The Age of Academic Ruin
American Thinker, by Glenn Fairman

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 5/21/2014 9:54:39 AM

Now that we can see through a glass more clearly, which of us can deny that the American Academy surrendered without a shot to its barbarous and intellectually unwashed, following a rough descent into slavish cultural Deconstruction? (snip) As a witness to that bloodless capitulation, I found that this new progeniture of professorial triumphalists were markedly inferior in both erudition and gravitas to their predecessors and that the ranks of these Young Turks were generously constituted with perpetually dissatisfied utopians. In fact, these tin-plated revolutionaries were little more than partisan shills with an ax to grind and a seething animus

As we prosper "Academic Ruin" becomes more likely since it is easier. Life becomes the Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Sadly, this column is right on. And, now the sciences are being undermined at many schools by climate change money that pays for bad science, as long as it supports the catastrophists.

I just saw a segment on Fox where a teacher at one school offers, as an incentive to put away electronic devices (smartphones, etc.), an option to skip the last test of the course. In other words, if you put away your electronic device, you don´t have to take the last test. I´m stunned teachers don´t have the authority to tell kids to simply holster the devices for class! Are kids texting during class these days? Watching videos? We´re doomed...

Is it possible Obama is

It is a confounding spectacle. The President of the United States faces a grave crisis in Iraq that threatens to undo the hard-won victory of his predecessor and flies off for a weekend of golf and fundraising in Palm Springs, blandly assuring the American people that his staff would prepare options for him to review in a couple of days. (snip) Perhaps Obama’s only political hope is to behave so flagrantly in defiance of his constitutional duties that his opponents are left with no other option than to pass articles of impeachment. That worked out very well indeed for Bill

Twenty years ago this week, former football great O.J. Simpson savagely attacked and killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman. The double murder and subsequent trial generated a small library of videos and books (snip) After the Zimmerman verdict, however, writers and producers have shied from exploring the subject in depth because the facts all lead in the opposite direction, the direction that the media rejected from the beginning, that of Zimmerman’s innocence. It is one thing to corrupt a two-minute news byte or a 500-word article. That’s all in a day’s work. It is another thing

That couldn’t possibly be Chris Matthews saying nice things about conservatives and the Tea Party on MSNBC, could it? On Ronan Farrow’s little-watched MSNBC program Wednesday, someone looking and sounding exactly like Chris Matthews defended conservatives and the Tea Party. (snip)If we put aside the possibilities that a very convincing impersonator has kidnapped the real Chris Matthews and is acting in his place, or that conservative pod people have taken over his body, I see on a couple of alternative explanations for this sudden change in behavior:

A senior prosecutor in Travis Country (Austin) Texas has been fired for dismissing a juror in a trial and is likely to sue, which could lead to a fascinating court battle over the nature of the NAACP. Findlaw reports: A top Travis County prosecutor was fired Wednesday following comments he made in court about his dismissal of a prospective juror, including comparing her NAACP membership with that of a white supremacist group. District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg told the Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV that Assistant District Attorney Steve Brand had made racially insensitive statements that she found offensive and had caused a judge

It’s subpoena time. And Hillary Clinton’s book tour may not be a warm-up for a presidential campaign so much as a financial and ego exercise. There will be hell to pay on the campaign trail, unless the GOP nominates a dummy. President Obama is poised to reap a whirlwind of consequences for his conduct of the war on terror. Iraq is falling into the hands of the enemy President Bush had defeated on the battlefield. The fact that the Obama administration lied to the American people about the Benghazi attack in order to smooth his re-election makes his failures in conducting

There will be plenty of talk -- some good and some awful -- about Dave Brat’s historic defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in yesterday’s GOP primary in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, and what the implications are. Virginia has been an epicenter of the establishment GOP’s war on the Tea Party, and vice versa I might add, with political shenanigans and bullying known as “slating” designed to keep conservatives out of political party positions. Eric Cantor and his team were in it up to their necks. The best explanation of Brat’s win, however, may have been given on January

The interviews promoting Hillary Clinton’s new book are serving as a test drive for a presidential run, and she has just encountered a serious bump in the road. Despite obvious effort put into crafting careful rationalizations of her miserable record as secretary of state, she managed to blurt out a key fact in an interview with NBC’s Cynthia McFadden. Mrs. Clinton admitted that she kept detailed notes of the Benghazi crisis, a paper trail that could be subject to subpoena. Here is the transcript (via Fox News, which understands the import of the admission): MCFADDEN: You write in great detail in

Aside from attacks on the Second Amendment, there is a certain theme that’s now repeated after every massacre committed by an unhinged individual: that most all mass killers are white. After the recent Elliot Rodger murders, for instance, Michael Moore said that he no longer had “anything to say” before immediately saying, “Nearly all of our mass shootings are by angry or disturbed white males.” (snip) Before rushing to play pin the tale on the h*nkey, did anyone bother to check the history of mass killings? Or was this just one of those highly, highly unusual computer crashes that affects only the email account of Lois Lerner and any executive branch official with whom she happened to

BOSTON — Once fearing he would be viewed as "a loser for life" if he failed to win the presidency, Mitt Romney is trying to re-emerge as a force in Republican politics. Romney has quietly sought kingmaker status in the GOP´s fight for the Senate majority this fall and its quest to retake the White House in 2016. The effort at revival is fueling whispers about a third presidential run. But those closest to Romney suggest he´s more interested in shaping party politics by lending his name and record-breaking fundraising machine to what he considers the next generation of electable conservatives.
