Obama to Take Executive

The White House says President Barack Obama is prepping new executive steps to help Americans struggling to pay off their student debt. Obama plans to announce Monday that he´s expanding an existing program that prevents borrowers from having to pay more than 10 percent of their monthly income in student loan payments. That program is only available to people who borrowed during certain years, but Obama intends to expand the timeframe for eligibility. Obama also plans to announce that he´s directing the government to renegotiate contracts with federal student loan servicers so encourage them to make it easier for borrowers to avoid

Demonrats are whining that they have to increase taxes to pay for this.

This tells me the student loan interest rate is a money maker for the goobermint as well as the loan itself being a money maker for colleges. Raise taxes. That´s the ticket. Protect college unions who give campaign money to the DNC. Sock it to the taxpayer.

When we take the Senate back, I believe we can Override the diktator-in-chief´s "executive steps". While leftists are cheering from the sidelines at the destruction of the economy, as well as all things American, I for one NEVER want to see my country being mishandled like this again for as long as I live. He is what evil looks like in a $3,000 suit and a toothy "smile". Sickening.

#3, I agree with the sentiment, but we may have to wait for a 2016 White House victory to undo Obama´s executive orders. Haven´t I read that only another president can take that action?

This was predictable 5 years ago, when Obama had the Federal government seize control of the student loan industry.
In fact, I expected him to use it to help buy his 2012 re-election with college kids.
So why now?

I´m already seeing ads and exhortations that we must "forgive" student debt. Fairness, you know. And the need for an increasingly educated workforce and citizenry, though how that relates to BA´s in Womyn´s Studies, African Studies, Black Studies, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, General Studies, Museum Studies, and Sociology is not clear to me.

All that the Moron-in-Chief has to do is stop killing the job market so these kids can get jobs and pay off their own loans.

His executive order will be a slap in the face to all students who worked for years to pay off their loans. Not to mention the taxpayers who will have this obligation heaped on top of their obligation to pay for the healthcare of millions of deadbeats. The only thing worse than paying off a student loan for somebody who won´t do it himself is to give non-deserving students free rides to college and then see them blow the opportunity on partying and basketball.

Children of my friends have taken out the maximum they could get for student loans; they took a couple of classes and spent the rest on travel and clothes. Of course, none of them actually got a degree, nor do they work; they are hoping now that the party is over, 0bama will forgive their debt.

West Africa can’t manage

An alarming report released last week by Doctors Without Borders said that West Africa’s current Ebola outbreak is “out of control.” That should shock the governments of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia into action. It marks a frightening moment for a disease that has been contained numerous times before. The outbreak, already the deadliest in history, had killed almost 400 people as of Thursday. It began in March but then slowed, causing the Guinean president to declare to the World Health Organization (WHO) in April that “the situation is well in hand.” But all was not well, and complacency led to

ATLANTA — Mark Mayfield, a respected lawyer and tea party operative in Mississippi, has died after being accused of taking part in an unseemly, Watergate-like conspiracy to undermine long-time Sen. Thad Cochran’s campaign. No foul play is suspected around the self-inflicted gunshot wound, local police said. Mr. Mayfield left a note behind, but authorities have not released it. A tea party group board member, Mayfield had worked to get Sen. Cochran’s challenger Chris McDaniel elected. On Tuesday, Cochran narrowly won the primary. Mr. McDaniel has denied involvement, and has not been implicated in the scheme to photograph Cochran´s wife at a nursing

It has become a familiar lament, and a panel on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday reproduced it perfectly: Why does President Barack Obama seem so ill-equipped to meet the challenges of the moment. Amid sagging job approval ratings, prompted by a series of crises abroad and an economic recovery that more closely resembles a new recession, a panel of political veterans pondered all the reasons why Obama seems to be floundering. Vanity Fair’s Todd Purdum, the author of a book on the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, was asked by CBS host Bob Schieffer whether Obama has the mastery

He is to be moved Monday to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, according to a spokesman, Capt. Eric Flanagan. Maj. Gen. TOKYO -- North Korea said Monday it is preparing to try two Americans who entered the country as tourists for carrying out what it says were hostile acts against the country. Though a small number of U.S. citizens visit North Korea each year as tourists, the State Department strongly advises against it. The central plains have seen some relief this spring with bands of heavy rains moving through, but the 2014 season has been the exception rather than the norm. The 2012 – 2013 drought season saw more and more people having trouble accessing potable ground water, or even sufficient moisture for agriculture. It’s long been known that this problem is exacerbated by expanding corn production, driven by a need to feed the government mandated ethanol market. But a recent study from an unusual source sheds some new light on this situation. The source for this study actually is the interesting part, as

Some commentators (Simon Jenkins, for example) say that the ISIS threat is exaggerated. As I outlined prior to the ISIS march on Mosul, that assessment is wrong. Supplied by a deep well of European recruits, supported by a war chest worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and driven by pure hatred, ISIS poses a major transnational threat. Because of its pernicious reshaping of regional political dynamics, ISIS must be challenged. That being said, over the long term ISIS is unlikely to retain control over vast swaths of Iraq and Syria. Here are three interconnected reasons why. CLASHING IDEOLOGIES Let’s be clear: The crisis in

NASA’s “flying saucer” device made a hard landing in the Pacific Ocean on Saturday, ending what the space agency deemed a successful test after attempts earlier in June were cancelled due to high winds. A large helium balloon lifted the device, called a low-density supersonic decelerator, 120,000 feet. During its descent, an inflatable so-called “doughnut” apparatus functioned properly, but a newly-designed supersonic parachute failed to deploy, causing the rough landing. NASA will hold a teleconference Sunday to release initial data from the test. The trial, which began at the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii, took about three

Here’s a story about WWII you never learned in school or from the history books: “Operation Mincemeat.” In what’s being called “the greatest act of deception” of the war, the British government’s elaborate operation involved taking a corpse from a London morgue, dressing it up as a British soldier and planting it on a Spanish beach for the Germans to discover. The detail to which they went was incredible. We don’t want to give it away, but the Nazis took the bait. Kudos to Buzzfeed for this fascinating video.

The Keystone Pipeline project was expected to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the oil industry. The project itself would create 20,000 construction jobs. And the pipeline would bring oil from Canada and North Dakota to refineries in the United States. But Obama rejected the plan in 2011 and 2014. Democrats are beholden to the radical green movement – the poor and middle class be damned. Now this… Canada pulled the plug on Keystone and will

President Obama appears to have an Agenda for America that stinks worse than a Border Patrol bus depot crammed with urine-drenched illegals. On January 29, 2014, the Department of Homeland Security advertised for a vendor to escort 65,000 “unaccompanied alien children,” indicating that they not only knew the alien invasion was coming, they planned it.
