Obama Administration: Bergdahl
Was Chuck Hagel´s Call

Weekly Standard, by Michael Warren

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 6/10/2014 5:07:07 AM

The last question asked at Monday night´s closed-door briefing of members of the House of Representatives was a simple one: Who made the decision to transfer five top Taliban officials held at Guantanamo Bay to Qatar in exchange for the return of the Taliban´s lone American POW, Army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl? According to Buck McKeon, the chairman of the House Armed Services committee, the Obama administration´s briefers told he gathered House members that the person responsible for the decision to make the deal was not President Obama but Chuck Hagel, the secretary of defense. So now its Hagel´s turn under the bus? Not that I care. Hagel is an odious human being, and a military hater to boot, and someone who actually belongs under the bus.

Interesting, though, it didn´t take long for the Incompetent-in-Chief to find someone else to blame. I´m rather surprised that Obama didn´t say he first read of the prisoner transfer in the paper.

I have no feel for these sources: Warren, McKeon.

Hagel is a bum but I don´t see him making the decision to exchange. That was above his pay grade.

Possibly Hagel himself made phone calls to the military during the release process. That was only logistics. I don´t believe he made the GO-NOGO decision; that came from the WH.

The aroma grows........

Here comes the blame game.

Truman was wrong. The buck doesn´t stop here. The buck only stops to blame Republicans.

It is like a miraculous miracle, really, how Democrats can never, ever do any wrong, no matter what. Their supposedly "good intentions" shield them from literally anything.

It´s totally irrelevant whether Hagel proposed this or not. He could have been the one who negotiated personally with the Taliban and personally made flight arrangements for the 5 terrorists. The buck stops with Obama and he made the final call. The fact that the WH would try to sell this pathetic excuse to the public just throws fuel on the fire.

This is all so confusing. It really is difficult keeping up with the story as it changes by the hour. First, Obama takes credit for it. Then Hapless Hagel realizes Obama is giving Hagel credit for this disaster and poor Hapless looks around and says ´who me?´. He thinks that´s great until the media finally opens his eyes he and sees that this is not the great honor he thought it was. Now we are back to square one. It really was Obama´s decision. Just follow the bouncing ball, folks. Eventually it will all go away ´in the fog of war.´

Colorblind Harry Reid continues to divide

Harry Reid is the da Vinci of distraction. The moment any scandal, policy failure or political defeat crashes down on him — and there have been plenty the past few years — the Senate majority leader unleashes outrageous rhetoric that’s better suited for a sandbox than what once passed for the world’s greatest deliberative body. Worse, the Nevada Democrat has become especially fond of slinging race cards just to crank up the outrage. Last week, Sen. Reid was in rare form following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn part of the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate. The 5-4 ruling declared

It took Mike and Chantell Sackett five years and a unanimous Supreme Court decision just to gain a fighting chance against a thuggish Environmental Protection Agency. Officials appeared at their Idaho property in 2007 threatening them with fines of $37,500 per day unless they immediately stopped construction on their dream home on land they owned near a lake. The agency cited the Clean Water Act after a neighbor complained, perhaps upset at the prospect of another home being built in the well-developed neighborhood. It’s finally been confirmed what was suspected all along — Massachusetts is feeling the pain of the chaotic border crisis. Forget the denials. Secret flights of illegal immigrants have made their way to Bedford and Boston. I guess Attorney General Martha Coakley and state police are out of the loop because they said in recent weeks they had no knowledge of it. We’ve learned from immigration officials that four planes filled with detainees nabbed on the border landed at Hanscom Field and Logan International Airport since April as the U.S. scrambles to cap the immigration crisis. Even before the shooting stops between Israel and Palestinian terrorists, the one guarantee is that Israel will get most of the blame. Already the demands from the United Nations that Israel show “restraint” are as predictable as Palestinian rockets. The tiny Jewish state is under fierce attack, with millions of its citizens spending long hours in bomb shelters. Yet any response beyond a mere t*t-for-tat is labeled disproportionate, putting Israel in the impossible position of being damned if it does and doomed if it doesn’t. NASHVILLE — Republican candidates for governor around the country have built an unexpectedly strong position for election this fall, helped by an improving economy, disaffection with President Obama and a national fund-raising machine that is leagues ahead of the opposition. Four years after an economic crisis and opposition to Mr. Obama’s health care law propelled Republicans to capture a lopsided majority of statehouses across the country, they are faced with a staggering political task: defending 22 of the 36 executive mansions that will be up for grabs in November, led by a governor who is trying to rebound from a

SAN DIEGO - The family that drew national attention when they were rescued at sea off their sailboat, Rebel Heart, in April is finally setting the record straight. Charlotte and Eric Kaufman and their two daughters were about 1,000 miles west of Cabo San Lucas in the Sea of Cortez when 1-year old Lyra became sick. That was when their adventure of a lifetime turned into a nightmare. It began with a fever, then a rash and then Lyra became lethargic. That was when the couple used their satellite cell phone to call a doctor. He advised them to begin treating Lyra

BOSTON — Comedian Bill Cosby and his wife Camille are supporting protesters marching across Massachusetts in opposition to Kinder Morgan’s proposed natural gas pipeline. The couple, who own hundreds of acres of protected land in Shelburne Falls, about 100 miles west of Boston, have been opposed to the pipeline since the company notified them last winter of plans to survey their land. Through a spokesman, the couple said it was “astounding” that New England’s six governors support the proposal, which they said shows “disrespect for humans, flora and fauna.” Supporters of the $3.75 billion Northeast Pipeline Extension Project say it will provide

Glenn Beck has set up Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund to help illegals coming into the United States. He’s already raised $600,000. Beck stated that Obama would not have to step in and ask for $3.7 billion if private charities would pick up the slack and give to the swarm of illegals crossing the border. Is he kidding? Do we really need more churches and non-profits enabling this blatant attack on America? Rich people and liberal elite billionaires have no skin in the game when it comes to the consequences of illegal immigration so what do they care? It’s the working class and middle class who will take the hit.

On Friday’s broadcast of PBS’s “NewsHour” New York Times columnist David Brooks and Creators Syndicate columnist Mark Shields took on the House Speaker John Boehner’s lawsuit against the Obama administration, which alleges oversteps in executive authority by the Obama White House. Both acknowledged Boehner’s gripe with the Obama administration had merit, but were skeptical of the lawsuit’s chances. However, they both also took on the alternative offered by former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK), which was to impeach President Barack Obama. Both dismissed that course of action as well, with Brooks calling it “cloud cuckoo land.” Partial transcript as follows: WOODRUFF: So the Highway Trust
