Missing Timber Cove dog found
near bottom of oceanside cliff

TIMBER COVE - One could hardly blame Ray Frost for breaking down when he was reunited with his dog, Mike, a few days ago. Frost and most of his family had given up hope of seeing their beloved shepherd mix ever again after he disappeared seven weeks ago. So when two fishermen at the bottom of a cliff stumbled upon an emaciated dog Thursday night with just enough energy left to nab one of their fish, it was as if a miracle had befallen Frost, his wife and their three grieving daughters.

Loved the story. I know exactly where this is because my husband and I vacationed at Timber Cove last year. Sheer cliffs everywhere.

LONDON -- Artist Tracey Emin has sold her bed - and the disheveled sheets, empty vodka bottles, cigarette butts and discarded condoms were part of the lucrative deal. Emin´s artwork "My Bed" sold for 2.54 million pounds ($4.4 million) at a London auction Tuesday, more than double the pre-sale estimate and four times the previous record for the artist. Emin, who has mined her tumultuous personal life for some of her best-known works, attended the auction and grinned when the hammer came down. The work was sold by collector Charles Saatchi, an early supporter of Emin and other modern British artists.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – This weekend´s Catfish Derby reeled in record attendance and showcased the big fish in Clear Lake´s waters. The Clearlake Oaks-Glenhaven Business Association´s derby, which has been taking place for more than 30 years, is billed as the largest catfish tournament west of the Mississippi. “We had another record turnout this year, with 741 adults and 117 kids entered,” said Dennis Locke, one of the dedicated volunteers who run the derby each year. The National Science Foundation (NSF) reported in its General Social Survey (GSS) that unprecedented numbers of Americans are lonely. Published in the American Sociological Review (ASR) and authored by Miller McPhearson, Lynn Smith-Lovin, and Matthew Brashears, sociologists at Duke and the University of Arizona, the study featured 1,500 face-to-face interviews where more than a quarter of the respondents — one in four — said that they have no one with whom they can talk about their personal troubles or triumphs.

Christa Liedtke, 75, decided to sell the half-timbered house near Cologne three years ago, after she began to find the steep stairs too much to handle. She fell in love with the house in 2005 and poured thousands of euros into renovating it. "As soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one," she said. “In 2011 I wanted to sell it, with a heavy heart, and that’s when this all started.” Local authority officials told her she had to pull it down because there was no planning permission to build the house in the first place.

A jury ruled Sonoma County Supervisor Efren Carrillo was not guilty of attempting to peek into a neighbor´s home. The decision came shortly after the panel could not reach a unanimous verdict on whether Carrillo actually looked into her apartment. Judge Gary Medvigy then ruled the jury could consider the lesser charge of attempted peeking without deciding the more serious charge of peeking. Defense attorney Chris Andrian objected to the decision, arguing the original count should be dismissed before the jury could consider any new charges. After the verdict, Carrillo said he would "like to move on and put this behind

Lake County, Calif. – A young man who grew up in Lake County and faced a deportation battle last year celebrated becoming a United States citizen on Friday. Carlos Solorzano took the oath of citizenship in US District Court in Anchorage, Alaska. Solorzano´s immigration attorney, Margaret Stock, described his mood as “ecstatic.” That important milestone, Solorzano told Lake County News on Friday afternoon, came “after a long and pretty tough fight.” Aiding him in that fight was Stock. A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution.

A crowd of 300 angry protestors forced three buses carrying 140 undocumented migrant children and their parents to turn around in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday after they blocked the road. The dramatic confrontation between the flag waving protestors and the Homeland Security buses came one day after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to resist the federal government´s plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border. Holding up banners that said ´Return to Sender´ and suggesting the children should be sent to the White House instead, the irate protestors succeeded when the buses

This past week, Fox News, Megyn Kelly, and Dinesh D’Souza gave a platform to an entity that hates America and our way of life. Seems the prospect of smokin’ out a snake like Bill Ayers was too good to pass up. Getting an exclusive one-on-one with a crazy, violent communist with a small c was quite a coup for Kelly and D’Souza...or was it? Since lying and deceit generally benefit the liar, we have to ask, ”What was in it for Bill Ayers?” A mea culpa for past crimes? Hardly. After listening to Ayers, we must conclude: once a psychopath, always a psychopath.

President Obama’s displeasure with gridlock in Washington — and with the Republicans he blames for it — has been rising for months. This week it has boiled over. From the Rose Garden to the Cabinet Room to near the Key Bridge in Georgetown, the president has signaled more than mere annoyance at the state of affairs at the halfway point of this year. His disdain for congressional Republicans has steadily increased; his disrespect for their tactics has hardened into contempt. With immigration reform dead for this year, if not for the remainder of Obama’s presidency; with House Speaker John A.

Higher education is no longer just for kids in the top quarter or the top half of the class. College is for everyone," First lady Michelle Obama told a gathering of school counselors in Florida on Tuesday. "Every student in this country needs some higher education, whether that´s two-year degree, a four-year degree, or professional training of some sort." Mrs. Obama went to the annual meeting of the American School Counselor Association in Florida to thank counselors for taking on a demanding job without the resources necessary to meet the challenges. They, in turn, made her an honorary school counselor.

Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Barack Obama, has a unique item of herself in her office: a photo of herself with three figurines bowing down in worship in front of it. The photo drew attention after Jarrett´s "Meet the Press" interview Sunday — and Jarrett posted a tweet Tuesday afternoon assuring her supporters the display was simply a novelty item. "Don´t worry friends, it was a gag gift," Jarrett wrote, pivoting to some White House messaging about the economy. "Us strong women don´t need worship," she continued, "just an economy for the 21st century. #WomenSucceed." Business Insider directly

The White House is not planning to reassess its strategy for handling thousands of unaccompanied minors streaming across the border amid mass protests. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said he had not spoken to President Obama about protests in California that blocked buses full of immigrant detainees from reaching a processing station. But Earnest said there was no expectation of changing strategies to deal with the flood of minors "at this point.” "At this point, what we´re focused on is making sure that we can ramp up the resources that are necessary to meet this growing need," Earnest said. The threat of them was an infuriating and exhilarating specter throughout the weekend, a symbol of the oppression facing the men’s rights activists who had gathered to meet for their inaugural conference. The Obama administration is not too concerned about possible Republican responses to its unilateral administrative actions on immigration. “What that they might sue?” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said laughing when asked Tuesday about possible Republican retaliation for the executive action. “They announced they were doing that last week,” he continued. “So, the prospect that Republicans might do even more to try to obstruct the president’s agenda I think is a little far-fetched. Education: As we predicted, the Obama regime´s anti-suspension policy is backfiring. Los Angeles teachers complain unsuspended violent kids are intimidating them and effectively ruling their classrooms. In 2011, the Education Department accused the Los Angeles Unified School District of discriminating against black boys, who were suspended for bad behavior at a disproportionate rate. The agency ordered it to reduce suspensions in the hopes that unruly minority students would stay in school and graduate. "The district shall develop and implement a comprehensive plan to eliminate the disproportionality in the discipline imposed on African-American students," the five-page decree says.
