In new memoir, Hillary Clinton makes
stark admission on Iraq War vote:

In a stark admission, Hillary Clinton says she "got it wrong. Plain and simple” when she voted as a U.S. senator to authorize the war in Iraq, according to her new memoir. Clinton’s support, in 2002, for the Iraq War Resolution dogged her unsuccessful 2008 run for President against Barack Obama, who opposed the war from the start. Clinton has distanced herself from her vote — but never in such forceful terms as in her soon-to-be released book, “Hard Choices.” “Many senators came to wish they had voted against the resolution. Comments:
Madam "finger in the wind" seems to feel she has triangulated herself into a corner with this whole Iraq thing and is trying to two-step her derriere out.
Sorry Hillary, you voted with your countrymen and now some ten years after your party started falsely painting the liberation of Iraq as a mistake, you want to be on the side you see favorable at present.
Some Americans could probably muster respect for this woman if she had some real convictions, but she´s not a leader and only an embarrassing political whore, just like her old man.

Did Chuck Schumer try to use the IRS to sidestep the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling — and stick a dagger in the heart of conservative groups? That’s the gist of a complaint filed this week with the Senate Select Committee on Ethics. In Citizens United, the court held that bans on independent political expenditures by corporations, associations and labor unions are bans on speech. The Center for Competitive Politics is asking that Schumer and nine other Democratic senators be investigated for trying to use the IRS to suppress the free speech of political opponents. The complaint notes Schumer signed letters asking the IRS

When men wearing military fatigues and carrying weapons showed up in pickup trucks, villagers thought Nigerian soldiers had finally come to protect them from Boko Haram. But it was a disguise. The gunmen rounded up everyone in the village center and then started shooting. Altogether, Boko Haram militants slaughtered hundreds of people in three villages in the far northeast corner of Nigeria, witnesses said Thursday, describing the latest attack by the Islamic extremist group that drew international attention for the kidnapping of more than 300 schoolgirls. A community leader who witnessed the killings on Monday said residents had

Standing on a podium amid banners boasting “America Cannot Do a Damn Thing,” Iran’s supreme leader said Wednesday that President Obama no longer has the guts for battle. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei proclaimed in a Tehran taunting speech that “military attack is not a priority for Americans now.” “They realize that military attacks are as dangerous or even more dangerous for the assaulting country as they are for the country attacked,” the ayatollah said. The 74-year-old Shiite Muslim cleric was responding to Obama’s West Point commencement speech last week in which the president said every global threat does not justify a US military

Washington -- They´re not exactly gym buddies, but a personal trainer in Poland can now say he worked out with the President of the United States. Jean Ekwa was at the Marriott gym with Barack Obama in Warsaw and confessed to some eavesdropping in an interview with CNN´s Brooke Baldwin. Someone in the hotel workout room captured every grunt and stretch of Obama´s routine, then leaked the video on Wednesday. Ekwa said Obama was lifting 25-pound free weights. "As for the technique, I can´t honestly say that it´s perfect," Ekwa, a personal trainer, said. Ekwa noted that everyone present in the gym had been scanned

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi today defended President Barack Obama’s decision to swap five suspected Taliban members for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl without notifying Congress and said she would have supported the move if it had been done by a Republican commander in chief. Speaking to reporters in Chicago at the end of a bus tour aimed at mobilizing women voters in the mid-term elections, Pelosi said she trusted Obama’s decision to give up the five Guantanamo Bay detainees to the Qatar government in exchange for the Taliban’s release of Bergdahl, who was held nearly five years in Afghanistan. This is a year of important anniversaries for Ronald Reagan and his legacy. It is the tenth anniversary of his passing; it has been 25 years since he left the White House and 50 years since his groundbreaking speech on behalf of Barry Goldwater in 1964. It is also 30 years since his monumental reelection of 1984, ratifying the Reagan Revolution. The election of 1980 would have been meaningless, a detour in history, without 1984 legitimizing it. The Reagan Library, Eureka College, and the Reagan Ranch have taken various steps to commemorate these important anniversaries. And the effort to name a

Forty-one Republican senators sent a letter to President Obama Wednesday urging him to withdraw the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed regulations to limit carbon emissions from power plants. The senators said the rules would increase electricity costs, reduce consumers’ disposable income and result in job cuts. “This proposed rule continues your administration’s effort to ensure that American families and businesses will pay more for electricity, an important goal emphasized during your initial campaign for president, and suffer reduced reliability as well,” the senators wrote. NEW YORK/ANKARA - It is increasingly unlikely that six world powers and Iran will meet their July 20 deadline to negotiate a long-term deal for Tehran to curb its nuclear program in return for an end to economic sanctions, diplomats and analysts say. In theory, an extension to the high-stakes talks should not be a problem if all sides want it. But President Barack Obama would need to secure the consent of Congress at a time of fraught relations between his administration and lawmakers. Iran, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China included the July 20 deadline to reach a

The street had a crosswalk that was not governed by traffic lights, leaving the onus to stop with the driver, according to The Huffington Post. Hi, everybody. This is commencement season, a time for graduates and their families to celebrate one of the greatest achievements of a young person’s life. But for many graduates, it also means feeling trapped by a whole lot of student loan debt. And we’ve got to do more to lift that burden. See, in a 21st century economy, the surest pathway into the middle class is some form of higher education. The unemployment rate for workers with a bachelor’s degree is just 3.3 percent — about half what it is for high school graduates. The typical graduate of a four-year college earns $15,000 more per year than someone with just a high school degree.

U.S. fertility is not recovering from the financial crisis — and demographers aren’t sure why. The fertility rate fell to a record low 62.9 births per 1,000 women aged 15-44 in 2013, according to the National Center for Health Statistics.
