Chris Christie To Stump For Gov. Susana
Martinez, Rekindling Buzz About 2016

Fox News Latino & Associated Press, by Staff

Consider it Throwback Thursday for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez. That is when the two Republicans, who have lavished praise upon each other in recent years, will join forces again. On Thursday Martinez, who traveled to New Jersey last year to campaign for her Republican colleague in his re-election bid, will be the one laying out the welcome mat as Christie stops in New Mexico to stump for her. A June 3 primary election will decide which of five Democratic candidates will challenge Martinez in November in her bid to win re-election. Christie previously lent his support for

This is an interesting combo. I was unaware of her support for him in the past. I haven´t seen Fox News report this.

My "gut instinct" was to be cautious about Chris Christie until I let others here (and Ann Coulter) influence my thinking about him. I figured they knew more about him and could give me better information than my intuition. I should have stuck with my intuition.

My instinct has been, and is, that Susana Martinez in about as conservative as Chris Christie. I´m not a fan.

Chis "no civilian needs a pistol" Christie does no one a favor by coming to New Mexico.

I thought more of Martinez than this. She should be looking to Ted Cruz, not RINO King.

Susana Martinez latching up with the Jersey Blimp would be akin to the once-promising Kelly Ayotte sandwiching herself between McCain and Graham, the result being a compromising conservative.

Christie is sort of like the Chairman of the Republican Governors Committee and has command of some big bucks. If you have a tough election coming up he´s a good guy to have on your side. I really like Martinez. Being a governor always makes a Republican look less conservative and a Democrat more conservative. You could look at a number of things Palin did as a governor and say she was no conservative too. Howard Dean had an A+ rating from the NRA as governor of Vermont.

No, actually #4, I have not forgotten that. It was because of that endorsement that I paid closer attention to Martinez.

Martinez was all for Palin´s help to get herself elected, but at some point afterward when she was interviewed for a big spread about her political rise to prominence. The interviewer asked her about Palin. I got the impression that Martinez was intentionally distancing herself from Palin since she no longer needed her endorsement. It made me think her campaign association with Sarah Palin may have been a bit disingenuous. It was just something I picked up on, along with other subtleties, that raised little caution flags with me.

That said, she is a "moderate" that is preferable to any Dem and some Republicans.

Susana Martinez has been a successful conservative Governor of a strongly Democrat state. She has done so, in large part, because she doesn´t just say the things we want to hear. She can explain her views. She is not a reactionary.
As 2016 looks now, our ticket should be Mike Pence and Susana Martinez. Marco Rubio and Bobby Jindal works, too.
We have to govern after the election.
We have to win first. That means we will need to win the votes of the persuadable people to whom Reagan appealed.
Chopping away at our own because we can´t stand the idea that there are any other ideas makes the Republicans less likely to be successful.
The Dems count on that.

I agree that "chopping away at our own because we can´t stand the idea that there are any other ideas makes the Republicans less likely to be successful".

If Sarah Palin had less strength of character and principled beliefs, she would have been "chopped" to death by some fellow Republicans by now. But, thank goodness, she is still out there drawing crowds of people to support conservative Republican candidates despite it all.

There are probably at least three factors that are contributing to the current influx of unaccompanied minors at the border. Let´s consider them using some charts on the basic data. Before we get started on the factors, let´s note that everyone agrees the number of minors at the border has been roughly doubling every year since about 2011. This helpful chart comes from this report. It´s also important to note that this surge is not coming from Mexico but from countries in Central America. These are FY13 figures, the last complete year, but reports indicate FY14 figures are probably very
