ROME – Some 2,500 Italy-bound migrants were rescued from 17 boats trying to make the Mediterranean crossing from North Africa, the Italian navy said Friday. All of the vessels assigned to the Mare Nostrum task force remain deployed in an ongoing operation, the navy said in a statement. The San Giorgio rescued a total of 998 migrants, more than a third of them women and children, from five different boats Thursday night. Another 400 migrants were collected by the frigate Orione. A shortage of vessels forced Mare Nostrum units to transfer more than 600 migrants to passing freighters pending the arrival of additional ships

Yo....yo...Send the Russian Navy. See..there is a legit reason to sell French navel vessels to the Russians. Now the Ruskies can help "rescue" refugees. Just like they "apprehended" the Somali pirates. They sink the ships AND machine gun the lifeboats.

The Law: Residents of city proud to be called Reagan Country rose up last week to halt busloads of illegal immigrants being dumped into their neighorhoods, showing why they may have started a grassfire national movement. To get into the town hall meeting at California´s Murietta Mesa High School, you had to work your way through 200 angry protesters. Many of them were in green and white Mexican soccer jerseys and bandanas and waved Mexican flags, at least one with "Viva Mexico" stamped on it. "Ci-ti-zen-ship! Ci-ti-zen-ship!" shouted one young woman, pumping her flag along as the crowd´s rage sizzled. She apparently

As some Murrieta residents are coming out of the Murrieta Mesa High School auditorium - packed to the brim with people - some of the pro-immigration folks are kind of challenging and taunting with an American flag the attendees that are there to protest the 140 illegal migrants that tried to be processed in Murrieta Tuesday, ultimately ending up in the Border Patrol Station in San Ysidro due to the Murrieta protest. Meantime, another headline is evolving Wednesday night: Murrieta, population 100,000, taking on the federal government. "Do you have a handle - a real handle - on what this is

A Riverside County town greeted a group of undocumented immigrants transferred into the city Tuesday by blocking the road to prevent the federal bus carrying them from entering a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility. The first group out of an estimated 140 total was flown from detention facilities in Texas to San Diego, then taken by bus to Murrieta, where some local residents camped out to protest beginning early in the morning. When the buses arrived just after 2 p.m., a vocal group of protesters carrying signs and draped in American flags blocked the buses filled with families who

Form a broad-based inclusive government that reaches out to the Sunnis. That would take away some of the sense of grievance that fuels their support for radical Sunni groups like ISIS that are threatening Iraq´s existence as a nation. So why in the world is Maliki flatly refusing to do this? Partly is because he´s a hard line Shiite politician himself whose

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Honduras first lady Ana Garcia de Hernandez are making separate tours of the south Texas border, where most of the 52,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children have crossed this year. But while the political debate has focused on U.S. immigration enforcement, a key economic factor has been lost in the clamor. Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, which are supplying three-quarters of the latest cross-border flood, are bucking a trend in Latin America toward stronger local economies based on sound reforms and security.

The Obamas have spent over 44 million dollars in taxpayer money on travel and vacations. Some are even calling him the “most well-trvaeled, expensive” president in our nation’s history. As Americans head off for the long holiday weekend, let’s take a look back at some of the president’s holiday spending. Our president vacations a lot — we’re talking $44,351,777.12 worth of “a lot,” with most expenses charged to the American taxpayer. As of March 2014, Obama has spent more time traveling internationally than any other president, taking 31 trips since assuming office in 2009. The 119 days spent overseas have

A Fourth of July parade float in Nebraska that showed a dummy standing outside an outhouse labeled "Obama Presidential Library" is drawing cries of racism from local residents and the Nebraska Democratic Party. The float, in the annual Independence Day parade in Norfolk, Neb., was affixed to trailer being towed behind a blue pickup truck. The dummy was clad in overalls, standing by a walker next to the outhouse. President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me. Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago. A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democrat Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008.
