The Unraveling

Late in the afternoon of Saturday, May 31, Barack Obama strode confidently to a lectern in the White House Rose Garden flanked by the parents of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, a soldier who had gone missing from his platoon in the mountains of Afghanistan in June 2009. “This morning I called Bob and Jani Bergdahl and told them that after nearly five years in captivity, their son, Bowe, is coming home,” Obama said. The president thanked service members who “recovered Sergeant Bergdahl and brought him safely out of harm’s way.” Obama also expressed gratitude to the diplomats who had handled the case,

It looked to me like they were waving goodbye. Harm´s way? really?

Democrats love deserters. It reminds them of their glory days when they helped the Vietcong defeat Amerikkka.

This is a Must Read.

This is the most comprehensive and objective article on the Bergdahl exchange I have seen thus far. In particular, the account of how Obama´s own legal task force assessed the extreme risk of releasing the five chosen terrorists is totally damning to the Administration´s rationale. The very fact that Obama ignored that assessment and chose to release them anyway, thus consciously accepting the danger to our remaining military forces in the region, clearly puts this into the category of an impeachable offense.

There is no amount of spinning that can sweep this debacle away. This is precisely the type of offense that our founders foresaw as a "high crime" sufficient and necessary for the removal of the President.

#3, agree that it is a good summation of Bergdahl´s action and explanation of who those Gitmo detainee´s are. So we know that Obama, Rice, and Hagel had the intention of misleading Congress and the American people on this deal.

If it had included some discussion of the CIA station chief that was outed in this process, I would agree that it is "comprehensive." But I think that there is still more to come. Why did Obama´s people out the CIA station chief? Was he holding up this deal? To get rid of this obstacle, the White House outed him. Same as firing, but a lot quicker, since the person´s family was put in jeopardy. I refuse to believe that this was inadvertent or coincidence.

And no wonder that Karzai did not want to meet with Obama while he was in country.

Remember "wag the dog"?
Clinton´s bombing campaign in Bosnia?
The bombing was intended to take the heat off the coverage of Monica Lewinsky.
Well, this time it was the VA scandal. Almost six years and the regime had done nothing about the VA. So the VA had to be moved off the front page.
How to do this? Bring home a hero. No heroes were available (the Taliban take no prisoners).
So a hero had to be fabricated. Send FIVE Taliban Generals home, that will do it.
So no VA news for a week. No harm done. Obama will be out of office before the Generals get back in the field. Sure he will.
This is a real can of worms. And the teflon President has become the velcro President.

Regarding the release of these 5 mega-killers, I don´t think Obama really cares if they go back to the war (what else would they do?) and kill Americans. Any expression of his concern about our military comes across, to me, as phony, like all other issues that are dear to true Americans.

Do you think he cares a whit about our 17 trillion national debt?

-bergdahl was taken on the battlefield : lie
-he served with honor and distinction : lie
-his life/health was in immediate peril : lie
-they don´t negotiate with terrorists : lie
-the released terrorists will be constrained and closely watched: lie
- they mitigated the risk to American security : lie
...plus they KNOWINGLY broke the law to release the terrorists!

Is there NOT ONE American in Congress who will stand up and demand these liars and lawbreakers be held accountable for their actions??!!

...arguing that he [Hagel] wouldn’t sign off on any detainee transfer unless “our country can be assured that we can sufficiently mitigate any risk to America’s security.”

It is unconscionable that Hagel or anyone else takes the word of any Middle East dignitary, head of state or other official. It is in their DNA to lie. Why doesn´t the Left understand something this elementary? The naivete` is surreal.

Didn’t negotiate with terrorists? The United States engaged in “direct discussions with the Taliban in late 2011, early 2012,” a senior administration official acknowledged...

Once again, this Administration denies what Americans have just seen and heard with their own senses. Do they just engage in magical thinking, that if they say something it will happen? Or are they deliberately lying all the time?

The freed Taliban figures will be carefully watched? ... Reuters further reported that the men “will not be treated as prisoners while in Doha and no U.S. officials will be involved in monitoring their movements while in the country.”

So "carefully watched" means no one is actually watching. Again, a denial of the truth in the face of what is reality. This is pathologically and psychologically mad.

Following Bergdahl’s disappearance, IEDs started going off directly under the trucks. They were getting perfect hits every time.” Soldiers in the region chased bogus leads on Bergdahl’s whereabouts that sometimes led to traps, well-orchestrated attempts to lure Bergdahl’s would-be rescuers into situations where they would be vulnerable to attack.

When you put together the circumstantial evidence for treason and the word of at least 6 of his platoon buddies, you have a craven deserter, a coward, a turncoat and a collaborator. So this is what passes for serving "with honor and distinction".

Every American soldier´s life is always in danger while they are in Afghanistan so what is so special about Bergdahl´s life?

After Bergdahl deserted his post at a forward combat position they had no qualms about sending thousands of American soldiers though the wilds of Afghanistan looking for him and reportedly at least fourteen of those soldiers were killed and others wounded as a result.

Bergdahl´s self made situation was just an opportunity and a pretext for Obama to release five of the highest ranking Taliban functionaries held at Guantanamo, that´s what this is all about. Obama has wanted to do that for a long time. By doing that Obama gave aid and comfort to the Taliban and a huge propaganda victory. In the old days that would be considered a crime, now who knows.

His actions match those of someone who hates America. Respects Islam. Hates Christianity. Hates capitalism. Loves Marxism.

During his 2008 campaign we heard enough to indicate that was his viewpoint. We concluded that is how he was going to govern. He has done nothing surprising. He has matched our expectations.
Limbaugh could see this. He said he hoped he failed.
Unfortunately he has not.

And we weep. And we wail. And we gnash our teeth. But nothing will come of it.

Obama, Jarrett, ET AL., knew that this is exactly what we would do. They have no respect for us; that´s why they send in the clowns, Susan Rice and Frog Hagel, to lie to us.

And they certainly have no respect for this castrato Congress, and for good reason. Go back and read #3 here and think about Miss Lindsay Graham and her high-pitched threat, "You release another one from Gitmo, and we´ll consider impeachment [after we stamp our little feet]!" BTW, the ballsy Miss Graham is up for re-election this year.

#4: I, too, will be interested in seeing where the intentional outing of the CIA Station Chief fits into this puzzle. But nothing will come of that either.

I have contributed money, time, written letters, and called representatives. I have not seen any meaningful response to any of this as far as stopping the takeover of our country. When Obama said, ´´we don´t leave our soldiers behind´´.... just WHOSE soldiers is he really referring to? Whose SIDE is he referring to?

And Obama said, Bergdahl we don´t leave our ´´men in uniform´´.... Right. Whose uniform?

When Susan Rice said he served with ´´honor and distinction´´, just who honors him? What are those ´´honors´´? And what distinction? What distinguishes Bergdahl from any other soldier? What distinguishes Bergdahl from the Taliban he spent five years with?

I think these answers are obvious. Too many Americans are too quick to ***assume*** they think they know the thought process behind the comments - it´s what WE would say about one who was truly OURS.

But Obama is not a normal born-and-raised American. We should know this by now.

Bergdahl spent five years with the Taliban. At best - at BEST - he´s a mental case. More likely, he´s a loaded, ticking, jihadi time bomb... well trained I´m sure to detonate when he gets the right verbal or visual cue.

Is there an Arabic or Pashtun word for Manchurian?

#17/26, I agree with you that we´re not going to see an impeachment effort. Where I veer a bit from your opinion, however, is that I think there are many members of Congress who would love to gather, mount and prove an impeachment case, resulting in a solid conviction in the Senate. You and I know, though, that without a GOP-controlled Senate and a tighter grip on the House, it´s just not going to happen. The country doesn´t want it and many of us, despising Obama and feeling him to be a criminal imposter of a president as we do, understand an impeachment effort would divert attention, effort and resources from the bigger problems in the country, the economy, jobs, the IRS, Obamacare, Benghazi. Let´s don´t do it.

Yes, the comment to which you responded was unfairly rude.

The headlines last week were all about the potential windfall: A second appraisal of works in the Detroit Institute of Arts´ collection had come in and the number was several orders of magnitude larger than the first. The city needs a valuation because the museum´s collection is in play under the current municipal bankruptcy proceeding. Back in December, Christie´s had come in with $454 million to $867 million, that low-high figure the equivalent of an auction "estimate" ranging between a number below which a work won´t sell and another representing its likely maximum hammer price. How would you feel if someone promised to give you a car, and then reneged on that pledge? That’s how all Americans should feel when it comes to ObamaCare -- because Barack Obama’s failed and discredited campaign promise to lower health insurance premiums has cost the average American family an amount equal to the price of many new cars. During his 2008 campaign, one of then-Senator Obama’s most audacious promises was that his health plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family. His repeatedly made his pledge on videotape; you can view those promises here. But health insurance premiums

The Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) latest report says that although the federal deficit this year is the lowest of the Obama era, in the near future, it is expected to skyrocket to World War II heights. The years between 2009 and 2012 saw the largest recorded federal government deficits since 1946, based on percentage of the economy. And although the White House also reported that the deficit this year is the lowest of the Obama administration, there is little reason for celebration. Millennial politics is simple, really. Young people support big government, unless it costs any more money. They´re for smaller government, unless budget cuts scratch a program they´ve heard of. They´d like Washington to fix everything, just so long as it doesn´t run anything. That´s all from a new Reason Foundation poll surveying 2,000 young adults between the ages of 18 and 29. Millennials´ political views are, at best, in a stage of constant metamorphosis and, at worst, "totally incoherent," as Dylan Matthews puts it. It´s not just the Reason Foundation. The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. [Snip] It can take up to 10 minutes for every radio, TV, cable and satellite provider to

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. The

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that

President Obama is known for being competitive on the basketball court, but he´s also apparently a cutthroat pool player. Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., told reporters at the National Governors Association meeting on Sunday that the president surprised him by beat him in two consecutive games. To add insult to injury, the two were playing at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, a bar that Hickenlooper co-founded. "You know I´ll tell ya -- the man is a shark," Hickenlooper told reporters, Time reports. "I was up a few balls. I felt pretty good. I was actually wondering whether how hard should I --
