The Scandal at the VA Is Real,
and Obama Is Ducking It

Daily Beast, by Ron Christie

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 5/20/2014 9:03:39 AM

Up to now, President Obama and congressional Democrats had thought “so-called” scandals involving Benghazi, the IRS, and Operation Fast and Furious were largely behind them. Nothing to see, just Republican witch hunts designed to embarrass the president and perhaps land blows against Hillary Clinton. But recent revelations about shoddy care at Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities across the country has brought bipartisan condemnation from Capitol Hill that should worry a commander in chief whose reaction to the brewing tempest has been muted at best.

We can only hope that this scandal will be the one that brings down this presidency.

If it does, all those who died will have given the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of this great nation. They deserve the Purple Heart.

My sympathies to all of the families impacted by this travesty.

Wow, two articles in a row from leftist sites claiming that the VA scandal is the first "real scandal" for zippy. Can you say WH talking points?

#1 is exactly right - BIG diversion, most likely being pushed because of the fearless Trey Gowdy.

What did people expect?
Obama had never been a manager of even a couple of people.
Ego maniacs think they get in charge and everyone simply does their bidding.
A good manager know this is not the case.
To manage you must get everyone on board with your desires, or make them afraid for their jobs.
Believe it or not the latter is the most effective.
Obama thought he was so smart that he could give a few orders and everything would be done just like he desired.
He surrounded himself with incompetent wacko liberals and this is what we get.
They think we can run the most successful country in history with unicorn urine, pixie dust and liberal dogma.

What a load! Everyone knows that this is just another distraction from the real work the American people want him to get done. I mean, hell all of this happened just a few months ago. That´s like 100 years in Washington, D.C. time. Besides, what difference does it make now. The important thing is that we move forward! The people expect problems to be solved, and I´m sure he will not rest, working 24/7, until this problem is solved. In fact, I´m sure there will be a blue ribbon panel assembled to investigate the problems and recommend solutions. All he´ll need is congress to act.

The arrogance of this administration is breathtaking; it is also a gross insult to all True Americans. Mr. Barack H. Obama, please know this - Fast and Furious, Benghazi, IRS, and now the VA - these are NOT pseudo-scandals. They are scandals of huge proportions in which people died - doesn´t that mean anything to this administration?

This listing of scandals is only a start. Someone needs to look into government contract letting, among many others. The whole government is corrupt top to bottom.

The fact that D´RATs poo poo Benghazi, IRS, and Fast and Furious is the reason none should get our votes in November. They don´t care about the country or the people, but only about their wealth, corruption, and power.

Report: Polish minister

Associated Press, by Vanessa Gera    Original Article

Warsaw, Poland — A Polish magazine said Sunday it has obtained recordings of a conversation in which Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski says the country´s strong alliance with the U.S. "isn´t worth anything" and is "even harmful because it creates a false sense of security." In a short transcript of the conversation, a person identified as Sikorski by the magazine Wprost tells former finance minister, Jacek Rostowski, that Poles naively believe the U.S. bolsters their security. Using vulgar language, the person argues that such beliefs are nonsense, and that the Polish-U.S. alliance alienates the Russians and Germans.

At the end of the Civil War, but before the pernicious reach of Jim Crow undermined the Union Army’s battlefield victory, former slaves and free blacks found themselves in possession of a most precious right -- the right to vote. It didn’t matter if a man had been a war hero in the famed, all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment or a house servant in a Southern plantation. All that mattered was that he was a man. To say that this development didn’t sit well with the progressive-minded women of this country is an understatement. Before the war, the abolitionist movement and

President Barack Obama’s job approval seems to be slipping again. After a brutal couple of months following the failed launch of HealthCare.gov, the Real Clear Politics average of opinion polls found his approval at 40 percent in December. But the government claimed to have fixed HealthCare.gov, never mind the continuing problems, and the “surge” in enrollments gave him a further boost. By mid-April, he was back up to nearly 45 percent approval in the RCP average. Recently, though, his numbers have tumbled again, and today his job approval is just 42 percent. The likely driver of this decline is the onslaught

The anniversary of the Watergate burglary arrived this week, along with the disquieting revelation that it’s not just disgraced former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner who’s taking the Fifth. Her email is clamming up, too. More than a year into the controversy over the tax agency’s targeting of conservative non-profit groups, IRS officials casually told congressional investigators last week that a 2011 computer crash caused thousands of sought-after Lerner emails to disappear. So, can the mess at the IRS now objectively be called an Obama administration scandal? Hillary Clinton seemed to acknowledge as much. “I think that anytime the IRS is involved,”

Of all the things to rise up and bedevil President Obama again, Iraq seemed to be low on the list. But now the White House must live with the reality that, almost three years after the war was declared over, American blood could be spilled anew in a conflict that could readily escalate. Obama´s announcement that up to 300 military advisers would be sent to Iraq marks a brutal moment in a brutal stretch for this presidency, one that threatens to indelibly stain not only his foreign policy record but his legacy as well. Oh dear, someone called former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton "feisty" and now ThinkProgress is out crying sexism. CNN host Christiane Amanpour – a woman, if you didn’t know – said that Clinton "got quite feisty" during her interview Tuesday with Diane Sawyer – another woman (just making that absolutely clear). Wolf Blitzer – who is not a woman – agreed, and also said the word "feisty." There is such a thing as overexposure in politics, but not in book sales, which is why Hillary Clinton´s self-described "radical-candor" tour for her second memoir, "Hard Choices," has done more to sell books than expand the size of her formidable "Ready for Hillary" base. An NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released this week found Americans divided about a woman they´ve known as a national figure since 1992: 38 percent of registered voters said they would "definitely" or almost certainly vote for Clinton if she´s a candidate for president in 2016, while 37 percent said they´d oppose her no matter what.

"Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States," the resolution reads. Outwardly, they put on a show of unity — but privately, the Obamas and Clintons, the two power couples of the Democrat Party, loathe each other. “I hate that man Obama more than any man I’ve ever met, more than any man who ever lived,” Bill Clinton said to friends on one occasion, adding he would never forgive Obama for suggesting he was a racist during the 2008 campaign. The feeling is mutual. Obama made excuses not to talk to Bill, while the first lady privately sniped about Hillary. On most evenings, Michelle Obama and her trusted adviser, Valerie Jarrett, met in a quiet corner of the White House residence.

The decision this past week by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to rescind federal trademark protections for the Redskins may ultimately tip the balance in the controversy over the 80-year-old name of Washington’s football team. If so, that would be a shame. Not because there’s insufficient reason to consider the name “disparaging to Native Americans,” as the patent office determined. Many of us recoil at the reference to skin color as a team identity. The problem is that the Redskins case is just the latest example of a federal agency going beyond its brief to inappropriately insert itself in
