Republicans Seek
Revenge Against Ted Cruz

Time Magazine, by Jay Newton-Small

Original Article

Posted By:ElSid, 6/8/2014 4:18:11 PM

Ted Cruz has not made himself a popular man in Washington, D.C. The Texas Republican would argue that’s the point. But even for a Senator—an elected office with the backing of an entire state—ticking off powerful people can have consequences. (Snip) A week after his election to the Senate in 2012, Cruz was named vice chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which works to elect Republicans to the Senate. But he subsequently refused to endorse incumbent senators, or help them in their races, a fact that many Tea Party insurgents have seized upon. He hasn’t set foot in the NRSC in more than a year, sources say.

Comments:
The RINOS in the Washington Tidal Basin begin gathering to sling their mud at Senator Cruz. Not to worry. Ted has been cleansed by the cool waters of Texas Tea.

I´m not altogether sure why Cruz would accept the vice chairmanship of the NRSC and then not bother to show up for work, as it were. Presumably he could have used the position to influence matters in his direction.

I´m trying to like this guy, because I agree with him about practically everything, but I´m finding it more and more difficult to escape the conclusion that Ted is out for Ted and, like any good operator, knows how to manipulate his base.

For you to seek revenge, you have to have been harmed. The only thing that Ted has done to the establishment is make them record their vote to end debate so that they can vote against a bill without it counting. That way the Dems get their way and the GOP appears to be voting against.

Senator Cruz has been very successful in creating his own niche, his own image and that´s a good thing for any young, skilled and ambitious politician. Now I´m going to say something that will upset his fans, but there are some of us Texans who wish he would remember Texas´s best interests. We would like to hear him more forcefully speaking out against Obama´s anti-Texas moves, the EPA regulations affecting our power requirements (Texas gets about 40% of its power from coal-related industries), the Justice Department´s moves against our voter ID laws, the Planned Parenthood lawsuit against Rick Perry, the federal dumping of illegal children into McAllen and San Antonio because the border isn´t being protected, the Border Patrol being ordered not to arrest/harass/question/deter those sneaking across the Rio Grande, our South Texas and West Texas ranchers being forced to travel with weapons because of the scary immigrants invading our ranches, the BLM´s threats along the Oklahoma border and on and on and on. If he will step forward on some of these things, we will be much happier about enthusiastically supporting Senator Cruz´s national ambitions.

We ask him, please.

One more thing. I understand that many L-Dotters disdain Senator Cornyn, but he is always working for Texas. We get newsletters and questionnaires and invitations to coffees so he can hear from us.

I have never received a single thing from Senator Cruz that pertains to Texas and our concerns. Senator Cruz sends appeals for money on behalf of himself and various national crusades.

Come home, Senator. Talk to us sometimes.

#6: that´s a might long list for one guy. I presume Cornyn´s all over it, though.

A tiny handful of senators are willing to stand in the way of a tidal wave and the usual suspects are trying to like him but he just seems to be out for himself. Because he gets attention for willing to stand in the way of a tidal wave. Very few are so steadfast. But heaven forbid anyone should take a bunch of bad press over the bad press others might get.

Shaking my head. There´s just no logic in it anymore.

Senator Cornyn can get all the pork and perks he want to for Texas, but it won´t mean much when the good ol´ USA becomes part of the Islamic Caliphate. Senator Cruz is willing to stand up for the most important things, and I donate money to him for that reason.

#7, sign up for Senator Cruz´s weekly emailed news letter. It addresses all the things Senator Cruz is involved in. Compare his emailed letter to Cornyn´s emailed letter.

There is a reason why Senator Cornyn only receive 59% of the vote in his primary. He is not Senator Cruz. Senator Cruz is doing what most Texans want him to do; fighting those establishment Republicans and all the anti-American Democrats that have infiltrated our US Government.

The elites are afraid. They are VERY afraid.

The elites will do whatever they still have the power to do in an effort to destroy anyone who gets in their way. They are becoming Harry Reid.

John McPain used to be venerated as a ´maverick´--now he is just an ´old bull´ who is quickly turning into an old fool.

Cruz is a voice for the disenfranchised social consevative Reaganites who are out here being dismissed by the elites. Cruz is their voice.

Tea party or not, the marginalization of the base is where Cruz connects, and those old elites cutting deals to sell out amnesty, to raise the debt, and to deny their smaller government roots does not bode well for them.

The old bull elites ought to be worried because those votes they count on are going to stay home again like they did for Romney if there is further condescension.

This is the typical attack against a man of principle, the very type that the left likes to get rid of before they have gained traction. Cruz has gained traction, so they are getting worried and upping the ante.

Written by a young Democrat - for Democrats.

Newton-Small: My parents were both United Nations professionals. My mother was Chinese-Malay and an international lawyer working mostly for the UN Conference on Trade and Development out of Geneva. My father’s Australian and spent most of his career crunching budgets for the UN Development Programme.

They met in Zambia, married in Malawi and had me in New York. We lived all over — spending time in 10 countries across five continents. What was my favorite place is a common question. Bumping around that much is hard for a kid: you just are getting to know a language and culture and make some friends when it’s already time to go. No doubt Sen. Cornyn is a very nice man with all the requisite social skills that are so essential to the Establishment Club members. But quite frankly a man with his experience and stature out to be outpacing his junior colleague on the big national issues. And while he may communicate frequently with his constituents in Tx, he sure doesn´t send the Lib/Progs running for cover. Sure, I´d vote for him over any (D) but I thank God for Senator Cruz. May God protect him from the establishment gnats.

I hope my apologist friends feel better now.

One might think that preserving the Constitution and the Republic would be in the interest of Texans. Like the Tea Party groups that have been distracted and diverted to the fight against UN Agenda 21, apologists in Texas need to keep their priorities straight. First things first: withoutt straightening up things in DC, nothing else will matter. The position of Senator ostensibly gives Texas a voice in the federal process - as a state (yes, repeal the 17th Amendment to restore the original intent of the Framers), but the focus is on proper conduct of the federal government, not about how much pork to bring home to Texas or any other state.

On issues related to immigration: Sen. Cruz is doing far more for Texas than Sen. Cornyn.

Revenge? The un-named "former GOP Senate leadership aide" should be careful what he/she and others in the Establishment wish for. Starting a new party to replace the GOP would be real "revenge". Don´t think it can´t happen.

Still feeling better?

For starters Cornyn voted to confirm Hillary Clinton, Holder, the Wise Latina and Elena "Sharia Law" Kagen. Or that Cornyn supported Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Murkowski and other RINO tratiors.

It´s okay with clueless RINO camp followers for Cornyn to stab Texas and America in the back as long as he sends newsletters and questionnaires and invitations to coffees.

Regard Sen. Cruz´ and the NRSC, he said when he joined he thought the group would focus on general elections rather than primaries, but that turned out not to be the case. He said he doesn´t believe NRSC should be involved in primaries, that he´d be involved again during general elections. As to the Establishment, I´d like to know why those who were in office during 8 years of George Bush haven´t retired from pubic life in disgrace after destroying the country and handing it to the radical left. Having not done so, I´d like them to list what the Bush admin. did wrong, why were these mistakes made, what are they doing to prevent the mistakes from happening again. With daily access to microphones, why haven´t these GOP individuals clearly stated in a few sentences the facts that global warming is a massive fraud, that even if it did exist only China can lower global CO2, and demand an immediate halt to all US taxpayer spending on climate and the UN?

Beirut - Fears continue to spread in Lebanon about the presence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after the Sunni militant group claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on a central Beirut hotel, the third such attack in two weeks. The militant group has expanded its operations in both Syria and Iraq, giving rise to fears that it could also seek to start an insurgency against the Lebanese government at a time when the country still has no president. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
