Democratic fundraisers hosted at

A top aide to Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., hosted two fundraisers for Democratic lawmakers during the wave elections of 2006 and 2008 at the home in which she lives and which she rents to her boss. Kay Webber is Cochran´s longtime executive assistant, someone so important to his duties that she frequently travels with him on official trips overseas. Cochran lists the basement apartment of her home on Maryland Avenue NE in Washington as his local residence. "Cochran spokesman Jordan Russell and others say Webber, 76, who has worked for the senator for 33 years, is a key employee and trusted advisor,"

Do the GOP barnacles (I love that term) really believe she is his executive assistant? Can she type or does she just vitally serve the needs of Thad Cochran...on the taxpayer dime?

Doesn´t matter, #1....these assumptions only apply to republicans. Think Bawnwy Fwank and the unfair ´assumption´ (actually, proven) that his boyfriend was running an illegal escort service out of their apartment. It would have been homophobic to suggest that the MA-D knew anything about it.

I care nothing for either Cochran or Frank, just despise the hypocrisy

Oh come on, face it! All the critters in DC are friends, acquaintances, social elites, etc. and all get along with each other. There is no real distinction among them. There are those who are connected and there are the outsiders. These creatures are all connected and they are also in bed with the top Fortune 500 corporations, big banks and the Hollywood and entertainment moguls. We, the tiny peons are the outsiders. We all know it but don´t recognize it. We say that England has royalty and we don´t but at least in England, you can actually see and talk to your Parliament members. They still are accessible over there. Here, even city government employees are too good to deal with the little people anymore. This is exactly why the TEA parties must continue and those TEA parties that start looking like the establishment need to be disbanded or immediately reformed before they evolve into these creatures.

Senator Cochran should do the right thing and resign.
Did his wife really need to be confined all these years or was it for his convenience and that of his EA girlfriend.
Take your EA and go off into what is left of your life.
A Senate seat is an honor and privilege and you have forfeited it by your behavior.

They may teach business classes at Brooklyn College, but the school’s liberal leaders have told two of the country’s top businessmen to take their money and shove it because they don’t like their conservative politics, a veteran faculty member charges. The CUNY college has turned down a $10 million grant offer from the Koch brothers, said business professor Mitchell Langbert — who called the decision by School of Business Dean William Hopkins a knee-jerk reaction to the mega-rich industrialists’ support of Republican causes. “It’s political correctness. It’s intolerance about anyone who doesn’t toe the left-wing line,” Langbert told The Post. Langbert

Starbucks is raising prices on some of its drinks by 5 cents to 20 cents starting next week, and customers can also soon expect to pay $1 more for the packaged coffee it sells in supermarkets. The Seattle-based chain also raised prices on some of the drinks sold in its cafes a year ago. The latest hikes don´t seem to be driven purely by the surging bean costs that have pressured other coffee sellers to raise prices, however, since Starbucks has said it already locked in its coffee contracts for the rest of this fiscal year and much of the

There are plenty of circumstances in which that pithy imperative —variously attributed to Disraeli, Queen VIctoria, and sundry other worthies — wins my admiration. “Never apologize, never explain”: I like the blunt, no-nonsense aroma it exudes, the hinted-at announcement that there will be no wallowing in unproductive self-recriminations or manufactured displays of contrition. There is a reason, I think, that the motto seems traceable to Victorian times: an era when manly forthrightness still had a prominent place in the economy of public life. But context is everything. It is one thing to say “Never apologize, never explain” as an adjunct

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs disclosed Friday during a congressional hearing that Sharon Helman, the former Phoenix VA Health Care System administrator placed on leave last month amid a patient-care scandal, continues to receive her full salary — roughly $170,000 annually. The VA has acknowledged her facility manipulated patient wait-time records to trigger bonuses. The U.S. House Veterans´ Affairs Committee on Friday examined how the VA awards bonuses and whether the criteria used to grant them reward executives who engage in bad behavior or create incentives to falsify information. The VA also provided records showing the majority of its

An IRS official whose emails were “lost” visited the White House frequently during the agency’s targeting of conservatives and met with a top assistant to President Obama who exchanged confidential information on conservative groups with the IRS. The IRS recently claimed that it lost emails from Nikole Flax, who served as chief of staff to former IRS commissioner Steven Miller. Flax was one of seven IRS employees including ex-official Lois Lerner whose emails to and from White House officials and other Obama administration agencies were purportedly deleted and could not be handed over to congressional investigators. The invaluable TaxProf blog notes that Obama has proposed a steep increase for the IRS ?-- a 10.5% budget increase. The IRS basically has been weaponized by Democrats in the Senate and by Barack Obama to stifle the work of political opponents and restrict the exercise of our First Amendment rights. Lois Lerner has refused to answer questions in the People’s House (not that the Democrat-controlled Senate would ever subject Obama to scrutiny). ‘R-E-S-P-E-C-T,” the song goes. It is easy enough to spell, but for some vocal critics of President Barack Obama, it seems exceedingly hard to do. As the president moves toward the land of the lame ducks, his political enemies are calling for blood. That’s no shocker at this stage of a presidency. In this case, the cuts go deeper. For some, it is not enough to disagree. Some high-status public figures seem determined to demean, denigrate and ridicule the president of the United States. On June 12 the Speaker of the U.S. House stepped to a podium and insulted Obama for his handling of

There are times that I have senior moments and forget certain names and events but after the recent Obama Iraq war implosion, I´m convinced most political pundits are suffering from them as well. What is unusual is that this revision of history is being committed by conservatives who should know better. Recent commentary by Glenn Beck, George Will and Charles Krauthammer indicate that they have significant memory lapses about why we went to war in Iraq. They now suggest that it was a wrong decision whereas my complaint is that we took too long to invade and oust Saddam Hussein.

Noted management expert and Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen was apparently called out of retirement — like the Ted Williams of evasive, unapologetic bureaucrats — to destroy what is left of his agency’s credibility. At immediate issue is two years of subpoenaed e-mails from former IRS official Lois Lerner to outside agencies, lost in a convenient computer crash. The possible involvement of other agencies is one focus of a congressional investigation into the heightened IRS scrutiny of conservative nonprofit groups before the 2012 election. In recent congressional testimony, Koskinen admitted that the e-mails

US Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Iraq´s capital, Baghdad as Sunni insurgents expand their control of towns across north-western Iraq. In Egypt on Sunday, Mr Kerry warned that Sunni militants Isis´ "ideology of violence and repression is a threat not only to Iraq but to the entire region". On Sunday rebels--spearheaded by Isis militants--captured border crossings to Syria and Jordan. The strategically important airport in the northern Tal Afar has also fallen. The town controls the main road from the Syrian border to Mosul, Iraq´s second biggest city, which was captured by the rebels two weeks ago.
