A ‘Monumental Mistake’? Obama
Details Afghanistan Withdrawal Plan

PJ Media, by Bridget Johnson

WASHINGTON — National security hawks in Congress quickly slammed President Obama’s Rose Garden announcement detailing the drawdown of American troops in Afghanistan as a “monumental mistake” put into action to score political points. Obama said the U.S. objectives requiring a residual force beyond the year-end withdrawal will be “disrupting threats posed by al-Qaeda, supporting Afghan security forces, and giving the Afghan people the opportunity to succeed as they stand on their own.” “First, America’s combat mission will be over by the end of this year. Starting next year, Afghans will be fully responsible for securing their country. American personnel will

It´s all calculated.
Remember when we fought over there so we wouldn´t have to engage those barbarians on our own soil? Kiss those days good-bye.
What a colossal fiasco!

He certainly does not look like much of a poker player. The problem is he puts the lives of the military at risk by telling the enemy his grand politically based plan in advance.

Obama probably outed the CIA station chief as a message, a kind of ante to the enemy that he is indeed going to forfeit, sacrifice the effort. Using the same flow chart as used in Iraq, he will feign inability to come to agreement re Status of Forces BSA, blame it on Karzai, then he is out the window. Notice Obama did not say "won", just "combat mission ended" and "significantly diminished". Alll wars might end but democrats end them by giving up. Winning means leaving an occupation force behind, indefinitely.

Mistakenly ID a low level desk jockey at CIA headquarters and you get hounded for years worth of headlines, intense investigation, and a jail term. I wonder if the political party of the perpetrator has anything to do with the difference?

By announcing detailed plans for withdrawal, President Obama is exposing our remaining troops, civilian contractors, their support staff, and friendly domestic and foreign workers to horrible risk and that is unconscionable. It’s not as though attacks on them will come as a surprise – they are seen as inevitable as the President’s withdrawal timetable leaves them increasingly undermanned and unprotected.

President Obama continually exploits the roles of President and Commander in Chief for his own self-aggrandizement but gives no evidence of having any concern or feelings of responsibility for the citizens, troops, and supporting personnel who he carelessly continues to place in harm’s way.

That the President arrogantly ignores the predictions for the devastating outcome of his withdrawal ‘strategy’ proves, once again, that there is something inherently very wrong with him – he has absolutely no inner moral guiding compass assisting him in traversing the political maze in which he stumbles and lurks.

If soldiers and workers now in Afghanistan eventually come home safely or are given safe refuge elsewhere, it will be despite the efforts of President Obama rather than because of them.

Obama retreats from Afghanistan to aid and comfort the Muslin Brotherhood. Barack Hussein is on the side of the Muslims. This is what a chip on your shoulder does, it colors your views. Hussein Obama detests America and with this one more complete retreat by 2016 he sticks it to us. The blacks, illegals and single women on Food a Stamps will do fine out of this deal with the Devil. The greatest country on earth destroyed by a pot and tobacco smoker arriving from far away that does not share the American experience. The has spent more in social Communitarianism and increased our debt further than any president in history. He does not share in the American Experience. His slave past exists only in his own mind. And this guy beats US every time with his handouts for votes. And Hillary will do the same. Leaving Irak, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran and Libya to our Muslim sworn enemies is something we will have to confront later, when we will have only debilitated armed forces left.

Haven´t we been fighting since 2001? Are we to keep fighting forever? I think thirteen years is long enough. We don´t need dads and kids sharing stories of the same war. Fighting could go on until all the men of age in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Chechnya, and Saudi Arabia have been killed at this rate. Enough is enough. We´ve done the training. We´ve given Afghanistan a chance to stand on its own. If the people want oppression instead of freedom, that´s their choice.

#17, normally I would heartily disagree with a statement like yours, but unfortunately, with muslim countries it is true. The people in those countris do not have the courage or the will to fight for and defend their freedom. They seem perfectly happy to be under the yoke of the insane sixth century false prophet and his equally insane progeny. I believe that freedom is unsustainable unless you win it for yourself, as we Americans have done.

The big mistake in Afghanistan was putting troops on the ground in the first place after watching them kick Russian butt for 15 years.

Until now, the politics of immigration have been seen as a no-lose proposition for President Obama and the Democrats. If they could get a comprehensive overhaul passed, they would win. And if Republicans blocked it, the GOP would further alienate crucial Hispanic and moderate voters. But with the current crisis on the Southwest border, where authorities have apprehended tens of thousands of unaccompanied Central American children since October, that calculus may be shifting. Republicans and even some Democrats have accused Obama of being insufficiently engaged in a calamity that many say he should have seen coming.
