Was Benghazi a Scandal?

If the CIA wanted to smuggle guns to Syria or interrogate al-Qaeda suspects in Benghazi, that was its business, not necessarily the administration’s. To the degree Obama was involved in overseeing events in Libya, his involvement was most likely limited to a vague warning that, in the latter part of the nip-and-tuck 2012 campaign, there must not be anything resembling a shoot-’em-up Mogadishu, which a beefed-up security presence in Benghazi might have made more likely by evening the odds. Better to keep a low profile amid increasing security threats and hope for the best. And, if the worst happens —

Imagine a Fourth of July tradition like Hollywood´s where each year the Oscars pay homage to fallen stars. Liberty-loving Americans would fete public servants who’ve honored Thomas Jefferson’s rule to "leave no authority existing not responsible to the people." Might celebrating trustworthy public stewards inspire Americans to rediscover our founders’ insights, ingraining a culture that prizes democratic accountability and lawful government, the one that transformed our risky political experiment into history’s freest and most prosperous society? We´d be celebrating two recently passed stalwarts who put country and constitutional order before party: Sen. Howard Baker, the Watergate committee´s ranking Republican who famously

"I’m not young enough to know everything," Peter Pan’s creator, J.M. Barrie, observed, as if reflecting on the Great Commencement Speaker Flap of 2014. Even so, Jimi Hendrix was young when he reputedly offered advice heeded by too few students today – "knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." Aware that wisdom comes from asking the right questions, not identifying the wrong answers, Professor Allan Bloom blasted American universities in 1987 for exacerbating youthful indiscretion. In his seminal book, The Closing of the American Mind: How Higher Education Has Failed Democracy and Impoverished the Souls of Today´s Student, Bloom argued that students were

“You can’t handle the truth!” Jack Nicholson shouted at Tom Cruise during the climactic court-martial scene in the movie “A Few Good Men.” Caught in a lie that exposed his “above-the-law” mentality, Nicholson’s character, Col. Nathan Jessup, justifies his lawlessness by declaring, “I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it!” It’s a riveting scene, pitting security against the rule of law. But before agreeing with Jessup that lawfulness conflicts with freedom, think

Shouldn’t college students know as much about American civics as they do about pop culture? Media Research Center TV went to American University last month to find out, discovering few who could name a single U.S. senator or the number of senators from each state. But most knew the Oscar-winning song “Let It Go.” Equally surprising are polls showing only one-quarter of Americans can identify Joe Biden as the vice president or name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (religion, speech, press, assembly, petition). Just under a quarter of Americans could name all five family members

Since Teddy Roosevelt counseled, “Speak softly and carry a big stick,” U.S. presidents have mostly followed his advice, cautioning adversaries to resolve conflicts peacefully or suffer consequences. Even President Carter brandished America´s big stick upon learning that bad things happen when you´re not respected, prompting him to reconsider deterrence, given “the Soviets´ ultimate goals.” But today, after unilaterally “resetting” relations with repressive regimes, including Iran andRussia -- whose Ukraine incursion is “the gravest threat to European security and stability since the end of the Cold War,” proclaimed NATO´s chief -- America´s posture is more akin to “speak loudly and carry a toothpick.”

Murrieta, California is ground zero in America’s war against illegal aliens who are swarming our border. The Obama regime is not stopping the illegals. They are in fact doing everything they can to facilitate the entry of illegals into this nation. In California, and a lot of other places, real Americans have had enough. (Snip) According to media reports, the Obama regime is going to deploy riot squads to make sure those buses get through. The Regime cannot close off the border but it is going to use riot police to attack real Americans! This is simply beyond belief. Illegal aliens are just that, illegal. Yet the Obama Regime is going to use

HOUSTON, Texas--As illegal immigrants continue to spill across the U.S.-Mexico border, federal authorities are attempting to relocate the migrants from South Texas to housing facilities in states across the nation. One such facility is located in Murrieta, California, where a large group of protesters recently blocked a bus full of migrants from arriving. The protesters remain there, adamant that illegal immigrants don´t get dumped in their town. But soon the concerned citizens may be forced to step down--Breitbart Texas has learned that federal agents plan to arrive in Murrieta on Monday with riot gear to ensure that another busload makes

Texas Gov. Rick Perry repeated an accusation that undocumented children coming to the U.S. from Latin American countries might be a result of “ulterior motives” from President Obama. “I have to believe that when you don’t respond in any way that you are either inept or you have some ulterior motive of which you are functioning from,” Perry said during an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “I don’t believe he particularly cares whether or not the border of the United States is secure,” (Snip) “This president, I will suggest, is either totally and absolutely either inept, or making some decisions that are not in the best interests of

A Fourth of July parade float in Nebraska that showed a dummy standing outside an outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" is drawing cries of racism from local residents and the Nebraska Democratic Party. The float, in the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk, Neb., was affixed to trailer being towed behind a blue pickup truck. The dummy was clad in overalls, standing by a walker next to the outhouse. (Snip) But one of the parade´s organizers, Rick Konopasek, told the Lincoln Journal-Star the float was intended to be no more offensive than a political cartoon. He said the outhouse was the

At Arizona State University, female students can earn extra credit by agreeing to not shave their armpits and legs for ten weeks. Breanne Fahs, a professor of women and gender studies, has made the special offer to her students as a way to encourage them to challenge social norms. “There’s no better way to learn about societal norms than to violate them and see how people react,” she told ASU News. “There’s really no reason why the choice to shave, or not, should be a big deal. But it is, as the students tend to find out quickly.” Female students looking to earn

Would you buy a bargain-priced airline ticket, but the catch was you had to stand for the entire flight? A new university study says the idea of standing-only sections on planes is no joke. An airline that removes seats can fit about 20% more passengers and, as a result, offer discounts of as much as 44% compared with airlines that offer big comfy seats, according to the study published in the International Journal of Engineering and Technology. Airlines in Ireland and China have looked into the concept, but none have yet put the idea into practice. Major carriers in the

Many people are wondering why Republicans are not doing more to stop the Illegal Alien influx, and more specifically not stop President Obama’s approach. We can answer that question….. ….But before we do everyone needs to stop being a co-dependent and accept what is in front of us. This guy, Tom Donohue, is at the root of the matter. Tom Donohue is the President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the CoC. The CoC wants amnesty legislation, the CoC is also the primary source of campaign funding for the following Republicans: Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Rob Portman (R-OH), Bob Corker (R-TN),

NORFOLK, Neb. — A float comparing President Barack Obama´s future presidential library to an outhouse has drawn criticism from some after it appeared in the Fourth of July parade in Norfolk. It featured a wooden outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" and a figure in overalls standing outside the structure. "I´m angry and I´m scared," Norfolk resident Glory Kathurima told the Lincoln Journal Star. "The float was not just political; this was absolutely a racial statement." Kathurima, an immigrant from Kenya, is raising her 9-year-old daughter in the northeast Nebraska community of roughly 24,000. Parade organizers with the local Odd Fellows lodge

Polar bears and Emperor penguins aren´t the only species under threat due to climate change. Gingers could become extinct as a result of increasingly sunny skies, experts have warned. Scientists believe the gene that causes red hair is an evolutionary response to cloudy skies and allows inhabitants to get as much Vitamin D as possible. But if predictions of rising temperatures and blazing sunshine across the British Isles turn out to be correct, flaming red heads could cease to exist within centuries. While only 1% to 2% of the world’s population are ginger, in the north of the UK, where the weather tends to

The Obama administration claimed Sunday that illegal immigrants flooding across the border from Central America are not dangerous, despite numerous reports of gangsters and criminals being apprehended at the border. On ABC´s This Week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske said of the nearly 50,000 illegal immigrants who have crossed the border since October of last year, "these are family members." "These are not gang members," he said. "These are not dangerous individuals." At a House Homeland Security Committee Field Hearing on the border crisis on Thursday in McAllen, Texas, Texas Governor Rick Perry said that gangsters and terrorists are looking
