Michigan meat processing plant has recalled 1.8 million lbs of ground beef for possible contamination with the E.coli bacteria, the U.S. Department of Agriculture´s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced on Monday. USDA said Wolverine Packing Co in Detroit is recalling the 1.8 million lbs of ground beef products produced between March 31 and April 18 after FSIS was notified of a case of E.coli 0157:H7 illness on May 12. FSIS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention traced the case to the Wolverine Packing Company. right after Pink Slime, I dug out the Cuisinart and started grinding our beef. I buy pot roast or similar meat (when on sale). Freeze one for a traditional pot roast and cut the other(s) into stew meat and grind for hamburger.

I have to admit, the beef "sales" are fewer and farther between these days...

Marine Stuns the Crowd with
4th Verse of Star Spangled Banner
Lyrics Most Americans Have Never Heard

In this classic video, a Marine with a powerful voice stunned a patriotic crowd in 2010 by singing the stirring fourth verse of The Star Spangled Banner, which many Americans have never heard. A look at Francis Scott Key’s soaring lyrics, first written in 1814 and made our national anthem in 1931, shows it is not just a pleasant ode to our flag that can be sung at sporting events and on the Fourth of July, but is a vision for the United States. Here are the full lyrics: Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light~What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

For Flag Day yesterday, individuals and organizations across America commemorated in various ways. However, almost all of them included some sort of image of the U.S. flag. Take a look at what the RNC tweeted: (Photograph) Pretty cool, right? Now, compare that to the DNC’s Flag Day tweet: (Photograph) Cute kid, but that is NOT the American flag. Rather, it is patriotic-themed fabric. Maybe they just didn’t have time to be bothered with it? With such careless attention to detail, imagine how scary it would be if these guys were entrusted with something big, like cleaning up the V.A. or

A rising tide of violence in Iraq is driving up prices at the pump. The hike in gas costs follows the battlefield successes of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an al Qaeda breakaway group backed by Sunni fighters and other groups, in northern Iraq. The cost of crude rose Friday afternoon to nearly $107, a 10-month high, amid fears that the mounting insurgency there could lead to major disruptions of oil shipments. Brent crude futures, an international benchmark, climbed 54 cents to $112.96. [CBS News will be covering the latest developments extensively tonight on the "CBS Evening

Mitt Romney: Obama, Clinton

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday blasted the Obama administration for repeatedly failing to properly assess and respond to foreign threats. In an interview on Meet the Press, Romney said that most of the blame for the crisis in Iraq lies with the Iraqi government. Yet the administration, he claimed, was also at fault because it underestimated the gravity of the situation and didn´t take stronger preemptive measures to head it off. "This administration, from Secretary Clinton to President Obama, has repeatedly underestimated the threats that are faced by America, has repeatedly underestimated our adversaries," he said.

If the questionable legal charges levied against Dinesh D’Souza by Obama’s Justice Department for exceeding campaign finance laws were to quiet his criticism of the President, it is not working. Yet, one gathers from D’Souza that he sees these charges as one more of the shameless ways this President is using the instruments of the state to attack his critics. With a new book, “America: Imagine a World Without Her” and a movie, “America,” coming on July 2, D’Souza is a man with a message and he is on fire. His movie “2016” brought in 8 million viewers. With just over a month to go until his first birthday, Prince George made a bid for freedom during a day out at the polo with his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge. Dressed in a smart pair of pink dungarees and a neat white polo shirt, the little prince wriggled in his mother´s arms until she put him down, whereupon he attempted to crawl away from her - and into the path of a polo pony - before swiftly being picked up again. READING, Pa.- In August 2008, factory workers David and Barbara Ludwig treated themselves to new cars — David a Dodge pickup, Barbara a sporty Mazda 3. With David making $22 an hour and Barbara $19, they could easily afford the payments. A month later, Baldwin Hardware, a unit of Stanley Black & Decker Corp., announced layoffs at the Reading plant where they both worked. David was unemployed for 20 months before finding a janitor job that paid $10 an hour, less than half his previous wage. Barbara hung on, but she, too, lost her shipping-dock job of 26 years as

He is currently fighting for his life at Kings County Hospital, along with his pal who was stabbed in the chest. A third man was stabbed in

Zach Johnson is 7 over through his first 63 holes of the tournament but he might have just had the non-knickers moment of the 2014 US Open with this ace. The celebration was my favorite part. I thought he was going to lay somebody out but he gave a high five to everybody on the 9th hole, instead. Strangely, Kenny Perry was playing with Johnson. Why is that strange? Because Perry was playing with Peter Jacobsen in 2005 when he made an ace in the third round of the US Open on the same hole.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – It´s perhaps appropriate that President Barack Obama is vacationing this weekend in California, where the state flag features a roaming grizzly. The restless president, who has compared himself to a caged animal on recent wanderings by declaring the "bear is loose," took a long Father´s Day weekend away with his wife and older daughter. The visit to the desert resort area of Palm Springs is one of the ways Obama has been trying to escape during his sixth year cloistered in the White House. ISIS, the brutal insurgent/terrorist group formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, has seized much of western and northern Iraq and even threatens towns not far from Baghdad. From where did ISIS spring? One of George W. Bush´s most toxic legacies is the introduction of al Qaeda into Iraq, which is the ISIS mother ship. If this wasn´t so tragic it would be supremely ironic, because before the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, top Bush officials were insisting that there was an al Qaeda-Iraq axis of evil. Their claims that Saddam Hussein´s men were training members of al Qaeda how to
