FARMINGTON, N.M. – Flags will fly at half-staff across the Navajo Reservation this week in honor of Code Talker Tom Jones Jr. The Navajo Nation said Jones died Monday at a Farmington hospital after a battle with pneumonia and other medical conditions. He was 89. Jones served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 through 1945. He was a messenger for Code Talker platoons based at Camp Pendleton in California. His family remembered him as a private, simple and caring man. He is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday morning

My father, an Iwo Corpsman, lived to be 83 because of the code talkers.

He got to thank Carl Gorman (who was not at Iwo, but was wounded on Saipan) for his service.

The most incredible thing the code talked did after the war was to keep the secret - and they did, in case the military needed it again, until the 1960´s.

I feel certain this dear soul received his medical care at a Tribal facility, not the VA, otherwise, he would never have lived such a long life.

Godspeed, sir, and may the Lord make His light to shine upon your loved ones.

The story of the Code Talkers is one of the most fascinating of the War. RIP, Mr. Jones. Your nation is grateful for your contribution.

Thank you Tom Jones Jr for your service.

Its too bad Elizabeth Warren didn´t choose to be a fake Navaho. She could have claimed she was a code talker. She´s looks like she´s about the right age.

The Code Talkers were real heroes in WWII by confounding the Japanese with their passing information back and forth in their native language.

R.I.P. to Tom Jones, Jr and all the other Code Talkers who have passed on. You will live on in History (if the Liberals will shut up and get Common Core out of the way).

It has been interesting to talk with some of my elders through the years, and hear stories of times and things that happened in their lives. It would have been interesting to have heard stories from Mr. Tom Jones.

Thank God for him and his service to our country. May God bless and comfort his family.

Rest in peace.

Thank you Tom Jones and the other code talkers for your one of a kind service to this country.

A good president would show up at his funeral instead of playing golf.

George Orwell gave us a look at the operation of a totalitarian one-party state in 1984. This week Mozilla gave us a look at its nascent liberal variant. Recently appointed CEO Brandon Eich was officially made a nonperson. He was dispatched down the memory hole as the company announced that he has “step[ped] down from his role as CEO” as a result of his contribution of $1,000 to the passage of California’s Prop 8 six years ago. This is what the liberal variant of Newspeak sounds like: Mozilla believes both in equality and freedom of speech. Equality is necessary for meaningful

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

On July 16, comic character Archie Andrews, of Life With Archie, will die after being shot while protecting gay friend Kevin Keller. Keller is "Archie Comics´ first openly gay character." According to the Associated Press, Keller is "a married military veteran and newly elected senator who´s pushing for more gun control in Riverdale after his husband was involved in a shooting." Archie Comics´ publisher and co-CEO Jon Goldwater said the way in which Archie will die was carefully chosen. While he could have been killed saving "Betty" or saving "Veronica," doing so for Keller was something "that would really resonate

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks
