Cafeteria politics: Michelle Obama starts
food fight with lawmakers on school lunches

Washington Times, by Ben Wolfgang

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 5/27/2014 10:59:34 PM

First lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday chided congressional Republicans for attempting to roll back her school lunch standards, calling the effort “unacceptable” and accusing lawmakers of playing politics with the health of young students. The unusual step by Mrs. Obama, who largely has avoided political scuffles during her husband’s time in office, underscores the growing unrest around the initiative and a real chance that the standards, at least in their current form, may not survive much longer. The first lady now is going toe-to-toe with lawmakers in the House and Senate, where proposals to alter the lunch guidelines are gaining

She has no power; holds absolutely no sway. The congressmen have every right, and reason, to simply don´t allow her in the room.

The sad thing is, I can absolutely picture this brute demanding that they, ´talk to the hand´.

What a low rent piece of garbage.

And her issues? Don´t even get me started on the fact that she is well aware of her intellectual inferiority.

And the fact that her arse is HUGE.

A law should be passed to require first ladies to keep quiet. It actually would be a more peaceful world if all women were required to keep their big mouths shut on issues. There are enough girly men around to state a woman´s issues. Babies, diapers, cooking, taxi drive kids. That sort of thing.

It´s very simple. School children should have the same lunch that Mrs. Obama´s children have at Sidwell Friends School. This lady does what she does because no one stops her. What´s unacceptable is that elected persons all across the US have daily access to microphones and never use them to save us.

Michelle spends $80,000 a year to send her girls to a school that serves meatball sandwiches and ice cream. What in the world is the matter with Michelle that she really thinks she is the lunch authority?

#7, we must remember that liberals want laws that they are not subject to. The cost, and lunch menus, of Sidwell Friends are perfect examples. The Obama girls will never eat meals at school that Michelle wants everyone else´s kids to eat. The Obama children attend a private school only wealthy elite parents can afford.

Her actions are par for the course for wealthy liberals.

The subject is mundane to be sure but we should never forget that the subject is immaterial.

Michelle Obama´s sole objective is to have ´good deeds´ reflect credit on her. This also explains perfectly her emotional reaction to any opposition to or disruption in her grand plan.

And, as mentioned, doesn´t apply to them.

I will say that the government strong-arm tactics have caught the attention of millions of school children everywhere. And some of them are smart enough to lay the blame where it belongs. Michelle can´t ruin school lunches alone; she´s had hundreds of lawmakers help her. Let´s start outing them, too.

Article describes how Congress is going to address the problem and fix it. Sheesh. Does it not occur to the author that the Federal Government should not be dictating what our children eat? Big Government is never the solution. Even if Congress could come up with a perfect solution (they cannot) what´s to stop the next preening Marie Antoinette Obama to simply foist their food-nazism on us once again? Local control; its not perfect, but it is best.

Obama administration announces
new steps to stem flow

Washington Post, by David Nakamura    Original Article

The Obama administration toughened its border policies Friday, hoping to stem a surge of women and children into the United States by sending a stronger message that unauthorized migrants will be turned away. The steps, aimed at those entering from Mexico, include adding more immigration judges to process a backlog of asylum claims and to more quickly deport adults whose cases are rejected. New detention facilities are also being opened for families awaiting hearings, and ankle monitoring bracelets will be used to keep tabs on them, officials said. The moves mark a recognition by the administration that the unexpected influx

BAGHDAD — In a darkened living room in the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City, a gray-haired militia commander picked up his phone Friday to read a text message from one of his colleagues on the battlefield. “Captured six ISIS members in an ambush,” it said, referring to militants from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, an al-Qaeda splinter group whose advance over the past 10 days has nearly brought the Iraqi state to its knees. “At dawn I killed two, four I gave to the army.” The message was an example of what members of Iraq’s Shiite militias describe as

What philosopher Harvey Mansfield calls “taming the prince” — making executive power compatible with democracy’s abhorrence of arbitrary power — has been a perennial problem of modern politics. It is now more urgent in the United States than at any time since the Founders, having rebelled against George III’s unfettered exercise of “royal prerogative,” stipulated that presidents “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Serious as are the policy disagreements roiling Washington, none is as important as the structural distortion threatening constitutional equilibrium. Institutional derangement driven by unchecked presidential aggrandizement did not begin with Barack Obama, but his

A small force of about half a dozen Australian troops has been sent to Baghdad to help protect Australian embassy staff as Iraq faces continuing upheaval amid a vicious jihadist insurgency. Fairfax Media understands that the group of Australian Defence Force personnel will primarily liaise with the US military, which recently sent about 250 of its troops to guard its embassy in the city. If the Australian embassy experiences an immediate threat, its staff would likely be moved to the much larger US compound for safety. Krauthammer’s Take: IRS Playing
‘Adversarial Game’ with Lerner Emails
National Review Online, by Staff    Original Article

The arrogance by the IRS commissioner, as well as the Obama administration, following the agency’s revelation that it deleted e-mails central to the investigations of its alleged targeting of conservative groups is “what’s really rankling people,” Charles Krauthammer said on Friday’s Special Report. Putting aside the validity of whether the emails are totally erased, Krauthammer said the commissioner could at least acknowledge the frustrations caused by their absence, but instead defiantly claimed the agency had nothing to apologize for during a recent congressional hearing. Instead, the administration has played an “adversarial game”

For much of his presidency, President Obama has benefited from an overprotective news media that keeps looking the other way and won´t confront him. Can you say Benghazi or the IRS? Also, the Obama White House has used the "let´s show outrage, do nothing, and hope that people will forget" approach to difficult problems. Can you say "Fast & Furious" or the awful ObamaCare roll out. He can´t pull that off in Iraq. First, he does not control events, especially now that Baghdad is next. The president emphasized that he won’t send U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq. “American combat troops are not going to be fighting in Iraq again,” Mr.

Yes, it is true that there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq when George W. Bush took office. But it is equally true that there was essentially no al-Qaeda in Iraq remaining when Barack Obama took office. Which makes Bush responsible for the terrible costs incurred to defeat the 2003-09 jihadist war engendered by his invasion. We can debate forever whether those costs were worth it, but what is not debatable is Obama’s responsibility for the return of the Islamist insurgency that had been routed by the time he became president. By 2009, al-Qaeda in Iraq had not just been decimated
