Labour Has Left the NHS in Ruins,
Only UKIP can restore Newark´s A&E

Breitbart London [UK], by Jon Stanley

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 5/31/2014 8:34:27 AM

As a doctor who has worked in the NHS for nine years, the sight of Ed Miliband in Newark Hospital telling everyone that Labour would deliver for the NHS was a sight too sore. [Snip] It left Sherwood Forest Foundation Trust with a £320m hospital in Mansfield (actually a £66m hospital with a 400 percent cost overrun but that doesn’t sound quite as sexy) that will take a total of 40 years to pay back £950m at credit card rates of interest. Add to this a £1.2billion service contract, and under Labour, patients in Newark end up paying £2 billion

Comments:
Great bit of writing showing how our healthcare costs will turn into crippling debt even worse than we anticipated. Please use as ammunition for anyone left applauding ObamaSnare.

This particular NHS "trust" (another Orwellian abuse of wordplay) covers the area where I was born--I still keep in touch with a contemporary from the village and she can´t believe how much faster our system works. Okay, used to work.

I´m nicking the doctor´s term "toxic contempt," because that´s what the VA got and that´s what we´ll all get before too long.

VIDEO: England Fans Hit Peru Footballer

Forget the 3-0 win by England last night, these fans will be going home chuffed about something completely unexpected... sort of like the England win I suppose! From what looks like one of the furthest rows back (and up) in Wembley Stadium last night, a few fans launched a paper airplane (bored much?). It was quite a feat for it to make it all the way to the pitch. What happened after that was simply sublime. Watch as a Peruvian player takes the plane to the side of the head, prompting bigger celebrations than Daniel Sturridge´s screamer.

World Health Organisation´s War

I reported on the April 25th the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) was aiming to classify electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) as tobacco products. This means that the same restrictions on advertising, taxation, access and public use will apply to them too, and may discourage tobacco smokers to quit. It was described at the time by Katherine Devlin, President Electronic Cigarette Trade Association (ECITA) as "...hugely unhelpful for public health." E-cigarettes seem to have united the libertarian right and the socially concerned left in wanting to give a choice to smokers. Jay Carney suddenly quits as White House

Jay Carney is stepping down as White House Press Secretary over ´strain´ on his family life, he announced today. But the decision to leave the Obama administration came weeks ago, multiple sources including one in the West Wing told MailOnline. ´He first started talking about it in late April,´ the White House insider said Friday after the decision was made final. [Snip] ´To be honest, the move was more about how to deflect attention away from Eric Shinseki´s resignation, and less about giving Jay a thoughtful send-off,´ the White House official said. And a in insider close to Carney confirmed

President Obama announced late Friday morning that he has accepted ´with considerable regret´ the resignation of scandal-hit Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. But the shake-up had all the markings of an Oval Office firing. [Snip] The president said Shinseki, a wounded Vietnam veteran, was a ´very good man´ and that it was his own decision to step down--he was becoming a ´distraction´ to sorting out the waiting list scandal that has engulfed the agency and the White House in recent weeks. It was ´Ric´s judgement that he could not carry out the next stages of reform without being a distraction himself,´

Hillary Clinton´s upcoming book Hard Choices contains a detailed chapter on the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Politico has learned. [Snip] Republicans are doing a disservice to the Americans who died in the attack by continuing to assassinate her character, Clinton suggests. ´Those who exploit this tragedy over and over as a political tool minimize the sacrifice of those who served our country,´ she writes. ´I will not be a part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans. It’s just plain wrong, and it’s unworthy of our great country. Those who insist on politicizing the tragedy will have

In a ´two-fingers up to the establishment´ gesture, UKIP councillor Donna Rachel Edmunds has shot back at her local authority´s insistence that she needs "equality training" following her claim that business owners should not be forced to serve anyone they don´t want to. In the battle of liberty versus state-imposed "equality", Ms Edmunds contested that "all business owners, Christian, Muslim, gay, straight, should be allowed to withhold their services from whomever they chose whenever they chose. Clashes have escalated in eastern Ukraine after dozens of rebel fighters surrounded and stormed the separatist headquarters in Donetsk, in the most serious case of insurgent infighting seen so far. Pro-Russian forces from the Vostok Battalion broke through the regional government building and demanded activists from the so-called People´s Republic of Donetsk - which was set up in April - leave the premises. The insurgents then arrested members of the rival group, before removing their flags from check-points in the area. The standoff was allegedly started amid reports of looting from a supermarket near the airport, which the Vostok Battalion allege was

Black Beach Week used to get all the glory: Every Memorial Day weekend, 300,000 black people gathered in Miami Beach to get their freak on. And also create a tsunami of violence, robbery, shootings, carjackings, vandalism, mayhem, noise and trash. DENVER— Colorado´s Civil Rights Commission on Friday ordered a baker to make wedding cakes for same-sex couples, finding his religious objections to the practice did not trump the state´s anti-discrimination statutes. The unanimous ruling from the seven-member commission upheld an administrative law judge´s finding in December that Jack Phillips violated civil rights law when he refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple in 2012. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki was openly mocked by the assembled press corps Thursday after saying President Obama “doesn’t give himself enough credit for what he’s done around the world.” Associated Press reporter Matt Lee asked sarcastically whether he deserved 200 percent credit, while another one wondered for what “accomplishments” Psaki meant he deserves more praise. “For engagement initiatives like Iran, what we’ve done on Ukraine, efforts to dive in and engage around the world,” she said. “I mean, Russia has still annexed Crimea,” another reporter asked. “I mean, Iran — there’s ongoing negotiations,

Yesterday’s speech to the graduating class of West Point by President Obama may be remembered as the signal that his presidency has entered a crisis of confidence, much as Jimmy Carter’s infamous “malaise” speech has gone down in history as marking a failed presidency. Not only was the content of the speech delusional (calling Russia “isolated” in the wake of a massive and historic gas deal with China that marks a major rapprochement between two powers hostile to the United States; claiming Ukraine as an example of the success of his coalition strategy), the delivery was wooden, as if Obama

President Obama will call on all American adults Friday to make a long-term commitment to mentoring black and Hispanic boys as part of his initiative to help young men of color succeed in school. Aides said Mr. Obama will review with his Cabinet Friday a report from a White House task force on his program called “My Brother’s Keeper,” which he launched in February. “It is important that all children have caring adults who are engaged in their lives,” the report states. “But too many young people lack this support. Lihue, Hawaii - A judge sentenced a Hawaii man to one year of probation and a $200 fine for making his son walk a mile home from school as a form of discipline. Judge Kathleen Watanabe called the punishment "old-school" and no longer appropriate, the Garden Island newspaper reported Thursday. Robert Demond of Kilauea said he picked up his son from school and asked about a matter that had been brought to his attention. When the son didn´t respond, Demond made him walk home to think about his actions. The age of the boy is unclear.
