Key teacher job protections
violate California´s constitution,
judge rules

Los Angeles Times, by Howard Blume

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday that key job protections for teachers in California are unconstitutional, in a major loss for unions. The verdict represents a complete victory by attorneys who argued that state laws governing teacher layoffs, tenure and dismissals harm students by making them more likely to suffer from grossly ineffective instruction. If the preliminary ruling becomes final and is upheld, the effect will be sweeping across California and possibly the nation. "The law was on our side and the evidence was overwhelming,” said Marcellus McRae, an attorney for the plaintiffs. "Whatever happens, we can’t go backward. The

Union thugs get the beatdown they richly deserve. Little Mexican kids, sick of being placed with bottom-of-the-barrel teachers stood up on their hindlegs and did the Rosa Parks - they said enough. This is good.

Here´s the squawking from the teachers union - their argument is like a wet noodle, they aren´t even good at arguing their own miserable case: http://www.cta.org/Issues-and-Action/Ongoing-Issues/Vergara-Trial1.aspx

Dream on, this will never be upheld. Only unconstitutional things are upheld by our courts.

Another judge will reverse this by Friday. Regardless of whether it is constitutional or not, the public school system will simply ignore the court ruling just like the college university system in CA has done with race based admissions.

FTA: Attorneys representing the state and the California Teachers Assn. failed to demonstrate evidence of positive outcome from the statutes, Boutrous said. Their arguments “fell completely flat,” he said.

Of course, because the Teacher´s Union is nothing more than a criminal racketeering organization that exists only to suck up Democrat dollars from the taxpayers. The unions never want ANY accountability ever.

Talk about liberals being hung up by their petard. LOL

The Chilean government released a report about two high-quality photos it believes could indicate a close encounter. The particular incident under investigation occurred at the remote Collahuasi copper mine in Chile’s Atacama Desert back in April 2013, when four technicians working at the mine witnessed a disc-shaped object approach the area slowly, hover for about an hour over the mine before finally heading off to the east. The Committee for the Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena (known by its Spanish acronym, CEFAA), is responsible for investigating any unexplained aerial phenomena within Chilean air space.

For first time in more than a decade, violent crime in Los Angeles rose during the first six months of the year, according to Los Angeles Police Department statistics. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said the department was "very concerned" about the increase but also noted that overall crime, which includes property offenses such as burglaries, remains down. Violent crime was up 2.9%, with 8,610 crimes reported in the first six months of the year, compared with 8,371 reported during the first six months of 2013. The increase was driven by a jump in aggravated assaults, which were up 12% compared with

Brazilians cried, cursed their president and covered their faces in shame after their beloved football team´s humiliating 7-1 thrashing by Germany in the World Cup semi-finals Tuesday. President Dilma Rousseff twitted how sad she was with defeat but called on Brazilians “we won´t let ourselves stay down”. After the fifth goal, well before half-time, hundreds of people left their expensive seats at the stadium in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte. A section of the crowd chanted obscenities against the players and President Dilma Rousseff, who during the cup had mostly enjoyed a reprieve from protests over the record 11 billion

Actor George Clooney had harsh words for Britain’s Daily Mail in a searing essay penned for USA Today that the paper published on its Web site Wednesday morning. At issue was a recent article in which the British newspaper said that the mother of Clooney’s betrothed, Amal Alamuddin, was against their upcoming marriage because Clooney is not Druze, a small Middle-Eastern religion with communities in Lebanon and Syria. Alamuddin is a British-Lebanese human rights barrister in London. The Daily Mail, citing “close family friends,” reported Alamuddin’s mother, Baria, wanted her to marry someone Druze.

An internal Border Patrol executive summary obtained by Townhall confirms that at least 16 unaccompanied illegal minors (those under the age of 18, according to U.S. government policy), are members of the brutal El Salvadorian street gang Mara Salvatrucha—or MS-13. Gang members left graffiti on the walls of the Nogales Border Patrol processing center, which suggested they had ties to the organization. Parliamentarians from across the aisle submitted a draft constitutional reform on Thursday, requesting that the length of presidential terms be extended to six years, arguing that the current term — four years without the possibility of re-election — is not long enough to deliver a major presidential program. Should the reform ultimately succeed, it would represent the fifth time in Chile’s history that a constitutional reform has altered the length of a presidential term. “A period of four years is not enough to manage and develop large projects,” Socialist Party (PS) Dep. Three Department of Human Services buses shuttled some 140 immigrants from the plane to a Border Patrol station in San Ysidro. Once they arrived, agents wearing plastic gloves conducted pat downs on some of the Central American immigrants. Protesters waited for the immigrants in Murrieta, about 80 miles north of San Ysidro. It was not immediately clear where the immigrants would be taken. Some protesters held signs that read, "If fences don´t work, why does the White

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. "In theory, you could report out a resolution tomorrow and vote on it," said a House GOP aide on Tuesday. "But that is not the approach [the leaders] want to take." Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. This drawn-out script builds toward a potentially dramatic floor vote held just days, or even hours, before the House adjourns on

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it. Iraq changed from a safe, stable ally (just ask Obama) to a terrorist haven, one of the reasons why, though no fellow Democrats seem likely to edge her, her chances of winning the White House seem dim. In fact, Obama thinks programs like DACA and a comprehensive amnesty bill are ways to solve the border crisis.
