An Alpha Dad’s Letter To All
The “Elliot Rodgers” Out There

Townhall, by Doug Giles

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 6/1/2014 7:13:51 AM

In the event that there are more Elliot Rodgers out there that are ready to snap because girls way out of your league won’t respond to your creepy advances; and yet, you’re not completely sold on the murder/suicide option: herewith are eight surefire points to move you back to SaneTown, attract a girl worth loving and officially assimilate out of Wussville and into the rarified air of a combobulated man. 1. Drop the “poor you” crap, especially, if you live in the lap of luxury. Chicks don’t want some puss-n-boots who whines about going over molehills in the Garden of Eden.

Comments:
Amen! I would add one more to the list:

10)Be assured should an Alpha Dad find out that you so much as harm a hair on his little girls head there is no prison sentence long enough nor horrific enough to deter him from your very slow and violent death. The Alpha Mom will help clean the mess up after her turn.

No mercy.

FTA: 3. If you really want a girlfriend, then don’t go to Katy Perry concerts unless you’re gay; and if you are gay, then quit bitching about girls not liking you.

My first impression of Elliot Rodgers was that he was gay and couldn´t come to terms with it.

This advice would be ok if the guy in question weren´t mentally ill. But since he was, such advice would have fallen on deaf ears, and will fall on the deaf ears of any other mentally ill Elliots that may be lurking in the background. The tone here would never reach such persons.

Geez. I agree with everyone so far.
Teenagers are not wrapped too tight in the first place. I remember being one, and between me and my friends its a miracle any of us made it to adulthood. The hormones are screaming but chicks were in better control than we were. Society is screaming to conform but we wanted to be individuals, and the parents were just screaming. With all that internal and external screaming its hard to figure anything out.
I´m guessing the article was written for general readers rather than advice to a troubled teen. If anyone gave me snotty arsed advice like that even today I would punch their lights out.

I think evil gets explained away as mental illness far too often. There wasn´t some voice in Elliot Roger´s head forcing him to kill his fellow human beings. He Chose to murder them.

He understood what he planned to do was evil and he chose it willingly.

Doug Giles rocks!

Had the Rodgers child survived, this would be the message: Since you have committed some big perp and landed yourself on Death Row (where you´ll NEVER be executed), many bat-quano crazy women will write to you endlessly and pledge their undying love. You´d deserve their love since they are as crazed as you are. Ask any warden.

Rodgers at age eight probably had the problems fairly typical of a kids coming from a screwed-up, broken home.

Years and years and years of high-power therapy that only the rich can afford gave Rodgers all the rhetoric and excuses he needed to justify a truly serious problem.

I think #5 is right. Some might say that Jesus didn´t really drive out demons, those people were mentally ill. Maybe some so-called mentally ill are just weak individuals (for whatever reason) who are susceptible to listening to the demons in their head.

If the article/interview with the "friend" mentioned in Rodgers" "manifesto" is to be believed, Elliot never actually asked a girl for a date.

He stood apart and expected them to "notice" he was the perfect Adonis...or supreme gentleman and a) come over to him and b) throw themselves at him, while ripping off their own clothes.

The "friend" seldom saw him--and only with another friend--after public school, and remembered him as extremely shy and tongue-tied, he was amazed that Elliot used such language skills in the videos.

I would hope that this episode caused quite a few "therapists" to rethink their use of therapy. It is one thing to try to build a person´s self-esteem, but quite another to ignore reality while saying, "You are a perfect snowflake, the world should appreciate you for your uniqueness."

His decade and a half of therapy could have enabled a factual look at his behavior, at the pros and cons of continuing that behavior, and a hard look at how "others" perceived his behavior. He developed the notion that he was a "supreme gentleman" from somewhere, and that notion was not behaviorally nor factually based.

In 1776 Americans declared themselves independent of more than arbitrary rule by a distant monarch. They also severed the ties of aristocracy. This was in itself a revolutionary notion. It meant that political power, its attendant privilege and economic advantages would no longer be transferred by the blood. Earldoms, dukedoms, and kingdoms were banished from the territory and from the future of the American people. The citizen became the self-identifying unit of self-rule. The generation of English colonists who gathered together in the summer of 1776 to declare their independence from the English crown knew that they had exhausted all other remedies.

Earlier this year, the conventional wisdom was that the moderate establishment had taken control of the GOP back from the Tea Party and other "extremists." With Dave Brat defeating House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Chris McDaniel receiving the plurality of the votes in the primary for Senate in Mississippi earlier this month it appeared to be reversed. Now, with Cochran’s defeat of McDaniel in the runoff and my loss to Bob Beauprez in the Colorado gubernatorial primary, many are calling the deaths again.
