Going nuclear again? Reid
threatens to change
Senate filibuster rules

Washington Times, by David Sherfinski and Stephen Dinan

Original Article

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid raised the possibility Tuesday of another rules change to curtail filibusters, saying he is increasingly frustrated that Republicans are sticking to the letter of the rules and delaying action on dozens of President Obama’s nominations. In the past, many of those nominees would have been approved in handshake deals, but after Mr. Reid first changed the filibuster last year, using the “nuclear option” to sideline Republicans, the chamber has been in a sort of legislative cold war. Mr. Reid is able to eventually win any nominations his party wants, but Senate Republicans make him use

And not a word in the Times about Reid and the media´s massive objections to the Nuclear Option for judicial appointees when Republicans last held the senate. The Dems whined about it potentially being used against them so they couldn´t hold up Bush appointees (it wasn´t) and then took the fillibuster from the GOP when they got back the senate. What hypocrites. No historical reporting ever in these rags, unless it favors the Democrats.

Yes, Harry, by all means, change the rules to favor the majority. Then, when the Republicans re-take the Senate, they can really sock it to you and your slimy little Democrat colleagues.

#3 and #4, In his speech at CPAC this winter, Mitch McConnell promised that when he is Majority Leader he will change the filibuster rules back to what they were before Reid started the nuclear options. That was the gist of Mitch´s stemwinder when he stood there with a rifle over his head.

In a Mitch McConnell Senate, the Democrats will have their power restored. Like the Conservatives say, Establishment Republicans are kind to Democrats...but not to the conservatives who share their party.

If he changes the law, then it stays changed when the Republicans retake control of the Senate.

However, it won´t really matter. The Demon-RATS have one agenda -- putting as many lie-beral activist judges out there as possible.

They know the odds are that the Hilldebeast will be elected president in 2016. Once in, the odds are that she will get to replace at least one conservative justice on the Supreme Court with a lie-beral. That will give them a 5-4 majority. The Constitution is officially dead at that moment. From then on, judicial activist judges will make the laws of this country, and the Supreme Court will declare all of these actions "constitutional".

Massive gun control. Legalized homosexual "marriage" in all states. 30,000,000 illegal aliens instantly becoming Demon-RAT voting citizens. Outlawed conservative speech. All without any legislative action or the will of the people.

So Reid will do anything necessary to get these lie-beral Demon-RAT judges in place for the coming judicial activist takeover of our country.

Every time he opens his mouth, every time he blocks the Senate its heartwarming to know that he doesn´t give one rodents behind for this country and the people in it.

He is sold out to and worships the liberal left and their caustic agenda.

BEIJING — A Beijing property developer said Saturday it has terminated cooperation with the new "Transformers" movie, wants Paramount Pictures to make edits to it and is asking China to suspend screenings of the blockbuster film. The company owns the Pangu Plaza, a dragon-shaped hotel, office and mall complex that stretches the length of half a dozen football fields and is featured in "Transformers: Age of Extinction," the latest installment of the hit franchise. The Beijing Pangu Investment Co. Ltd. said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press that Paramount and two Chinese associate partners failed to fulfill their obligations

For years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington has watched as authorities in New York and Virginia handled many of nation’s biggest terrorism cases — even ones in which the District was the target of planned attacks. Now, with the capture of Ahmed Abu Khattala, a suspected ringleader in the assault on U.S. outposts in Benghazi, Libya, in which four Americans were killed, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. and his attorneys are poised to handle one of the most important American terrorism cases in recent memory. Abu Khattala, who is being interrogated aboard a U.S. warship, is expected to

BAGHDAD — Carrying assault rifles, homemade rocket launchers and missiles, row after row of men in combat fatigues marched through the streets of Baghdad on Saturday, signaling the resurgence of one of Iraq’s most feared Shiite militias. Tens of thousands of fighters loyal to the firebrand cleric Moqtada al-Sadr packed the streets of Sadr City, the Shiite neighborhood in the capital named after his father. Other rallies were held in cities to the south. The marches effectively signaled a return to arms for the Mahdi Army, the powerful militia led by Sadr that once spearheaded an armed campaign against U.S.

The Obama administration toughened its border policies Friday, hoping to stem a surge of women and children into the United States by sending a stronger message that unauthorized migrants will be turned away. The steps, aimed at those entering from Mexico, include adding more immigration judges to process a backlog of asylum claims and to more quickly deport adults whose cases are rejected. New detention facilities are also being opened for families awaiting hearings, and ankle monitoring bracelets will be used to keep tabs on them, officials said. The moves mark a recognition by the administration that the unexpected influx

BAGHDAD — In a darkened living room in the Shiite neighborhood of Sadr City, a gray-haired militia commander picked up his phone Friday to read a text message from one of his colleagues on the battlefield. “Captured six ISIS members in an ambush,” it said, referring to militants from Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, an al-Qaeda splinter group whose advance over the past 10 days has nearly brought the Iraqi state to its knees. “At dawn I killed two, four I gave to the army.” The message was an example of what members of Iraq’s Shiite militias describe as

What philosopher Harvey Mansfield calls “taming the prince” — making executive power compatible with democracy’s abhorrence of arbitrary power — has been a perennial problem of modern politics. It is now more urgent in the United States than at any time since the Founders, having rebelled against George III’s unfettered exercise of “royal prerogative,” stipulated that presidents “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” Serious as are the policy disagreements roiling Washington, none is as important as the structural distortion threatening constitutional equilibrium. Institutional derangement driven by unchecked presidential aggrandizement did not begin with Barack Obama, but his

Fairfax Media understands that the group of Australian Defence Force personnel will primarily liaise with the US military, which recently sent about 250 of its troops to guard its embassy in the city. If the Australian embassy experiences an immediate threat, its staff would likely be moved to the much larger US compound for safety. The arrogance by the IRS commissioner, as well as the Obama administration, following the agency’s revelation that it deleted e-mails central to the investigations of its alleged targeting of conservative groups is “what’s really rankling people,” Charles Krauthammer said on Friday’s Special Report. Putting aside the validity of whether the emails are totally erased, Krauthammer said the commissioner could at least acknowledge the frustrations caused by their absence, but instead defiantly claimed the agency had nothing to apologize for during a recent congressional hearing. Instead, the administration has played an “adversarial game”

For much of his presidency, President Obama has benefited from an overprotective news media that keeps looking the other way and won´t confront him. Can you say Benghazi or the IRS? Also, the Obama White House has used the "let´s show outrage, do nothing, and hope that people will forget" approach to difficult problems. Can you say "Fast & Furious" or the awful ObamaCare roll out. He can´t pull that off in Iraq. First, he does not control events, especially now that Baghdad is next. Yes, it is true that there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq when George W. Bush took office. But it is equally true that there was essentially no al-Qaeda in Iraq remaining when Barack Obama took office. Which makes Bush responsible for the terrible costs incurred to defeat the 2003-09 jihadist war engendered by his invasion. We can debate forever whether those costs were worth it, but what is not debatable is Obama’s responsibility for the return of the Islamist insurgency that had been routed by the time he became president. By 2009, al-Qaeda in Iraq had not just been decimated

The Obama administration’s claim to have been surprised by the wave of children flooding over out borders may turn out to be another political lie of the year. Sundance of Conservative Treehouse noticed a very peculiar advertisement: On January 29th of this year, the federal government posted an advertisement seeking bids for a vendor contract to handle “Unaccompanied Alien Children“. Not just any contract mind you, but a very specific contract – for a very specific number of unaccompanied minors: 65,000. • Why would DHS and ICE be claiming “surprise” by the current influx of unaccompanied minors on the border
