CNN Reporter: MH370 Coverage
Bought Us Time for VA Story

According to POLITICO’s Hadas Gold, CNN’s roundly-mocked obsessive coverage of missing Malaysian flight MH370 bought a CNN investigative reporting team more time to nail down a story on secret waitlists at a Phoenix Veterans Affairs hospital, the story that metastasized into the current VA scandal. Drew Griffin, who led the investigation that culminated in last month’s report “A Fatal Wait,” said the network’s focus on the plane allowed his team to finalize the story, at which point they waited for a lull in the search. “Quite frankly, the plane coverage bought us some of that time, so that in April

During his press conference on Thursday morning, Speaker of the House John Boehner gave a rather pointed criticism of President Obama‘s handling of the unfolding Sunni rebellion in Iraq. As Boehner prepared to exit the podium, a reporter asked him about the situation involving militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant having seized Iraq’s second-largest city and currently marching towards the capital city of Baghdad. Iraqi officials have also reportedly asked the U.S. to launch airstrikes. Boehner responded to the question by suggesting the U.S. should provide equipment and technical assistance, but refused to comment on whether

Will he or won’t he? House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling continues to resist the entreaties of the insurgent wing of his caucus to launch a bid for House majority leader in the wake of Rep. Eric Cantor’s loss in a Virginia GOP primary. The Texan declined to comment on his plans Wednesday evening as he exited a closed-door meeting of the Lone Star State House Republicans. The delegation holds the biggest bloc of GOP votes in the June 19 leadership election that has been called to select a successor to Cantor, who will step down from the No. 2

Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA) took Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to task Wednesday over the release of the “Taliban Five” in the Bergdahl trade. At the heart of the fiery exchange was a national intelligence assessment that four of the five terrorists would return to the battlefield to fight against American forces. Forbes asked Hagel if the military would risk American lives to recapture any of the five, if necessary. As the Defense Secretary tried to dodge the question, Forbes persisted. A beleaguered Hagel finally conceded: “Yes.” With the Secretary on the ropes, Forbes went for the knockout, asking Hagel if

They’re barely old enough to vote, but graduating seniors at a Massachusetts high school were encouraged Wednesday by President Obama to boot Republicans from office and help the administration enact more of its agenda. Speaking at the commencement service at Worcester Technical High School in Worcester, Mass., the president slowly transitioned from delivering a pep talk to leading a political pep rally. After praising the school’s focus on career-centered education and encouraging graduates to give back to their communities, Mr. Obama addressed the rising cost of higher education, blasting Senate Republicans for stalling a Democrat-backed bill that would allow borrowers

The latest scandals from the White House have prompted speculation trying to determine why President Obama screws up so much. There is a simple answer. Obamacare, a failed trillion dollar stimulus, sky-high food stamp usage, disability rolls soaring, our national debt mortgaging America’s future, our adversaries and enemies on the march. Obama has compiled quite a list of “accomplishment” as he fulfills one promise -- to fundamentally transform America. Tragically, it has been a very damaging transformation. Some ascribe these failures to Obama’s inability to manage the presidency, to lead; others to a work ethic problem; others to a lack

According to Open Secrets, Cantor raised $5.4 million while Brat raised $206,663. A bipartisan delegation of House lawmakers are circulating a measure to reprimand the Obama administration for violating a U.S. law mandating that the administration provide Congress with advance notice before releasing dangerous terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. The resolution comes in response to White House efforts to keep Congress in the dark about its controversial decision to release five top Taliban prisoners in exchange for captured Army Sgt. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel admitted in testimony to lawmakers Wednesday that the Obama administration intentionally and knowingly ignored the law, which mandates that Congress be given 30

The problem with Hillary Clinton’s recent statement of her financial troubles- in which she stated that she and her husband were “dead broke” when they left the White House- is not that her being well off would make it difficult to run as a Democrat, says Charles Krauthammer, but rather that it demonstrates her “intrinsic insincerity.” “She is continually crafting what she says, crafting what her position is going to be, crafting conduct to meet a certain perception,” he said on Thursday’s Special Report. “When you do that day in or day out…you trip up because you can’t remember the

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 used cell phones, seized from State Department personnel during the attacks, and U.S. spy agencies overheard them contacting more senior terrorist leaders to report on the success of the operation, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News. The disclosure is important because it adds to the body of evidence establishing that senior U.S. officials in the Obama administration knew early on that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and not a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video that had gone awry, as the administration claimed for

It is just about impossible to keep up with all of the Obama administration scandals, but the corruption of the Internal Revenue Service ranks near the top. Unfortunately, it has gone hand in hand with Barack Obama and Eric Holder’s corruption of the Department of Justice. The perversion of law enforcement agencies for political ends is starkly revealed by the fact that in 2010, as part of its effort to stem the Tea Party movement, the IRS gave the FBI disks containing more than 1.1 million pages of documents on Section 501 non-profits, so that the FBI could selectively prosecute

Holder did not announce any legal action against the Boy Scouts. A Supreme Court decision 14 years ago said the Scouts, as a private entity, had a right to discriminate against
