Skyler James’ high school graduation party had a very surprising special guest – the man who found her abandoned as a newborn on a frigid winter day in a cemetery. “I was very speechless. I didn’t know what to say,” James, 17, told ABC News about her meeting with Charlie Heflin on Sunday. “I could not say ‘thank you’ enough. I just hugged him and cried.” James said her parents had shared her history with her. “I’ve always wondered if I’d ever meet Charlie or find out who he was. I always wondered if I’d ever know the first hand side of

Nice to read a story that isn´t grim or pathetic. What a super graduation present for Skyler and this reunion.

I wish her the best.

Kudos to the parents who adopted her, brought her up well, and told her the true story so she could appreciate her rescuer.

The pampered pukes and the Beautiful People still don’t get how angry everybody is about illegal immigration. Granted, Eric Cantor’s scalp isn’t even dry yet, but he is a pretty big trophy on the Tea Party wall. But the pajama boys of the mainstream media are still whistling past the graveyard, pretending the country doesn’t have a problem. Consider the death of a 3-year-old boy in Saugus Monday night in a traffic accident involving an illegal alien from Mexico who’d been deported and then came back. The Herald story had it all, including the fact that it was the SUV carrying the boy

Get the garlic. A full moon is rising on Friday the 13th -- the very same day a solar flare could send a shockwave to Earth’s surface. It’s a triple whammy for superstitious folks, according to Stuart Vyse, a psychology professor at Connecticut College. “People tend to try to read something into coincidences like these,” said Vyse, author of “Believing in Magic: The Psychology of Superstition.” “There will be a small group of people who are undoubtedly, predictably nervous about tomorrow.” The day also marks the first full moon on Friday the 13th since October 2000. The next one won’t

Barbara Walters Gets All Dolled Up,

After turning down Clint Eastwood for dinner in 1982, Barbara Walters decided to put on the “right outfit,” don fake eyelashes, and hit on Clint Eastwood the other day. “I thought maybe it’s not too late,” Walters told Jimmy Fallon on the set of The Tonight Show. Walters finagled her way into sitting next to Eastwood at the premiere of his latest movie “Jersey Boys” on Monday. Her planned seduction didn’t go so well. “He was…polite,” she explained. Eastwood was not interested in Walter’s attempts to relight the sparks from their 1982 interview, when she turned him down because she

WASHINGTON — Rep. Steve Cohen, Democrat of Tennessee — or someone high up on his staff — was trying to track down Hillary Clinton Thursday and apparently hoped someone, anyone, would share her phone number with his office. Cohen’s Director Of Operations, Craig Dulniak, a senior member of Cohen’s staff, blasted out an email to every scheduler on the Hill Thursday morning with a simple subject line. “Phone number for Hillary Clinton,” it read. The body was just as direct. “Does anyone have a good phone number for Hillary Clinton?” The email was forwarded outside Hill circles, too, but maybe

Detroit Could Speed Its Recovery

A recent report by the Detroit Blight Removal Task Force calculated there were likely 72,000 blighted structures and over 6,000 vacant lots within the city of Detroit. Their latest estimate of the cost of addressing this problem is $850 million for the residential structures and between $500 million and $1 billion for the industrial sites. That is a lot of money for Detroit, and if they can come up with the money it would take a long time to complete the task. A better solution would be a city homestead act. President Obama’s decision to exchange five terrorists for a soldier who left his base in Afghanistan endangers national security by “pretending” the Taliban isn’t targeting America, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said in an interview with The Daily Signal. Rubio, speaking to a reporter between meetings on Capitol Hill, warned: “The message has been sent that if you get your hands on an American in uniform, or an American, you’re going to be able to trade them for as many as five Taliban commanders.” His Taliban captors released Army Sgt. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wrote the book on how to outmaneuver conservative opposition in primaries, by tacking to the right and attacking early and often. But Sen. Lindsey Graham, another perennial Republican target, proved there´s another way to get renominated—defeating his critics through kindness. Against six lesser-known opponents, Graham comfortably won Tuesday´s South Carolina primary, avoiding a runoff with 59 percent of the vote. It´s the second straight primary where Graham won overwhelmingly despite vocal conservative opposition over his advocacy for comprehensive immigration reform. In both cases, the conservative bark was louder than its bite. But Graham´s victory was also aided

It´s official. Sen. Ted Cruz is now a citizen of the United States -- and the United States only. If you remember, the Texas Republican was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father. As such, he was a dual citizen -- an American because of his mother, and Canadian because the country, like America, grants automatic citizenship to anyone born there. No harm in that, except Cruz is considered a potential candidate for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination. And when the news of his dual citizenship surfaced last year, thanks to a Dallas Morning News piece,

BOSTON — Once fearing he would be viewed as "a loser for life" if he failed to win the presidency, Mitt Romney is trying to re-emerge as a force in Republican politics. Romney has quietly sought kingmaker status in the GOP´s fight for the Senate majority this fall and its quest to retake the White House in 2016. The effort at revival is fueling whispers about a third presidential run. But those closest to Romney suggest he´s more interested in shaping party politics by lending his name and record-breaking fundraising machine to what he considers the next generation of electable conservatives. After praising the school’s focus on career-centered education and encouraging graduates to give back to their communities, Mr. Obama addressed the rising cost of higher education, blasting Senate Republicans for stalling a Democrat-backed bill that would allow borrowers

Chelsea Clinton earned an annual salary of $600,000 at NBC News before switching to a month-to-month contract earlier this year, sources with knowledge of the agreement told POLITICO. Clinton, who joined NBC News as a “special correspondent” in November 2011, was up for renewal or non-renewal this year. Instead, the sources said, the network decided to keep her on the payroll on a month-to-month basis so that the two parties could sever ties if Clinton’s mother, Hillary, runs for president. Kamyl Bazbaz, a spokesperson for the 34-year-old Clinton, referred POLITICO to NBC News, which declined to discuss Clinton’s contract. “We don’t comment
