fired for transgender remarks

Rochester, N.Y. Two upstate New York radio hosts have been fired over their on-air comments about Rochester´s decision to cover gender reassignment surgery for city employees. [snip] Ray referred to someone seeking gender reassignment surgery as "a nut job." Beck equated the issue to having the city pay for breast enhancement or liposuction for a mentally ill woman.

Comments:
There is no evidence that expensive gender reassignment surgery improves patients´ lives.

Aren´t radio show hosts supposed to be edgy? Some guy wants to cut his penis off, and that is not nuts? How is that NOT anything but mentally disturbed?

What if someone is a "cutter", just likes to mutilate themselves because they are psychotic. No remarks about that allowed?

Can you have a distaste for pedophiles, or do you need to keep that to yourself?

Who are the punks behind the signature campaign?

Even only 20 years ago, transgenderism was viewed as a psychological illness.
Just what new scientific evidence has surfaced to change this to the "new normal"?
It has been wrong and sick for thousands of years, but suddenly we are so much smarter and more advanced in the last 20?
Rubbish!
Just defining deviancy down.

The whole country seems to have lost it´s mind.
And it seems to be getting worse by the week.

Thanks a lot to the democrats for mainstreaming any and every sort of mental illness or bizarre behavior.

Our culture is being destroyed by those with corroded minds.
We are being forced to accept abnormalities and must pretend that they are normal.
Rationalizing the irrational.
Soon, very soon we must stand up and say NO MORE for the sake of our children and America´s soul.

OK fine, but if they are going to pay for other people´s surgeries, then hair restoration for the bald, breast augmentation for the avant garde.

Recently -at the national prayer breakfast- a scholar talked about the new correctness in our culture. Soon normal people with normal opinions will find themselves denied promotions, fired, losing friends and more.
This article makes the point well.

FTA: "The discussion on their "Breakfast Buzz" show Wednesday had generated 4,000 signatures by Thursday on a removal petition."

Not believable. These two said something un-PC on their show on Wednesday and by Thursday (within 24-36 hours)a petition had been generated, 4000 signatures were gathered demanding their removal, the petition was presented to station management and station management fired them. Not likely.

AP is terrible at reporting. How were the signatures gathered? In person? On the internet? Are the "signatures" verifiable? Seriously, are there really 4000 Rochester residents so incensed by an inane comment on a morning radio show that they immediately dropped everything to sign a petition demanding the removal of the hosts? Sorry, I don´t buy it.

Senior Obama administration officials’ closed-door briefing to senators Tuesday night revealed that the White House did not anticipate and was not prepared for the rise of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), which has wreaked havoc in Iraq and seized many key cities in recent weeks. Top State Department and Defense Department officials joined senators Tuesday evening for a briefing on the quickly developing chaos in Iraq and future U.S. plans for a response. Sources familiar with the brief said that the administration officials repeated talking points issued over the past several days in both open and

With Iraq in danger of falling apart, new troubles on the Mexican border and other problems mounting up in Washington, President Obama on Thursday will try to the shift the narrative by reconnecting with average Americans. The president will travel to Minneapolis on Thursday and spend a day “in the shoes” of a mystery woman identified only as Rebekah. The woman, whose last name has yet to be revealed, recently wrote a letter to Mr. Obama, inspiring the president to visit her and learn more about her daily struggles. The White House is painting Thursday’s event as the first in

Hillary Clinton has a “secret deal” with her top aide Huma Abedin to keep her troublesome husband Anthony Weiner out of the spotlight, sources tell Page Six, as the former secretary of state mulls a run for president. Clinton aides have insisted Weiner “stay out of public life for two years,” and that he “avoid causing any further embarrassment to Huma or Clinton,” according to our sources. The former sexting pol has been noticeably absent at recent public events attended by Abedin, including the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner in Manhattan earlier this month. Thad Cochran’s political resurrection began with a campaign shakeup and ended with a Hail Mary television ad. Just three weeks ago, in the dead of night on June 3, the Mississippi senator’s staff sat shaken and dejected, crestfallen at the results of a primary that deprived the six-term incumbent of an electoral majority. With Cochran forced into a runoff fight against an aggressive and energetic challenger, a dark mood shadowed his backers in Washington and Mississippi.Yet almost immediately, the Cochran coalition began bouncing back. Even on that gloomy night of June 3, Cochran adviser Stuart Stevens was insisting to staffers: “We’re

President Obama is now reaching terminal velocity, like a skydiver plunging toward earth. Except he doesn’t have a parachute. There’s a mighty splat coming soon. With his approval rating at 40 percent, down 6 points from early June, and just 29 percent of Americans convinced the country is on the “right track,” the president is doubling down on his strategy of blaming Republicans for his failures. And he’s shifting into hyperpartisan drive, traveling the country to campaign for Democrats, many of whom wish he’d just stay away. Worse, the news just keeps getting well, worse: The Veterans Affairs scandal is blazing, with

Lois Lerner, the controversial director of the tax-exempt organizations division at the Internal Revenue Service, has a long sordid history of targeting conservatives. Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?) In 1996, while at the FEC, Lois Lerner harassed Republican Senate candidate Al Salvi and made him this outrageous offer, “Promise me you will never run for office again, and

Ordinarily, President Obama’s days are planned out to the smallest detail. But for his two-day excursion to Minnesota this week, the president boasted that he’s got little in the way of a formal agenda, has few firm plans, and warned Secret Service that he’s feeling “super loose” and could end up doing any number of things. “I don’t know. I’m just going to make it up as I go along,” Mr. Obama said during a town-hall meeting at Minneapolis’ Minnehaha Park, one of the few planned activities during his two-day stay in the Twin Cities. “I’m like a caged bear,

Republicans are in the strongest position to win back the Senate since losing it eight years ago. Over several months, the party has expanded its range of targeted seats, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has helped defeat insurgents it didn’t want representing the GOP in the midterm elections. This sober realization came to Democrats on Wednesday, as Tuesday night’s primary results showed they cannot count on Tea Party candidates upsetting more-electable incumbents. And Democrats are increasingly realizing that President Obama’s approval rating will probably remain mired at 45 percent or lower until

National conservative groups are angry after incumbent Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran pulled off a victory in the state’s GOP run-off — likely because of his campaign’s outreach to Democratic voters. “It’s disgraceful that self-described GOP leaders like Mitch McConnell, John McCain, the Chamber of Commerce and the NRSC would champion a campaign platform of pork barrel spending and insider deal-making, while recruiting Democrats to show up at the polls,” Matt Kibbe of FreedomWorks said after the results came in. Tuesday’s closely-watched run-off came after conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel edged Cochran in votes in the initial election earlier this month.

President Obama, tired of waiting for Congress to act on immigration reform, is currently exploring ways to address issues with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson. During an interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained that the Obama administration was getting impatient with Congress. “[W]e’re not just going to sit around and wait interminably for Congress,” he explained. “We’ve been waiting a year already. The president has tasked his Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson with reviewing what options are available to the president, what is at his disposal using his executive authority to

It was the elephant on the back of the elephant in the middle of the room. In a recent interview with Rusty Humphries, Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio made news by saying that the Obama administration was “incompetent” and that its current dumping of illegals in Arizona is intentional. Yet perhaps even more shocking was a 45-second segment of the interview that has received scant attention: A claim by Arpaio that he’s close to discovering who forged Barack Obama’s birth certificate. His comments were made between 9:59 and 10:44 in the interview and began as an explanation of why he

Given the bitter nature of the runoff in Mississippi, this probably surprises no one, but it’s also unlikely to produce any further surprises. After a narrow loss to incumbent Senator Thad Cochran, Chris McDaniel refused to concede last night. Instead, he blasted Cochran’s GOTV strategy and promised a challenge to the results: State Sen. Chris McDaniel will challenge the results of the Tuesday runoff election where 41-year incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran won by about 6,400 votes, he announced to a room of supporters here at his victory party at the Hattiesburg Convention Center late Tuesday evening. “I want to be
