USDA Creating $1.9 Million
Research Center Devoted to
Changing American’s Food Choices

Washington Free Beacon, by Elizabeth Harrington

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 6/2/2014 8:29:20 PM

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is creating a $2 million research center to study how the government can “nudge” Americans toward making healthier eating habits. The agency is currently accepting grant applications to establish a “Center for Behavioral Economics and Healthy Food Choice Research,” which will facilitate studies such as how breaking up combo meals at fast food restaurants would influence customers. “The USDA Center will facilitate new and innovative research on the application of behavioral economics theory to healthy food choice behaviors that would contribute to enhancing the nutrition, food security, and health of American consumers,” the USDA’s

Comments:
I´m sick of these Marxists using taxpayer money to "nudge" the sheeple toward whatever Marxist goal they want to achieve. Don´t forget the disgusting Cass Sunstein (married to the even more odious Samantha Power) wrote an entire book on how to "nudge" the people. These people are really sick and perverse. From Wikipedia source: Sunstein proposes that government recognition of marriage be discontinued. There are thousands and thousands more sickos like him in the Obama regime, including their dear leader Obama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cass_Sunstein

According to this article, their focus will be on their very own Dem voters:

The center will be given at least $1.9 million over three years, with the possibility of future funding. Its research will focus on “facilitating food choice behaviors” and improving the diets of Americans enrolled on food stamps and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

The USDA said it is their responsibility to attempt to alter the food choices of Americans since 25 percent receive food aid from government programs.

With a total outlay of $108.9 billion in FY 2013, food and nutrition assistance accounted for 72 percent of USDA’s budget,” the announcement said. “Approximately 1 in 4 Americans participated in at least 1 of the 15 food and nutrition assistance programs at some point during FY 2013, making these programs fundamental to the nutritional well-being of millions of Americans.”

Abundant, good food is dependent on abundant, inexpensive energy.

Our betters are involved in simultaneous, conflicting efforts. They admonish us to ´eat healthy foods´ - which must be grown in large quantities and transported to market - while at the same time they grip our energy supply in a stranglehold, blocking the Keystone pipeline and imposing ever more expensive regulations on coal - our cheapest source of engergy.

If they want to "nudge" people into eating more nutritious food, why don´t the start with their captive audience...make Food Stamps only good for staples and food in its "natural state...flour, cornmeal, oatmeal, fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables ready to be added to whatever recipe they decide to use.

No sodas, no chips, no candy, no prepackaged ready to microwave meals, no foods ready-to-eat prepared in-store for convenience.

Leave us tax-payer, earn our own money for food we like alone.
If Food Stamp recipients don´t like it, they can find a job and buy what they want.

Now we need to spend more than a million for this knowledge. Remember those civics courses that taught "how a bill becomes a law"? Well, they need a follow-up called "how a law becomes a sham." The lesson would focus on the ways in which Congress — usually amid an uproar over some particularly sleazy activity — bars behavior that most people would know is wrong, law or no law. Later, when nobody´s looking, Congress backtracks. The latest example is the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, which explicitly bars lawmakers and staffers from spreading or trading on inside information. The law passed in 2012 only after CBS´ 60 Minutes aired

A second federal judge has now ordered the IRS to explain under oath how the agency lost emails from former division director Lois Lerner, the woman at the heart of the Tea Party targeting scandal. U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton told Obama administration lawyers on Friday he wants to see an affidavit explaining what happened with Lerner´s hard drive. The IRS claims her computer suffered a crash in 2011 that wiped her email records at the time clean. But at a hearing examining a lawsuit against the IRS by conservative group True the Vote, Walton said he wants to

The White House is standing by a statement on its website claiming that border security is at its strongest in history even in the face of a spiraling border crisis in Texas. Under the heading “border security” on the White House website´s section on President Obama´s immigration proposal, the whitehouse.gov website gives the president credit for having "doubled the number of Border Patrol agents," saying "today border security is stronger than it ever has been." President Obama is fond of writing off critics of so-called “global climate change” as "flat-earthers” who deny “settled science.” And it looks like the president is now taking that same dismissive tone with critics of his administration´s position on immigration reform.
