Perry and Dewhurst too liberal?
Welcome to the new right-wing Texas

Texas is about to become even more conservative. With as many as eight new state senators and the possibility of a religious conservative radio host as lieutenant governor, that chamber will lean right no matter how the runoff Tuesday turns out. Ron Paul libertarians also look like potential winners in some House runoffs, meaning more guns and less government interest in problem-solving about water, transportation or education. That should please listeners to a certain radio talk station in Houston, where a morning host in 2004 had a harsh greeting for the Republican State Convention. “The problem with Texas is that Rick Perry is too

And Wendy of the Pink Shoes is heading into this election cauldron.

Perry and Dewhurst are conservative. I´ve heard people who plan to vote against Dewhurst say that they think that one person has held the gov and lt. gov positions long enough. Bud Kennedy is not going to scare people in Texas by calling someone "religious." We are not a bunch of anti-Christian bigots down here, even though there may be some scattered in newsrooms around the state.

I make note that all of Bud´s contacts are from universities. He obviously doesn´t know many conservatives.

Historically Texans have always been partial to small unobtrusive government. Not many want the guvmint meddling in their bidness. Why do you think our constitution only allows for a part time legislature that only meets 6 months every two years.

There´s this phrase I´ve heard, perhaps others have heard it. It goes something like this - Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. Maybe we´re just fed up with government exceeding it´s bounds. Texans seem to be. It´s not a right wing thing. It´s called America.

The bigger news should be that a LaRouche supporter, a black female who believes Obama should be impeached, is in the run-off for the Texas US Senate nomination. The party favorite didn´t even make the run-off.

Battleground Texas thinks they can turn Texas purple, if not Democrat in the future. Heck, if their own sycophant voters can´t keep a LaRouchie out of the run-off how are they gonna win a statewide race?

Oh, I´d like to see Dewhurst win. I´m worried that Dan Patrick puts this job at risk against uber-liberal Leticia VanDePutte, a hispanic state senator from San Antonio. And in Texas, it´s almost better to be Lt. Gov. than Governor.

The article was worth the read simply for this quote: “Why [do Tea Party candidates do so well] here?” veteran Texas analyst and political science professor Richard Murray wrote from the University of Houston. Mainly, he wrote, because our conservatives vote." There´s a message there, folks.

Other than that, I must agree with #1: "Horribly written by left wing nut." This guy outta stick with cooking columns.

#5, unfortunately the amount and duration of sessions has little to do with how "small government" a state may be. Oregon had legislative sessions every two years (and some emergency sessions) up until 2012. At that time, a voter referendum put annual sessions on the ballot, and passed.

While doing sessions every odd year, and despite most elected officials holding another job, they still did ample damage. Now the odd year session is 160 days, while the even year session is 35 days. Won´t make a bit of difference to their big government ´tude.

Don´t worry, Demon-RATS. As soon as the RINOs in Congress help the Demon-RATS to make 30,000,000 illegal aliens into instant Demon-RAT voting citizens, the Demon-RATS will own all 50 states.

Until then, real Americans -- and most definitely real Texans -- will still run the show -- at least in Texas!!!!!!

At any other time, the growing crisis on the Mexican border, with tens of thousands of unaccompanied young people crossing illegally into the United States, might dominate the news. Yet the situation has received less attention than it might amid the furor over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor´s primary defeat, the collapse of Iraq, the continuing Bergdahl matter, and Hillary Clinton´s book tour. They´re all genuinely important news stories, and they´ve crowded out disaster at the border. Is President Obama done with Washington? The 44th president has never been the capital’s biggest fan, but his frustration with life in D.C. is bubbling to the surface in ways both casual and substantive. The president twice went for unscheduled walkabouts last week, taking a trip to a Starbucks near the White House with his chief of staff Denis McDonough on Monday and, the next day, turning up at a burger joint in Alexandria, Va. “The bear is loose!” is the president’s favorite phrase at such moments, and he deployed it again last week. On Sept. 29, 1973, President Nixon’s secretary, Rose Mary Woods, made “a terrible mistake.” She was reviewing a tape recording from the previous year when she took a break to take a phone call. She meant to hit the pause button, she said, but hit the record button by accident — and poof, an 18½-minute gap. No one will ever know what was in that infamous gap. But the unbelievable story helped propel the impeachment against Nixon, and he would fly off into ignominy with that sad double peace salute and a jowly head shake. The case against Nixon was airtight.

In 1975, the same year she married Bill, Hillary Clinton agreed to serve as the court-appointed attorney for Thomas Alfred Taylor, a 41-year-old accused of raping the child after luring her into a car. One of George W. Bush´s most toxic legacies is the introduction of al Qaeda into Iraq, which is the ISIS mother ship.
