(Video) In an emotional statement, the father of a victim of the mass murder in Isla Vista on Friday night addressed reporters Saturday and warned families that it can happen to them too. "Our family has a message for every parent out there: You don’t think it’ll happen to your child until it does.” According to the Los Angeles Times, Richard Martinez, the father of Chris Martinez, who was killed in the premeditated attack near the campus of UC Santa Barbara, spoke for 45 minutes, extolled the virtues of his son, and expressed his disdain for the National Rifle Association

This unmitigated jackass! This mental defect Elliot Roger that killed those people, killed HALF of them with a KNIFE! Sympathies to the family of the deceased but this "father" is a complete tool. He lives in the perfect place - Commiefornia! Now "Mr. Father-of-Chris- Martinez" shut your mouth and go mourn the death of your son!

What an idiot.

Grief can only excuse so much. That man dishonors and disrespects his son by his monumental and opportunistic ignorance.

What we have here is another "crisis" to advance more gun control. And as we know, we cant allow a good crisis to go to waste.

I´m sorry he lost his son and I can´t imagine what that´s like.

But there are over 100 million lawful gun-owners in this country. The NRA isn´t the problem. We gun owners are not the problem. Psychotic freaks like the kid who murdered these people are the problem. And the best way to deal with the possibility of meeting a crazy armed person meaning to do harm is to be armed yourself to stop him quickly.

No one wants to talk about mental illness. Mental illness is what killed these people not just the guns and knife. In this case there were warnings and the police checked them ruling that he was a wonderful human? Violent video games don´t come up in the discussion. The next thing we´ll hear from liberals is that it´s not fair that this kid was sexually frustrated - so girls will have to put out more - to make things more fair.

And whom or what will the parents of the stabbed victims blame?

This is about mental illness, not weapons. The mentally ill will find a way to exact "retribution" whether they have guns or not.

These are political agendas masquerading as grief. That is pathetic.

Mr. Martinez, that gun that killed your son didn´t do it by itself. Someone pulled the trigger. And that person had it legally under the Second Amendment of our Constitution. If you are displeased with the Constitution and the rights it has always given to our citizens, I am sure you can find another country. We´ll pack your bags.

Oh, my, as an NRA member, I feel so guilty and chagrined by Rodger´s words that it makes me want to send another twenty bucks to the NRA´s lobbying division. I think Rodgers knows where the real responsibility for these killings lies, and wants to shove his obvious culpability off onto somebody else.

Lets put the blame where it belongs. Elliot Rogers did this because he was upset on not being able to get laid. Maybe if colleges were not putting such an emphasis on handing out condoms and other sexual freedom crap maybe a kid like Elliot Rogers would have felt so left out and dejected this wouldn´t have happened.

Time to start calling B.S. on this and put the blame where it belongs.

The nut job perpetrator of these crimes could easily have murdered more innocent people then he did by ramming his BMW automobile into a crowd standing at an intersection in that town. If that would have happened there would have been no calls for automobiles to be banned. Clearly the mental health industry in this country along with law enforcement have been ineffective in dealing with the very small percentage of mentally ill people who are truly dangerous to the public. Until that changes these situations will keep occurring.

Why not blame the parents of the mass murderer? They had more to do with his mental condition than the NRA or any politicians.

As noted, he stabbed others to death prior to the gun attack.

He was planning to kill and would have accomplished the goal however he could.

So the killer was a member of the NRA??? No.

So the NRA ordered him to kill all those people??? No.

Well, the NRA must have him the gun that he used to kill the people he shot??? No.

The Constitution allowed him to have the gun, not the NRA. The NRA is a legal organization that supports legal gun ownership by law-abiding citizens. It had NOTHING to do with this insane little nutcase killing people by multiple different means.

Sorry, that was logical. This happened out in Cubafornia, where most people are lie-berals. Lie-berals have proven over and over and over again that they have no ability to apply logic, reason or facts to anything. This just feels like the mean old NRA was responsible for this, so that is what this obvious lie-beral is going to say.

Mourn your son. But blame the person who did the murder, not some organization that has nothing to do with it!!!

As the headline clearly states "father of slain victim" why is everyone slamming him for being the father of the perp?

This is Richard Martinez, father of slain Chris Martinez.

This is not Peter Rodger, father of shooter Elliot Rodger.

Martinez is seriously wrong, but he is lashing out in a moment of grief. The NRA did not kill his son. The craven politicians who won´t change the laws about mental illness may have had a hand in it. Elliot Rodger killed his son.

Sad for all involved. My heart goes out to this father. My intuition leads me to think this young man, who cravenly killed people in cold blood, was not connected to anyone. He had to be cast off from his family, unconnected, unloved, and alone. He may have been given money, BMW, and whatever he wanted materially. However, if he had the love of a father and mother, who deeply cared for him, and loved him, this could not have happened. He, mostly likely, was a product of a broken marriage, a father who was focused on his career and not his children. We have too many people focused on more than their family. How can it be at we live in a society where our children go unloved from their family?

The father of one of the victims and the father of the murderer calling for gun control and smearing the NRA is a result of the government/media strategy of rewarding this type of behavior. By this time, among a large part of the populace, calling for gun control and demonizing the NRA is seen as an appropriate grief reaction.

The response to these publicized and politicized cries of the heart to the mob is not talking sense - that hasn´t worked - or to attack the grief-stricken, but to point out the cynical manipulation and publicizing. The gun control non-profits and the gun control pols have an underbelly that should be exposed at every chance. The local SF area pol who was running guns is a case in point, as is the ATF´s cartel connections, and as are the high salaries of the executives in the "non-profit" gun control organizations.

The anti-NRA propaganda being generated from this guy´s statements is outrageous. But while the untenable logic of his statements can be blamed on the disorienting effect of grief, the press who are treating his opinion as that of an expert do not have the same excuse. Truth is a casualty of the Left´s crusade against the Second Amendment.

Lord, forgive them for they know not what they do. (They THINK they do; but clearly their thinking is not very sound.)

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. [Snip] It can take up to 10 minutes for every radio, TV, cable and satellite provider to

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

On July 16, comic character Archie Andrews, of Life With Archie, will die after being shot while protecting gay friend Kevin Keller. Keller is "Archie Comics´ first openly gay character." Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

President Obama is known for being competitive on the basketball court, but he´s also apparently a cutthroat pool player. Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., told reporters at the National Governors Association meeting on Sunday that the president surprised him by beat him in two consecutive games. To add insult to injury, the two were playing at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, a bar that Hickenlooper co-founded. "You know I´ll tell ya -- the man is a shark," Hickenlooper told reporters, Time reports. "I was up a few balls. I felt pretty good. I was actually wondering whether how hard should I --

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
