Dinesh D´Souza, a once-promising conservative author and filmmaker, pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to charges that he funneled $20,000 to a former college classmate´s U.S. Senate campaign, using his girlfriend and another person as pass-throughs. The girlfriend, Denise Joseph, cost D´Souza his job as president of a New York City Christian college in 2012, after he was found to be carrying on an affair with her while they were both married to other people. The 53-year-old author of ´The Roots of Obama´s Rage´ and the filmmaker behind the popular documentary ´2016: Obama´s America,´ he admitted to Federal Judge Richard

We could talk all day about Harry Reid funneling money to his granddaughter, sweetheart deals for the Reid and Biden kids, Maxine Waters´ bank, Diane Feinstein, et. al., ad nauseum, and go on for hours and back decades. What´s the use.

The foolish and illegal actions he choose to do have absolutely nothing to do with his film and the fact that obama is leading America down a pathway to hell. This info will be used against him which is a shame.

It´s unfortunate that Obama can get away with tens of millions of dollars of illegal contributions, but I can´t understand how D´Souze could be so dumb. It doesn´t matter that they singled him out; it´s a clear violation of the law. It´s not even a technical violation.

Having said that, I hope the judge is lenient and look forward to seeing his next film.

It is hard to say what really led to this.

There is no doubt of technical guilt; he funnelled the money. There is some doubt he thought the law against it was valid.

By pleading guilty he keeps several people from testifying. They would naturally want to save themselves and that might affect their testimony and friendships.

Disappointing. But one does have to consider things beyond the initial facts: well known writer, makes anti-Obama movie, becomes embroiled in basic money laundering to hide funding sources.

In Washington it´s fool hearty to take what´s obvious as being truth - like Roberts coming to the landmark decision on Obamacare.

Some things don´t track and are counter-intuitive.

Recycling is authoritarian, demeaning and an unutterable waste of time, energy and money. No surprise, then, that the European Union is planning to force its vassal states to do much, much more of it. Last week, the European Commission proposed its most draconian waste disposal legislation yet: a plan requiring 70 percent of all municipal waste and 80 percent of packaging waste to be recycled by 2030; a total ban of the landfill of recyclable waste by 2025, aiming "to virtually eliminate landfill" by 2030. As even the Guardian quietly concedes, this is an impossible ambition:

A Taliban bomb attack on the outskirts of Kabul set ablaze 200 fuel trucks that the militants claimed were supplying foreign troops in Afghanistan, officials said. The tankers were set on fire as they sat in a parking lot waiting to enter the Afghan capital, which is currently gripped by a fraud dispute over presidential elections in June. Taliban insurgents fighting a 13-year-war against US-led forces in Afghanistan often attack western supply convoys and claimed responsibility for the late Friday night attack. Television footage showed black smoke billowing above the site of the attack, with the charred wreckage of dozens of trucks

Pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine have fled their eastern stronghold of Sloviansk amid an offensive by the military, rebel sources say. President Petro Poroshenko has ordered the military to hoist the Ukrainian flag over the city council building. Sloviansk´s rebel mayor said fighters had left, with reports saying they had headed towards the town of Kramatorsk. Ukrainian forces launched an offensive against the separatists this week after a 10-day ceasefire broke down. The BBC´s David Stern in Kiev says the military´s capture of Sloviansk - where the eastern insurgency began in April - will be a major victory for the government.

President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce.
