Lawmakers and interest groups
clash as Obama prepares to announce
performance standard for power plants

Fox News, by Doug McKelway

Lawmakers and Washington interest groups are engaged in a battle over whether looming EPA rules will help or hurt as President Obama prepares to announce a highly anticipated performance standard for power plants June 2. The proposed standard will require existing natural gas and coal-fired power plants to release no more than 1,000 pounds of CO2 per megawatt-hour of electricity - easily done with natural gas but unobtainable by present day coal plants. Although coal still provides almost 40 percent of U.S. electricity, the White House´s new point man on energy, John Podesta, said Wednesday that climate change necessitates coal’s demise. "President

Comments:
John Podesta, said Wednesday that climate change necessitates coal’s demise?? His arrogance and deranged ideology are extremely disturbing! Who made him the arbiter of these decisions that will impact millions and millions of people?? It´s outrageous.

Easy to solve. Cut off all utilities to Democrats. ´Greenhouse gas emissions´ will plummet, and the rest of us can go about our lives in peace.

How much longer is Congress going to tolerate this man´s relentless destruction of our economy? This insane action is so egregious it demands immediate action. Congress, do your duty!

Gas power plants can meet the standard, but when they wanted to build a gas power plant not too far away from here, the NIMBY´s (not in my back yard) went berserk.

Wonder how they´ll handle the rolling brown-outs when it´s July and their a/c won´t run.

John Podesta is not only incredibly creepy, he is a big hypocrite. Didn´t he just fly to Afghanistan with mr. o. to see his son who is stationed there? Elites get to spend all the carbon they want, the rest of the citizens, not so much.

Leftists love the power to cause unbearable Misery for the citizens of the country.

Fact: "Take our country back" said by Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean. Was it racist then? In reality it is Eric Holder who is the coward as he hides behind the racial fires he deliberately stokes. To quote a famous president and clearly a better one "there you go again" Eric Holder. Holder is stoking the racial fires at a time when his pal President Obama is under fire from all sides for his own bad policies and mounting failures. He can´t cite specifics because that´s not his goal. If there were cases worth charging then charge under existing law. Rational Americans

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

Last night on Fox News´ Special Report, Kirsten Powers made the case that the kids arriving on the border shouldn´t be treated as illegal immigrants but as refugees. Powers apparently went to the border and talked to some of the kids there and reports they had some harrowing stories of the reasons they made the dangerous journey through Mexico to America. I suspect Powers is right that if more Americans could hear the stories these kids are telling fewer of them would clamor for these kids to be sent home. President Obama probably miscalculated when he refused to go to

Conference Committee

Virtually every key House Republican, from Speaker John Boehner on down, has vowed to oppose a conference committee with the Senate´s immigration bill passed last year. And lawmakers working to craft legislation to address the tens of thousands of children streaming across the southern U.S. border say it won´t touch citizenship for illegal aliens, increased visas, or any other topics than border security. But a key veteran of the immigration wars on Capitol Hill is warning that legislation to amend a 2008 law being cited for cumbersome, years-long deportations would theoretically open the door to a conference committee on the controversial

HOUSTON, Texas--Despite the border crisis that involves more than 1,000 illegal immigrants entering the country each day, Texas Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee apparently believes the U.S.-Mexico border is "under control." On MSNBC she recently said, "I disagree it is in devastating condition. I think with now 21,000 border patrol agents it is under control." She added that Border Patrol agents told her that "they are able to do their job, even though they had been called into service to change diapers and make formula."

Obama’s legacy may be a

President Obama’s defiant emphasis on executive action reveals a larger failure looming for his legacy: His inability to work with Republicans means that he’s unlikely to score even one significant legislative achievement over the final years of his presidency. Unless Democrats win back the House and hold onto the Senate in November, a scenario dismissed by most political analysts, Mr. Obama has said goodbye long ago to his biggest accomplishments in Congress. They occurred back in 2010, when Democrats controlled the House and Senate, and Mr. Obama signed into law Obamacare, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform act and a two-year extension

A prominent law professor and avowed supporter of the Obama White House will tell the House on Wednesday that the president has created one of the biggest constitutional crises in the country’s history and will endorse House Republicans’ effort to sue to rein him in. Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University, will say President Obama is trampling the founders’ vision for the country in his push to circumvent Congress, and he will demand Republicans and Democrats alike forget their party labels to unify against this White House’s power grab. “What we are witnessing today is one of the

Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., is probably the most libertarian member of the U.S. House, which means he´s made some enemies on K Street. They are funding his primary opponent, Brian Ellis. The latest campaign filing from Ellis´s campaign shows some of the business interests that want Amash gone. Some highlights: PACs: Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Michigan, $2,500 Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, $2,000 Association For Advanced Life Underwriting, $5,000 The Dow Chemical Company, $5,000 National Association of Home Builders, $5,000 Business Industry Political Action Committee, $2,000 Michigan Beer & Wine Wholesalers Assoc., $1,000 Michigan Chamber of Commerce, $2,000 Food Marketing Institute, $2,500 Lobbyists: Former John Boehner aide, current American Express

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on Tuesday blamed last October´s government shutdown on Republicans wanting to deny women access to birth control. No really. Warren said this on the Senate floor while defending the Democrats´ deceptively titled “Women´s Health Protection Act.” “Remember last year´s government shutdown that nearly tanked our economy?” Warren asked. “That fight started with a GOP effort to hold the whole operation of the federal government hostage in order to try to force Democrats and the president to let employers deny workers access to birth control.” Um, no, sorry. The government shutdown occurred over a continuing resolution to fund the government

News 12 New Jersey reporter Sean Bergin has reportedly been suspended for comments he made on-the-air Sunday evening about the black community. After reporting on a suspect in the fatal shooting of Jersey City police officer Melvin Santiago, Bergin told his viewers that News 12 was “besieged” with phone calls from police officials “furious that we would give media coverage to the life of a cop killer.” Those complaints were “understandable,” Bergin said. “We decided to air it because it’s important to shine a light on the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities.” He then made the

Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer isn’t so sure Democratic Sen. Harry Reid is on his medication. Krauthammer speculated on Reid’s mental health on “Special Report with Bret Baier” Tuesday night. The panel, including Baier and Fox News contributor Mara Liasson, was discussing the influx of illegal immigrants — mostly women and children — flooding over the southern border. Liasson explained that President Obama has always said he “wanted the flexibility to treat kids from Central America the same as Mexico” but never explicitly asked Congress to change the Bush-era 2008 sex trafficking law. “He wanted Congress to go first,” she said.

Just five days away from the deadline for a final nuclear agreement with Iran, Secretary of State John Kerry said “very real gaps” remain between P5+1 and Iranian negotiators in Vienna. “Despite the difficulties of these negotiations, I am confident that the United States and our partners in the P5+1 remain as squarely focused as ever on testing whether or not we can find a negotiated solution to this most pressing international security imperative,” Kerry told reporters today. He said he’d had “lengthy conversations” with Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif over the past few days “about what Iran is willing
