reporters on a White House conference call Monday. The administration also is requesting another $160 million in "additional support" for the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Border Patrol

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that although she had disagreements with President Obama during her time at the State Department, she was largely proud of her career. “[I]n many areas he and I worked together and I think we saw positive results, I’m very proud of what we did during the time I was there,” she said. “I think we restored America;s leadership at a time when it was in quite dire straights.” In her new book Hard Choices, Clinton expresses disagreements with Obama on some of his less successful foreign policy endeavors, especially some of his choices

Sure, Mika Brzezinski is a big Fauxchohantas fan who´d love to see Senator 1/32nd take on Hillary Clinton. But regardless of her motivation, credit Mika for courageously critiquing Hillary. In a segment on today´s Morning Joe about Hillary´s "dead broke" blunder, Brzezinski scolded Hillary defenders Jeremy Peters [NYT], the egregious Thomas Roberts, Eugene Robinson and Joe Scarborough. Mika accused them of being "afraid" of the Clintons, of tiptoeing around them, and of holding their fire in hopes of being granted an interview with Hillary. View the startling video after the jump. So any little tip that Joseph Littlewood, 98, and wife Sally, 99, might care to impart about the secret of a long and happy partnership must surely be worth its weight in gold, pearls, rubies, silver and diamonds. And the advice is? ‘Argue,’ said Mrs Littlewood. ‘Argue lots but always remember to get over it.’ It may go against convention, but it seems to have worked for this couple. They have just celebrated 75 years of marriage – and 81 years as

Clinton: Benghazi probes ´more

WASHINGTON— Hillary Rodham Clinton said in an interview Monday that she feels emboldened to run for president because of Republican criticism of her handling of the deadly 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya. In an interview with ABC News, Clinton said the Benghazi inquiry from Republicans gives her a greater incentive to run for president because she considers the multiple investigations into the attacks "minor league ball" for a country of the United States´ stature. But she said she´s still undecided. "It´s more of a reason to run, because I do not believe our great country should be playing minor

WASHINGTON– Rep. Sam Johnson, a former prisoner of war, called President Obama’s deal to free U.S. soldier Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl “ill-advised, inappropriate and immature” in a letter he sent to his colleagues in Congress Monday. While U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif, and I don’t agree on much, we agree that President Obama broke the law when he released the five top terrorists in exchange for a detained American soldier,” he said. “Our mutual outrage over the President’s destructive and unilateral action proves that this is not a Democrat issue or a Republican issue. It is an American issue.” Taliban forces

During her big interview with Hillary Clinton Monday night, Diane Sawyer turned focus to Benghazi and grilled Clinton over the “systemic failure” of security on that fateful night. She asked Clinton whether she should have been more involved instead of delegating on security issues at the Benghazi compound. Clinton said there were serious security threats, but that’s true of compounds all around the world, and when Sawyer grilled her on how high a priority Benghazi would be, Clinton said it would place in the top 10, but not the top 5, security concerns to the State Department. Sawyer repeatedly pressed Clinton

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) filed legislation on Monday that would place a six month freeze on any federal government funding involved in the transfer of detainees from Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba. The White House is under considerable pressure and criticism from both sides of the aisle for releasing, without notifying Congress, five “high risk” Taliban leader detainees from Gitmo last week in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Bergdahl was in captivity for five years. Taliban insurgents captured him after he left his post in Afghanistan. Bergdahl’s former platoonmates allege that Bergdahl deserted his unit the night he disappeared. According

It’s no secret that the administration of President Barack Obama has encouraged cities and states not to pick up illegal aliens. They even took the state of Arizona to court to prevent them from doing what the federal government refuses to do. If it’s no secret to us, it’s entirely reasonable to assume it’s no secret to the millions in Mexico and Central America who would like nothing better than to come north and illegally cross the border in order to pay a visit to the folks — also illegal. The Obama administration gave the parents of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl extraordinary insider access to the military’s hunt for their son by having them take part in a series of secure video conferences with senior commanders as well as White House and State Department officials. A former government official involved in American hostage issues said he had never heard of giving a family such access and questioned whether sensitive information could have been conveyed to Robert and Jani Bergdahl and somehow leaked out. A family spokesman said he knows of no such breach. Soon after Sgt. Bergdahl went missing in

Retailers are starting to push a new trend in menswear: the short suit. The ensemble looks like a regular suit from the waist up, with a sport coat over a button-down shirt and sometimes a tie or bowtie. Instead of trousers, however, the suit´s bottoms are cropped at the knee. J. Crew, Topman, Asos, and Barneys are among the retailers selling the short suit this season. They may be taking cues from fashion icon Pharrell Williams, who donned tuxedo shorts to the Academy Awards earlier this year. Since its first introduction into our lexicon, the definition of the word metrosexual has changed several times. At first it was used to describe young, urban males who were more interested in fashion, grooming and appearance than the traditional masculine male. Sexuality ran the gamut from officially gay, straight or bisexual. Then an article in Salon.com by Mark Simpson narrowed it down to the following: "He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference." Obama has visited the trendy city of just 85,000 people three other times since his first presidential campaign. It was his debate-preparation retreat before going toe-to-toe
