Maya Angelou, an author more revered than read, passed away at 86 on Wednesday. She is survived by her seven autobiographies. In addition to Angelou playing Boswell to Angelou’s Johnson, Angelou acted, wrote poetry, danced, and sang. Was she an actress, poet, dancer, or singer? People liked her politics, and, out of ideological solidarity, reflexively praised her talents in multitudinous endeavors. At her most irresponsible, she embraced Fidel Castro, Malcolm X, and Bill Clinton—a mistake for a lady of any age. (Snip) In this spirit, she insisted that others call her “Dr. Angelou” though she never obtained a college degree. The

Who paid her salary at Wake Forest?

Why?

One day on a whim at a bookstore I thumbed through her book at the time.

I thought that I could write a better more meaningful piece of poetry with just a sleight change in the randomization of works from any written source.
This was twenty years ago and have been amazed since that she managed to live off a sugar daddy at Wake Forest. What a loser school to support trash like this.

Ah ha! I could never figure out why Bubba was attracted to her until I read this article. She was in the world´s oldest profession! I´m positive Bubba was a little short of cash one day, and said, "Honey, if ah´m ever elected President, you can read a poem at mah inauguration!"

It has been said that politics is the world´s second oldest profession; one with even fewer scruples than the first!

Harry Truman used to joke that he had the choice to either be a piano player in a whorehouse, or a politician. He said that he found that there is hardly any difference...

If ever there was a good reason to trust your gut, the Maya Angelou fraud is it.

Speaking ill of the dead isn´t nice, but speaking the truth about the dead is necessary. I had no idea how far her corruption and deception actually went, but I always knew her "poetry" was ridiculous and her supercilious Queen of Poetry act was phony.

Now, I want to see the libs try to canonize her.

One summer my youngest son was supposed to read "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" for school and write a report on it. My wife read it first and it was age inappropriate and just filthy. He never read it and in the fall it was never mentioned. I sure many parents complained. Perhaps obama learned from her how to be a faux President like she was a faux Doctor (PhD). She was just part of this country "Slouching Towards Gomorrah".

I am amazed at Maya´s background! The best part of her poem about the caged bird is the title. In college, education majors were encouraged to make a great fuss over any black writers for early childhood classes. Miss Maya has already been sainted in the education departments of colleges and schools. I mostly resent her anti-America statements. However, many blacks blame this country for their failures, whereas, whites have only their parents, or their own bad choices to blame.

No wonder tuition prices have increased at ten times the rate of inflation. Some serious reform needs to take place at universities, and getting rid of this sort of deadwood (in this case, literally) at these institutions would be a perfect place to begin.

Angelou´s second grade type ramblings make Bob Dylan lyrics seem understandable.

Those who public mourn her death privately express relief that there is no risk of her torturing another presidential inauguration audience with a stream of incoherence.

What better introduction to life at dear old Duke than "Dr." Angelou´s racist jive-talk?

Nice piece by Flynn, who writes: "Convincing the world of your greatness requires a greatness. This is especially true of the mediocre." Immodesty is an absolute requirement when faking greatness and suckering the gulls.

As a writer Ms. Angelou was a monumental bore, a jejune hack whose "poetry" was grating, mock-pompous, ridiculous, and not even remotely poetic. In reality it was ultra politically correct prose in stanza form. Some people go for that stuff.

Recalling (real poet) James Dickey´s panning of Allen Ginsburg´s "Kaddish" a half century ago as she read "Rock, Paper, Scissors" at the Clinton inaugural, I was thinking that it takes more than this to make poetry. It just does. And her seven autobiographies have Obama, another immodest pretender, beaten by five. At least to this point. He´ll have to do something about that and get his ghostwriters cranked up.

I never read much of her poetry because it fell flat on me. It didn´t inspire me. So what? It spoke to some; it didn´t trip my trigger. So what?

Almost every day, some big female name is tearfully "Sharing". Maybe they all happened. Maybe none of them happened. But, as an earlier poster said, Maya Angelou/Marguerite Ann Johnson hasn´t exactly left a trail of truth in her wake.

Federal employees, like all Americans, are entitled to hold passionate political beliefs. Most executive branch federal employees, however, may not engage in certain political activities, thanks to an anti-conflict of interest principle enshrined in a federal law called the Hatch Act. To wit, President Bush requested the resignation of his GSA administrator in 2008 after the US Office of Special Counsel determined she had violated federal law by participating in a video conference with Karl Rove and sending out partisan letters. That´s up from 5 percent in June, and is the highest number Gallup has registered for immigration since 2006, when 15 percent said it was the nation´s most pressing problem. Gallup’s new survey found immigration is virtually tied with “dissatisfaction with government” as the nation´s top problem. The economy and unemployment rank below immigration and “dissatisfaction with government" as top problems, the new poll found. How would you feel if someone promised to give you a car, and then reneged on that pledge? That’s how all Americans should feel when it comes to ObamaCare -- because Barack Obama’s failed and discredited campaign promise to lower health insurance premiums has cost the average American family an amount equal to the price of many new cars. During his 2008 campaign, one of then-Senator Obama’s most audacious promises was that his health plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family. His repeatedly made his pledge on videotape; you can view those promises here. But health insurance premiums

Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. [Snip] It can take up to 10 minutes for every radio, TV, cable and satellite provider to

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
