Gina McCarthy: New emissions
rules are clean and affordable

BBC News, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 6/2/2014 3:24:52 PM

The Obama administration has released strong new rules targeting coal-burning power plants in an effort to curb global warming. The Environmental Protection Agency´s (EPA) Clean Power Plan seeks to cut carbon emissions by 30% by 2030. The 645-page rule is a centrepiece of President Barack Obama´s plans to leverage similar commitments other polluting nations like China and India. EPA administrator Gina McCarthy dismissed criticism the rules would lead to an exorbitant rise in electricity prices. "Any small short-term change in electricity prices would be within normal fluctuations the power sector has already dealt with for years,"

Comments:
"Any small short-term change in electricity prices" will be affordable. Well that´s good, no shocks there then--but can I keep my current electricity provider? (Puns intended.)

I´d like to know what the third world countries are doing to cut carbon emissions. How about Mexico? What is being done about volcano emissions? Emissions from forest fires? Or is the Administration only interested in cutting American jobs and paychecks and forcing higher prices for electricity, not to mention the already higher prices we pay for gas and oil. I think the sole goal of the Obama administration is to destroy the American economy and thus the country. What a treasonous bunch we have in charge of our country.

The states should tell the EPA to pound sand. And demand their senators and representatives defund the EPA since they are clearly too full of themselves. And remind the fedgov it is a creature of the states and not the other way around.

So what will be the effect of cutting carbon emissions by 30%? How will the effects be determined?

If these questions cannot be answered, all that will have been done is spending billions of US dollars on crony capitalism. All the while the average American will have to do without adequate electricity in cold winters and hot summers.

Why is it that these so called educated individuals can´t comprehend, that the non government subsidized middle worker that has to pay taxes has a finite income. When I have to pay more for basic energy needs I have less to spent in other places. I am forced to cut back on my discretionary spending like going out to eat and I sure as heck am not going to go buy a big ticket item not knowing what my winter bills are going to be like.

You think that there was a slowdown due to the increases of Obama care, you haven´t seen anything once energy prices go up.

I like how they say it´s for the health of kids and the elderly. When another chunk of taxes (because that´s what this is) is chewed out of parent´s and retirees´ income, how will they afford food prices that will rapidly escalate? Poor nutrition affects health. And, how will they afford healthcare?

For those just barely making it now, how will they afford rent/mortgage, car payments, credit card bills? Get ready for another round of mortgage foreclosures.

This is just another economy-killing dictate by our dear leader and the French-Republicans (because they won´t do anything to stop it.)

Sure it is.
Zero promised that energy prices would skyrocket. Well, that is one promise he will keep.
Emissions rules will do nothing about AGW (since it does not exist). But it will enrich the deep pocket supporters of Marxist Zero.
Face it: if alternative energy sources were viable they would not need government support.
One only supports those industries which will otherwise fail.
Why not buggy whip supports?
We can´t make energy. It has to be produced.
And Gina is wrong: the rules are neither clean, affordable, nor applicable to China.

As Israel intensifies its air strikes against Hamas´ positions in Gaza, it is important to remember that no one should blame the Israelis for this sudden resumption of violence. Whenever the Jewish state takes action to defend itself against the volleys of Hamas missiles being fired indiscriminately--and without provocation--against Israeli residential neighbourhoods, Israel usually gets all the blame. If only the Israelis would make peace with the Palestinians and stop occupying their land then none of this would be happening, or so the argument goes. If only it were that simple.
