Americans the Obama

It sickens me that the Obama administration has been justifying ransoming terrorist leaders for a probable deserter by reciting the creed that America never leaves a man behind. The Obama administration frequently leaves men (and even children) to suffer and die, with minimal apparent effort on their behalf. A partial list: Glenn Doherty and Tyrone Woods. This is a textbook example of abandoning men in the field. Doherty and Woods fought back ferociously in the aftermath of the Benghazi attacks and received no help. In fact, available evidence indicates that the Obama administration never even tried to send help, even as

As President Obama reels from widespread, bipartisan criticism of a prisoner swap with Taliban forces in Afghanistan — with even Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s hometown canceling its welcome — the growing scandal is emerging as just the latest political problem for Democrats facing tough re-election fights in November, with possible ramifications for the 2016 presidential race. The town of Hailey, Idaho, population 8,000, swamped with hate mail and angry calls over Bergdahl after his fellow soldiers accused him of desertion, yesterday canceled its plans for a big welcome-home rally. “If you had 10,000 people, 5,000 on one side and 5,000 on the other,

President Barack Obama, whose dadness has inspired multiple side-eyes from teen-in-chief Sasha Obama, was spotted doing lunges and squats in a Polish gym, cementing his status as lamest dad leader of the free world. The Daily Mail got footage of the wonderfully cringeworthy workout, shot by whoever happened to be working out in the hotel gym that day, we guess. In addition to the footage, we have these images of the president working out from Facebook user Jean Ekwa:(Snip for photos) Obama covered a number of important exercises during his apparently high-rep-low-weight workout. He did squats, several arm lifts, and that

First lady Michelle Obama and school lunch ladies used to be on the same team, but now they’re locked in a political war against each other. For the first three years of Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, the School Nutrition Association, a powerful group that represents 55,000 cafeteria professionals, was a close ally in the White House push to get kids to eat healthier. The group helped lobby for the legislation at the center of the debate: the 2010 Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, a law championed by the first lady that mandates more fruits and vegetables, whole grains and less sodium in exchange

WASHINGTON — The nation’s top military leaders scrambled Tuesday to temper the clamor over the deal that traded five senior Taliban members for captive Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, amid some soldiers’ claims that he went AWOL in 2009 before his abduction by Taliban insurgents. Army Secretary John McHugh said the controversial case will be reviewed after Bergdahl recovers from his five years in captivity, which ended Saturday when he was exchanged for the five Taliban. McHugh said Army officials want to talk with the Idaho serviceman about his mysterious disappearance, but only after his health is restored. Bergdahl was undergoing medical treatment

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Donnelly conceded defeat on Tuesday, as GOP rival Neel Kashkari won the right to challenge Gov. Jerry Brown in November. Donnelly said he was disappointed to see the numbers turning against him, but heartened by what a “rag-tag band of patriots” was able to pull off. He said the “political establishment” still represents the greatest threat to the people’s liberties. “I will not rest until we restore our Republic,” he said. “I don’t know what role I will play in that. Only God does.” “We’re happy warriors, we are not going to cry in our milk or our

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl officially became an issue in the 2016 presidential race this week when Hillary Clinton backed the president’s reckless swap for the soldier with the Taliban. It looks good for both President Obama and Clinton, the presumed front-runner for her party, that the Democrats stopped the war in Afghanistan and left no one on the battlefield, Christopher Bedford, managing editor at dailycaller.com, told Herald Radio. What doesn’t look so good is the coincidence that the president did not initially disclose his lunch date with the former Secretary of State last week. People Magazine leaked the lunch date on Twitter by

In a town in western Ireland, where castle ruins pepper green landscapes, there’s a six-foot stone wall that once surrounded a place called the Home. Between 1925 and 1961, thousands of “fallen women” and their “illegitimate” children passed through the Home, run by the Bon Secours nuns in Tuam. Many of the women, after paying a penance of indentured servitude for their out-of-wedlock pregnancy, left the Home for work and lives in other parts of Ireland and beyond. Some of their children were not so fortunate. More than five decades after the Home was closed and destroyed — where a housing development

California is hardly known as an epicenter of thoroughbred breeding. But on Saturday, the Belmont Stakes will include the first California-bred Triple Crown contender, leaving the actual industry leader, Kentucky, to pour another bourbon and dream of next year. Kentucky produces about one-third of all the registered thoroughbred foals in the U.S. according to the Jockey Club, the breed´s registry. California accounts for about 8% of the foal crop and has struggled to stabilize its breeding industry since the 2008 recession. It makes California Chrome truly an odds-beater. Barack Obama’s presidency seems to be drifting in its sixth year, as he is all too aware. Obama has downsized his ambitions, tempered his expectations and is trying to take advantage of the perks of office. He is inviting celebrities for private dinners and spending more time on the golf course. Oh, and he’s thinking more about his post-White House years. These are among the takeaways in a major Politico piece that is largely sympathetic to the stymied president, even as it reports on his greatly diminished clout. “The portrait emerges of a president shadowed by a deepening awareness that

This week, an investigative report revealed that 1,700 veterans who wanted to see a doctor at a Phoenix Veterans Affairs hospital were missing from an official waiting list, mirroring a tactic used at two dozen other facilities across the country to mask long waits for medical care. A few hundred other people are missing from the Veterans Affairs system, too: doctors. The Veterans Affairs Department is 400 doctors short, The New York Times reports. But the doctor deficit is not limited to the VA—it´s a nationwide problem. America is running out of doctors. The country will be 91,500 physicians short

When Bob Bergdahl launched in Arabic, invoking Allah while standing next to President Obama in the White House Rose Garden, a number of Americans were startled. (snip) I am not knowledgeable enough to judge the claim of sanctifying the White House and claiming it for Islam, but I place a lot of stick in watching nonverbal cues, people’s quick reactions. And so, when our friends at iOwnTheWorld.com captured and enlarged President Obama’s reaction to Bergdahl’s invocation of Allah, it hit me hard. Susan Rice has done it again. Defending the deal that freed Sgt Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban, the national security adviser declared that Bergdahl had "served the United States with honour and distinction". [Snip] In the US military, walking off post isn´t regarded positively. Moreover, as I noted yesterday, Bergdahl´s unit--1st Battalion, the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment--lost seven men during its 2009-10 deployment. Parachute units like the 501st take great pride in their elite status within the military. Five years ago, I publicly raised questions about Bowe Bergdahl’s desertion from Blackfoot Company, 1-501 Infantry (Airborne), 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. A few weeks after his so-called “capture” in late June 2009, three conflicting accounts had surfaced: U.S. officials told the Associated Press Bergdahl had “walked off” the base with three Afghans; the Taliban claimed on its website that “a drunken American soldier had come out of his garrison” and into their arms; and Bergdahl claimed in his Taliban “hostage video” that he had “lagged behind a patrol” before being captured. The 43-year-old Ernst won the nomination over five candidates. She´ll face Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley in the November general election. All the Republicans seeking the nomination described themselves as deeply conservative, but Ernst managed to stand out in part due to two television ads. One featured her on a farm, talking about her experience castrating hogs, and the other showed her firing a handgun. Ernst also received endorsements from a variety of groups and individuals,

Bill Clinton´s critics in Arkansas used to say that he would rather climb a tree and tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. In other words, Clinton would lie when the truth would do -- and when telling the truth would be easier. The saying might apply to the Obama administration´s public statements about Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier released from captivity in Afghanistan in a trade for five Taliban commanders held at Guantanamo Bay. There is substantial evidence to suggest that Bergdahl abandoned his post in 2009 -- he went AWOL, he deserted, whatever

President Obama betrayed the highest obligation of his office — safeguarding national security — in trading five hard-core Taliban for the American serviceman who appears to have deserted in Afghanistan. The five sworn enemies of the United States are now in the Gulf state of Qatar, where they are free to come and go as they like, beyond the watch of American agents. In just one year, they will be free to return to Afghanistan to fight there and stage terror attacks far beyond that country’s borders.

Acting as commander-in-chief, President Obama exchanged five terrorist leaders for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The rationale was that the United States leaves no soldier behind on the battlefield or in enemy hands. That is half of the equation. The disconcerting other half is that Bergdahl may have left behind his own unit and gone over to the enemy. In 2009, then Pvt. Bergdahl (automatically promoted in absentia to the rank of sergeant) left his frontline unit under the cover of darkness. Soon after, the Taliban reported him in their custody. For weeks, thousands of American soldiers risked their lives to
