The National Park Service will start considering more sites important to the history of LGBT rights in the U.S., based on the recommendation of a recently convened panel through the Department of Interior. The panel of 18 scholars is examining the history of the LGBT movement, according to a report from the Associated Press. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell will announce the panel on Friday. There are three federally recognized sites in the U.S. chosen in part for their importance to LGBT history, one of which is landmarked — the Stonewall Inn in New York gained the distinction in 2000. I guess the government has such a giant surplus of money that they can afford to do this honoring a group that makes up less than 5% of the population of this nation.

I´m pretty sure this is how ancient Rome felt about the time it became so decadent and immoral that the Mongrel hordes easily overran it...

Male homosexuality isn´t just 2% of the population. If it was 2%, it would not be feared.

The reality is that many men are capable of homosexual activity under certain circumstances. Men who have never thought about men sexually have the capacity to turn to men in situations where women are absent or where the stigma on male-male relations is reduced. The Bible´s admonition of male homosexuality was based on the notion that a permissive society would turn men away from women and towards men. It´s the turning that´s the key. The turning is largely the reason for the fear of male homosexuality.

As for this National Park registry of important sites, I can understand Stonewall being there but please don´t make it every nook and cranny where some man in a woman´s dress mimes badly on a poorly lit stage.

Harare, Zimbabwe — President Robert Mugabe’s statement early this month that whites will no longer be allowed to own land in Zimbabwe, and that any white farmers still left will be kicked out, raised eyebrows at home and abroad. Now those comments by the long-ruling autocrat are bringing a backlash in Zimbabwe’s beleaguered trade and tourism ministries. One Harare business newspaper calls them “not just racist but also unconstitutional, retrogressive, and detrimental.” As the Monitor reported July 3, Mr. Mugabe visited a small farming community 120 miles from the capital Harare that was handing out land permits. The group says the U.S. Department of Interior approved mining plans without enough public involvement, and gave little heed to the pollution caused by digging, shipping and burning coal. The group asked the courts to stop mining until the plans are re-done. The
