Some Reflections on
the UKIP Earthquake

Breitbart London [UK], by James Delingpole

1. UKIP are not just the "Conservative party in exile." Some of their most significant winnings have been in the industrial north, in towns like Rotherham. Like Margaret Thatcher they have galvanised the working classes--see also their success in Essex--and stolen traditionally Labour votes. 2.CCHQ´s carefully orchestrated anti-UKIP smear campaign, which embraced not just all the right-wing newspapers but even their new friends of convenience at the Guardian, was a disaster. It almost certainly brought UKIP many more votes than it lost them, by making them seem unfairly persecuted, while burnishing their rebel image. Expect lessons to be learned and the

There is a sleeping giant stirring around this world and it is awakening just in the nick of time too. People understand that they must defend their sovereignty and culture. To do less is to ignore and demean the sacrifice of those who suffered and died to build the country they love. They either pull themselves back from this cultural suicide or their way of life is over. The third world must understand that they do not deserve what they did not earn and what they do not respect.

Writing on the Anglo-American relationship in the Mail on Sunday today, columnist Peter Hitchens reports on a little known conversation that sheds some light on the ´special relationship´ between the United States and the United Kingdom. He writes: Britain and the USA have come far closer to open armed combat with each other in modern times than most people realise. In many ways, this was the biggest war in modern history that never happened. Tired of being told about a ‘special relationship’ that didn’t seem to me to exist--and which nobody in Washington has ever heard of--I decided to look into what

Iraq digs in for the Battle of Baghdad:

I watched yesterday as convoys of exhausted Iraqi soldiers returned from the battle to save Baghdad from a ruthless onslaught by fanatical jihadist fighters. The weary men told shocking stories of vicious, hand-to-hand fighting with ISIS Muslim militia--and of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. [Snip] At a checkpoint near his base at Camp Taji on the Baghdad-Samarra Highway, Lt Omar al-Saadi shouted down to me yesterday. ‘Things are very bad up there but we are ready for it. This is our country and our people. We can defeat the terrorists,’ he said. Several armoured Jeeps and Hummers donated by the American

Pakistani fighter jets have carried out air strikes against militant hideouts, killing dozens of fighters, officials in the north-west of the country say. The strikes were in the mountainous Dehgan area in the North Waziristan tribal district, a stronghold for Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants. Uzbek militants were targeted, amid reports that fighters from Uzbekistan took part in an attack on Karachi airport which began last Sunday. No exact casualty figures were given. "The strikes were carried out based on confirmed reports about the presence of Uzbek and other militants in the area," an official said. It is the second set of strikes in the

Iraq army begins fightback against ISIS

The Iraqi army have begun a fightback against jihadist rebels who have captured vast swathes of territory as thousands of Shia volunteers answered a call from their religious leader to protect holy shrines. After days of rapid advances by the radical and feared Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) movement, military commanders said they had halted the advance in which militant forces captured a series of northern towns and cities and moved towards Baghdad. The army’s assertion followed an apparent coded offer from Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s president, to the US for the two nations to work together to defeat ISIS, an

Why nicotine gum and patches

Nicotine patches have helped many smokers kick the habit, but new research suggests they may actually do more harm than good. A U.S. study found nicotine alone could cause cancer. The researchers, at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute, say nicotine is such a powerful carcinogen that nicotine-infused products designed to help people give up smoking may not be safe. Nicotine is one of 4,000 chemicals found in cigarette smoke. While many of these chemicals are recognised as carcinogens nicotine has, until now, only been considered addictive rather than carcinogenic. It is heavily used in smoking cessation products such as patches and gum.

Or was this just one of those highly, highly unusual computer crashes that affects only the email account of Lois Lerner and any executive branch official with whom she happened to

BOSTON — Once fearing he would be viewed as "a loser for life" if he failed to win the presidency, Mitt Romney is trying to re-emerge as a force in Republican politics. Romney has quietly sought kingmaker status in the GOP´s fight for the Senate majority this fall and its quest to retake the White House in 2016. The effort at revival is fueling whispers about a third presidential run. But those closest to Romney suggest he´s more interested in shaping party politics by lending his name and record-breaking fundraising machine to what he considers the next generation of electable conservatives. ISIS, the brutal insurgent/terrorist group formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, has seized much of western and northern Iraq and even threatens towns not far from Baghdad. From where did ISIS spring? One of George W. Bush´s most toxic legacies is the introduction of al Qaeda into Iraq, which is the ISIS mother ship. If this wasn´t so tragic it would be supremely ironic, because before the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, top Bush officials were insisting that there was an al Qaeda-Iraq axis of evil.
