Based on my extensive 18-month investigation, it is my professional conclusion that the Internet video known as Innocence of Muslims, the video allegedly responsible for Middle East violence and more importantly, the September 11, 2012 attack in Benghazi that resulted in the death of four Americans can be directly tied to a covert intelligence operation and operational assets of the U.S. Department of Justice. Additionally, the individuals and entities responsible for the Internet promotion of the video of that name can be traced not just to an intelligence operation contemporaneous to the attacks, but to previous events of historical significance and

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) encouraged graduates of the University of California Berkeley to be disruptors, using their knowledge and technology to shake up the economic system.“Being called a disruptor is a high compliment,” Pelosi said in prepared remarks Saturday. “You here at Berkeley are already disruptors in many ways.” Pelosi’s speech came nearly 50 years after students led by Mario Savio occupied a Berkeley building and launched the “free speech movement,” which sought to lift university bans on political activities. “Now, it’s all about you — what you can do with your freedom to speak out,

SOMA, Turkey — The death toll in the Turkish mine explosion rose to 299, with three more workers still believed trapped in the depths of the Soma mine, Turkey’s energy minister said Saturday in a televised statement. Further complicating the efforts to find the workers, a new fire broke out in a separate part of the mine Saturday when firefighters and rescue teams tried to put out the initial fire that caused most of the deaths, officials said. The new blaze along with methane gas leaks in several sections of the coal mine posed additional challenges to the rescue operation, Taner Yildiz,

CNN is reporting on its website this morning that the network terminated Marie-Louise Gumachian, a news editor based in its London bureau, for repeated instances of plagiarism. They found examples of foul play in about 50 published stories they investigated after they suspected something was awry during the editing process of a story.A bio on Muck Rack says she has worked as a reporter in Libya, East/West Africa, Italy, Ireland and Libya. “We’ve terminated Gumuchian’s employment with CNN, and have removed the instances of plagiarism found in her pieces. Diplomat reveals White House fury

When Norway awarded Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, just weeks into his presidency, it was seen not as a mark of his achievements, but as yet another symbol of the impossibly high expectations he had set for his tenure. Now, a senior Norwegian diplomat has revealed that, far from feeling honoured by the award, the White House was furious. Morten Wetland, the former Norwegian ambassador to the UN, claimed in an article for the business paper Dagens Næringsliv this week that, when the Prize was announced, Mr Obama’s then-chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel confronted and “dressed down” the

GOP activist Karl Rove is being accused of gutter politics in a response by Hillary Clinton’s reps after remarks last week, reported by Page Six, that the former secretary of state may have brain damage from a blood clot she suffered in 2012.“From the moment this happened 17 months ago, the right has politicized her death,” Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement. “First they accused her of faking it. Now they’ve resorted to the other extreme – and are flat-out lying … All he wants to do is inject the issue into the echo chamber, and he’s succeeding.” This comes in response to Rove’s comments at a conference in Los Angeles last

WASHINGTON — House Democrats on Sunday made it clear that they do not expect fair proceedings from the Republican-led panel newly tasked with investigating the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, but offered no definitive answer on whether they would appoint any of their own members to participate.Representative Xavier Becerra, a California Democrat, said members of his party would join the proceedings should Republicans — who have agitated for further investigation into the attack, which killed four Americans, including J. Christopher Stevens, the ambassador to Libya — agree not to block their full involvement. “We’ve always said that we’re ready to participate.

As Barack Obama enters the twilight of his tenure, the debate over his legacy is beginning, but one conclusion already seems certain. It can best be described as “Honey, I shrunk the presidency.” Not since Jimmy Carter was held hostage by Iran has the Oval Office seemed so inconsequential against the forces of international darkness. The mismatch is particularly striking because smallness has been Obama’s choice. Although he is guilty of executive overreach at home, that bully behavior only sharpens the contrast with a foreign policy that is feeble when it is not comatose. The president’s estrangement from the demands

Hillary Clinton isn’t a candidate for president, at least not yet. But this week felt like she was very much in the 2016 grind. One day, she was weighing in on gun control, Obamacare and social inequality. The next she was taking heat over Benghazi and facing questions about whether as Secretary of State she went too easy on the group behind the kidnap of Nigerian girls. Then there was Monica Lewinsky, reviving the scandals of 1998. It was arguably the roughest week Clinton has had since she left the State Department early last year, highlighting the tensions between the past and the future that will inevitably come to a head if she runs.

If this clip is any indication, Rep. Trey Gowdy won’t be letting the media off the hook for its silence on Benghazi: Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) turned the tables on the media and asked them questions about Benghazi . The silence was deafening. It seems like those in the room are a little embarrassed when Gowdy calls them out, and why shouldn’t they be? It is their responsibility to go after the hard questions – and when it comes to Benghazi, many asked nothing but fluff.

Attorney General Eric Holder said on Saturday while public utterances of bigotry are roundly condemned in the United States racial discrimination persists in more subtle ways. (Snip) He said the new battleground against discrimination should focus on policies and laws that appear race-neutral but in practice impede equal opportunity. "This is the work that truly matters - because policies that disenfranchise specific groups are more pernicious than hateful rants," Holder told the graduates at Morgan State, a historically black college. He cited disciplinary practices in schools that punish black males at three times the rate of their white peers. He
