Don’t Argue With Liberals –
It Only Encourages Them

Townhall, by Kurt Schlichter

Non-lawyers often ask me, “What is the best way to argue with a liberal?” This is silly, because there is no best way to argue with a liberal. They´re beyond argument. You might as well argue with your terrier. Take it from someone who argues with his hideous terrier all the time. But if you do choose to argue with a liberal, understand that your purpose should never be to change the liberal’s mind. You´re not going to change the liberal’s mind. Instead, if you choose to argue with a liberal, you should do it for one of two reasons – to either win over people who have not yet made up their minds, or to support people who already have begun to understand

The topic of "discussions" with liberals brings to mind several quotes from Thomas Sowell:

1. It’s bad enough that so many people believe things without any evidence. What is worse is that some people have no conception of evidence and regard facts as just someone else´s opinion.

2. It is usually futile to try to talk facts and analysis to people who are enjoying a sense of moral superiority in their ignorance.

3. It is amazing that people who believe we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospital and medication somehow think we can afford to pay for doctors, hospital and medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.

4. It is fascinating to see how some people -- in both politics and the media -- can depict their own narrow self-interest as a holy crusade for the greater good of society. The ability of the human mind to rationalize is one of the wonders of the world.

There is a proverb that says don´t argue with a fool or rebel. You will only get bruises for your trouble.(living bible)

I learned years ago the hard way that I can´t change anyone. It has to come from within that person from God giving that person the revelation of truth. But some people don´t want to know the truth. And they are lost.

I like to keep it simple. If its not someone I work closely with or care about, I just tell them they´re wrong. When they start citing sources and statistics, I just say "You´ve been lied to". No matter what never concede a point or make a counter point. Just be contrary.
Then I stand back and watch them froth at the mouth and melt down, babbling about faux news and neocons.
It doesn´t work as well when there are more than one, as they feed on each other´s frustration. They also laugh at things that arent funny and smile when they are obviously not feeling pleasant. That puzzles me but it happens.

"Never argue with idiots, they´ll just pull you down to their level and then beat you to death with their experience."

I frequent a site [Where Liberty Dwells] that has recently been infested with Liberals. I´m going to assume that Mr. Schlichter is also a member of that site --or he´s living on an alternate plane that attunes him to the site --something we don´t fully understand.

I have repeatedly pointed out to my Conservative friends that it serves no purpose to ARGUE. The only things that works is ATTACK.

Brilliant article, however I have a major exception. Never ever even try to engage the liberals Schlicter describes , period. If I discover a person (1) voted for Obama, (2) believes in global warming (or one of the current iterations.), and(3)supports Obamacare, do not engage them in any discussions. Their logic, foundation of facts, general thought processes are so obscure, devoid of sense, and lacking in any verisimilitude that you should just walk away. It will save you a lot of grief and lengthen your lifespan immeasurably.

The Progressive Liberal base their ideology on false premises. Period. Attack the untruth of their premise and never relent on that point. Then sit back and watch their head explode. Do not shout. Do not interrupt. Inform them that they no longer have critical thinking skills. They have outsourced that to the Progressives (the Borg of Socialism and Big Brother Government). Enjoy the show and repeat often!

In 2012, the British Columbia–based Native American Haida tribe launched an effort to restore the salmon fishery that has provided much of their livelihood for centuries. Acting collectively, the Haida voted to form the Haida Salmon Restoration Corporation, financed it with $2.5 million of their own savings, and used it to support the efforts of American scientist-entrepreneur Russ George to demonstrate the feasibility of open-sea mariculture — in this case, the distribution of 120 tons of iron sulfate into the northeast Pacific to stimulate a phytoplankton bloom which in turn would provide ample food for baby salmon.

The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Sarah Palin on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of President Obama, writing in a Breitbart op-ed that the influx of young illegal immigrants over the southern border "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´no mas.´ " Mixed/careless metaphors aside, this is nothing but bad news for Republicans — especially four months until the 2014 election. Palin is hardly the first GOP politician to raise the issue of impeachment over the past couple years. Others include Sens. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Reps. Blake Farenthold (R-Tex.),

Despite fiery statements issued by Hamas spokesmen over the past 48 hours, it was obvious Tuesday night that the Islamist movement was searching for ways to rid itself of the current escalation. Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. "In theory, you could report out a resolution tomorrow and vote on it," said a House GOP aide on Tuesday. "But that is not the approach [the leaders] want to take." Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. This drawn-out script builds toward a potentially dramatic floor vote held just days, or even hours, before the House adjourns on

WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

Fate hasn´t been kind to Hillary Clinton, at least not in its most recent phase. In 2008, when the plate was set for the national Democrats, she lost the nomination to Barack Obama, of scant years and no gravitas, who soared out of nowhere to wrench destiny from her on the unspecified promise of "change." Now, "change" has come, and people don´t like it. Iraq changed from a safe, stable ally (just ask Obama) to a terrorist haven, one of the reasons why, though no fellow Democrats seem likely to edge her, her chances of winning the White House seem dim. While it´s routine for staff to draft such letters for elected officials, matters of such magnitude and to other elected officials of stature are almost always in the name of the principle. Despite Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson vowing to "stem the tide" of unaccompanied illegal minors across the southern border with Mexico, thousands more are expected to enter the United States by the end of the year. With the system being overwhelmed, Border Patrol agents are concerned about minors who have admitted to being MS-13 members, a brutal street gang from El Salvador that has been successful in infiltrating American communities. Agents are also concerned about minors who have committed acts like torture and murder in their home countries before heading north to the United States. "We have six minors in Nogales

The book, written by Rather´s producer Mary Mapes, centers on the firestorm that erupted in September of 2004 after Rather reported that George W. Bush had received special treatment while serving in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War, a report that was based on documents that turned out to be forgeries.

President Barack Obama does not believe his temporary amnesty program for illegal immigrant children has exacerbated the border crisis even though the number of illegal immigrant kids crossing the border spiked the year after he unilaterally enacted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012. In fact, Obama thinks programs like DACA and a comprehensive amnesty bill are ways to solve the border crisis. Addressing the press Wednesday after meeting with Texas Governor Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis in Dallas, Obama, when asked if programs like DACA have caused or contributed to the crisis,
