New EPA rules could
burn coal state Democrats

Washington Times, by S.A. Miller

It’s not just electric companies and coal miners bracing for the Obama administration’s announcement Monday of tough rules to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from America’s roughly 600 coal-fired power plants, rules designed to cut U.S. power plant emissions by nearly a third in the next 15 years. Democratic candidates and the party’s campaign organizations have positioned themselves carefully in anticipation of more stringent emissions standards that will thrill the party’s environmentalist base but cause political headaches for Democrats facing tough challenges in states that produce coal or rely heavily on coal to generate electricity. About 40 percent of electricity in

Illinois is going to be hard hit. As a coal producing state, they have a lot of coal power plants. In the short term they can augment coal with natural gas. Ultimately the coal must go.

Libs call him smart... I think they confuse clever with smart. In this case too clever by half. To wit, he has sidestepped Congress in setting EPA rules and escalated the whole issue to a coal state by coal state plebiscite on those same rules on whether to send his party´s reps to Congress at all, or not. Typical obama. WTG smart guy!!!

He has no policy, no guiding principles... He has government policy open to the highest bidders, the champs for him being the hellbent environmentalist deep pockets.

News 12 reporter Sean Bergin made a controversial statement about “young black men” on TV Monday and now he has reportedly been suspended. The regional News 12 Networks, which serve New York and New Jersey, ran a story (above) about Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago, who was fatally wounded in a shootout at a Jersey City Walgreens on Sunday. The network interviewed angry residents in the segment, many of whom weren´t very sensitive to the police officer´s death. “We were besieged, flooded with calls from police officers furious that we would give media coverage to the life of a

Washington — Is racial animosity behind some political criticism of the Obama administration? That’s what Attorney General Eric Holder said on Sunday. The exact phrase he used was “racial animus,” which he said motivates some of his and Obama’s political opponents. (Snip) At the right-leaning "Hot Air!" Noah Rothman used even tougher language. The Obama administration long ago perfected the art of cultivating the sense among its defenders that lingering racism inspires most of its critics, according to Mr. Rothman. If the US was still so racially sensitive, why did it reelect an African-American president?

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has now controlled much of Iraq for over a month. The group has been prolific in its abuses even during this brief reign of cruelty: In recent weeks it´s crucified its opponents in Syria, executed scores of police officers in northern Iraq, threatened archaeological sites, and even destroyed hookah tobacco. This over-the-top brutality is a reflection of ISIS founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, once one of the world´s most notorious terrorists. SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Populist Sen. The rally on behalf of Senate candidate Natalie Tennant was the latest in a string of recent Warren appearances in red and blue states alike, where Democratic base voters have embraced her fiery message as an envoy to working-class voters frustrated with both Wall Street and the Obama administration. “Our job is to fight

Harare, Zimbabwe — President Robert Mugabe’s statement early this month that whites will no longer be allowed to own land in Zimbabwe, and that any white farmers still left will be kicked out, raised eyebrows at home and abroad. Now those comments by the long-ruling autocrat are bringing a backlash in Zimbabwe’s beleaguered trade and tourism ministries. One Harare business newspaper calls them “not just racist but also unconstitutional, retrogressive, and detrimental.” As the Monitor reported July 3, Mr. Mugabe visited a small farming community 120 miles from the capital Harare that was handing out land permits. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security.
