Dr. Monica Wehby emerged victorious in the Oregon GOP Senate primary Tuesday to take on Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley in November in a race Republicans hope could help them take back the Senate. Wehby beat Oregon state Rep. Jason Congers and three other candidates with 51 percent of the vote. Congers placed a distant second with 36 percent. (Snip) "I do have a message for those national Democrats who are willing to shred my family for their own political gain: People are tired of your dirty tricks," Wehby said. I really, really wish Dr. Wehby weren´t dragging the ex-husband and boyfriend baggage. The implication is that she is truly unstable. Once more a candidate who should have been a threat to the Dem stronghold turns out to be less than advertised.

#2: yes, let´s throw her under the bus immediately! Even though that "baggage" is supporting and raising money for her.

Perhaps the GOP Establishment can get out in front of this for a change and excoriate the Democrat´s tactics. Nah. They love to leave their candidates swinging.

The difference between Democrats and the GOP: Democrats never admit that there is anything wrong with their candidates, even the murderers, and soon people believe them. The GOP freaks if their candidate is a human being, with faults, and throws in the towel immediately. Unbelievable!

So Crossroads, established to raise money and vet candidates so that the annoying prolife and small government rubes, ya know, those Palin and Cruz types, wouldn´t embarrass the free shrimp republicans, got the candidate they wanted. Didn´t they check her background? Or didn´t it matter as long as she shuts up and does what she´s told? Expect more of that status quo that you are so fond of, that is, if you don´t waste this opportunity to take back the Senate.

First of all the ex´s excesses are a non-sequitur. An MD for 30 years is not unstable. What about "no charges were filed" is difficult to understand? If Oregon had voter ID she´d be a shoo-in but unfortunately Multnomah County will have car trunks full of votes for Merkley. I´m pulling for her. Please people, save your animus for the party that is destroying our country!

Rocky relationships? Apparently. Unstable? Hardly. Ex-hubby admits to being violent with her over their relationship,, which she says was documented with her doctor, but not reported to polic. Ex also regrets filing the police report.

Interesting the judgement of some. The man´s history of violence with her isn´t questioned, but her slapping him with a pad of paper makes her "unstable"? IMHO, if that´s all he got in response to his treatment of her, he should count himself lucky.

Ex-boyfriend? Seems he just started ignoring communications with her, so she went to his house five times in 10 days (uh... every other day when you don´t answer phone calls is "stalking"?), used *her key* to get in to the house (they had keys to each other´s residences) to try and talk to him.

What Ms. Wehby appears guilty of is poor judgement in picking male companions. Pulled the ballot once for her, and will do it again. Best this is out now instead of a tepid October surprise that can be hyped up into something more than it was.

If Wehby were a male, nobody would be calling allegations of stalking no big deal. Her ex-boyfriend has a big timber company and there could be reasons he "supports" her candidacy. #10 echoes my views. Since she is pro-choice, liberals don´t mind her either.

What´s pro-choice? Who´s pro-choice? Wehby´s opponent, Conger, believes abortions are acceptable in the case of incest, rape, and to save the life of the mother. No one would dispute the third item on the list (I hope), but aborting babies because they´re the product of rape or incest should be as unacceptable as aborting them for convenience, if you´re going to be consistent. #10 Money talks? If there had been an inkling of wrongdoing, charges would have been filed. Period. There are some things money can´t buy, and as I understand it, the boyfriend has more money and why couldn´t he purchase charges if that was how it works? Egads, some people want to believe the worst and no matter what, will. Can´t help you there.

Criticism mounting of Obama

Members of Congress called on President Obama Sunday to link up with Arab allies and quell a quick-moving crisis in Iraq, where Islamic militants swept toward Baghdad and left a bloody trail in their wake. Republican lawmakers said the administration has sat on the sidelines for too long as sectarian violence threatens to undo what U.S. troops accomplished during the war in Iraq. The bloodshed spurred by militants from an al Qaeda splinter group could topple the country’s fragile government while civil war rages in neighboring Syria, they said, offering a magnet for extremists from Iran and even western nations.

This week, the stunningly fast advance in northern Iraq of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a Sunni militant group, has taken the world by surprise. As it takes over cities, including Iraq´s second-biggest, Mosul, in its quest to establish an Islamic caliphate, the group is threatening to draw regional powers into an armed confrontation. In Iraq, an al Qaeda splinter group is threatening Baghdad after seizing control of two cities. In Pakistan, the Taliban attacked a major airport twice in one week. And in Nigeria, the Islamist militant group Boko Haram was blamed for another mass kidnapping. A cluster of militant attacks over the past week is a reminder of how the once-singular threat of al Qaeda has changed since the killing of Osama bin Laden, morphing or splintering into smaller, largely autonomous Islamist factions that in some cases are now overshadowing the parent group. Each movement is different, fueled by local political and

WASHINGTON - The Obama administration on Monday announced it is designating a third U.S. military base for emergency housing of children immigrating illegally into the United States without parents or relatives, as the cost of caring for these minors escalated. Senior administration officials, who asked not to be identified, told reporters that an Army base at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, will initially hold 600 "unaccompanied minors" and eventually will be able to accommodate up to 1,200. In recent weeks, the Obama administration has opened similar emergency shelters at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and Naval Base Ventura County

WASHINGTON — When the heads of the two major intelligence committees criticized the Obama administration on Sunday for swapping Sgt. The question is why the five were released without any commitments to a larger agreement, under which the Taliban would renounce international terrorism, and begin a process of reconciliation with the government of Afghanistan.
