Who is Josh Earnest?
Washington Post, by Katie Zezima

Original Article

Posted By:ElSid, 5/30/2014 3:59:25 PM

With Press Secretary Jay Carney stepping down, Josh Earnest will now become the public face of the Obama administration. It´s not a completely unfamiliar position for Earnest, who is now Carney´s top deputy and has stood in his place at the briefing room podium. Earnest, 39, is a longtime Obama staffer, joining Obama´s first presidential campaign as Iowa communications director in 2007. Earnest came to Washington when Obama took office. Earnest grew up near Kansas City, Mo. His mother is a psychologist and father the athletic director of a private school in Kansas City. It wasn´t exactly a political family.

Comments:
Article states toward the end that he proposed to his wife during one of 0bama´s Hawaii vacations. Mr. Press Secretary: "First question. Since your wife is a secretary for the Department of the Treasury, what is the justification and who paid for her trip with you to Hawaii?" Obviously from this article, he´ll be getting softball questions and giving similar preprogrammed talking points responses.

Beirut - Fears continue to spread in Lebanon about the presence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after the Sunni militant group claimed responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on a central Beirut hotel, the third such attack in two weeks. The militant group has expanded its operations in both Syria and Iraq, giving rise to fears that it could also seek to start an insurgency against the Lebanese government at a time when the country still has no president. In a statement published on Friday, ISIS announced that a Saudi suicide bomber had attacked the Duroy Hotel in central Beirut. Three police officers were wounded in the attack.

A California man decided to turn the fear that drones will be abused by law enforcement officials on its head by using the technology to monitor police behavior. “I don’t think it’s a substitute for a hand-held camera, but it’s definitely a complement,” Daniel Saulmon of Torrance told the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Saulmon said he has been filming police behavior with the technology for a month, typically monitoring DUI checkpoints to make sure police aren’t abusing their power. He added that he is careful not to run afoul of any laws while filming. “I have to use common sense with it,” Saulmon said. “It’s easy to fly.

The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories.
