Authorities in San Francisco say their hands are tied when it comes to stopping a woman who has been breeding hundreds of rats in her home and then releasing them into public parks. Police say that when they last checked in on the woman´s room at a residential hotel, she was living with 300 rats in deplorable conditions. "We found a small room that was completely infested with rats that had actually burrowed into the walls and gone into other units as well,” Animal Care and Control Captain Denise Bongiovanni said. The woman´s social worker says the woman has a mental health

Comments:
She´s been doing this for 3 or 4 years now, but it´s her constitutional right to be insane. Meanwhile, the federal government has been breeding ´rats for 4 decades or so, to great effect.

Isn´t it the job of the health department to protect the public? It seems if the rats go into other apartments and she lets them loose in parks, the health department should find a remedy.

The City Council of San Fran debated for thee years, whether to outlaw public urination.

Three years that issue was on the agenda, and no one could make up their mind whether public urination was a bad thing and should be outlawed.

It´s interesting to notice and compare instances when "the hands of authorities" seem to be tied, and when they seem to have no limits or boundaries.

Is anyone looking into finding a solution? Not much info available in this piece.

Middle-class families should stop buying large fridges in order to save energy and tackle climate change, a government-commissioned report has suggested. Families could save up to £36 a year on their electricity bills by replacing large fridge-freezers or televisions with smaller appliances, according to a study published by the Department for Energy and Climate Change. The report found that the average family fridge had grown in volume by two fifths since 1985, amid a fashion for large American-style appliances, while the average television had grown by more than seven inches since 2004. It warned that the trend undermined

Films must “tick” at least two of three criteria: on-screen diversity; off-screen diversity and “creating opportunities and social mobility,” the paper reported. The facts are simple. The IRS systematically targeted conservative and Tea Party groups after their activism proved decisive in the 2010 midterm elections—Obama’s famous “shellacking.” The effects of this targeting were widespread. Some Tea Party groups were neutered in the months before the 2012 presidential election. Few of the explanations or justifications of this targeting provided by IRS leaders and Obama administration officials have held up. IRS officials at first denied that any targeting had taken place. That was false. They later claimed that the targeting had involved only low-level employees in the Cincinnati office. That was false. They argued

The next time you hear politicians denounce Barack Obama as a lawless, imperial president with a scandal-riddled administration, ask them what they’re going to do about it. Their gnashing of teeth over Obama’s self-granted omnipotence is repetitive. Let’s agree with our ninth president, William Henry Harrison, who said there is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive than the exercise of unlimited power. We understand the problem. The only way for politicians to fix it is with a little less talk and a lot more action. The Constitution provides the remedy for a president who commits “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
