Tokyo — Paul McCartney canceled his second concert in Tokyo on Sunday, as well as the makeup performance for the one nixed a day earlier, and apologized to his fans for still being sick with a virus. The former Beatle said on his "Out There Japan Tour 2014" site that he wanted to perform Sunday against doctors´ orders, but that his team wouldn´t allow it. "Unfortunately my condition has not improved overnight," he said. "I was really hoping that I´d be feeling better today. I´m so disappointed and sorry to be letting my fans down." McCartney, 71, got sick Friday,

Looks like all those years of booze and drugs plus his current vegetarian diet have taken a toll on Sir Paul.

I was a huge Beatles fan back in the day, but since McCartney´s gig in the zippy WH where he made nasty comments about Bush, you couldn´t pay me to attend one of his concerts, even with a front row seat and a back stage pass.

Time for old Paul McCartney to retire to the sheep farm and take Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Woods and Charlie Watts with him.

I don´t agree with his politics either but I´m calling dibs on #4´s seat and backstage pass should he receive it. I´m a huge fan of his musical genius during and after the Beatles. I´ve always been of the opinion that his talent matched, or possibly eclipsed, the sum of the other three band members .

McCartney is the most prolific singer songwriter of the 20th Century. Give the guy a break for goodness sakes! He´s 71 years old an is working harder than ever. People get sick from time to time. The man is a continent hopper, he spends a lot of time in airplanes, shaking hands and sleeping in hotel rooms. It´s a wonder he doesn´t get sick more often. Be happy he is around and has done what he has done. When he´s gone there is no replacing him. The world would be a much sadder place had he never existed.

I´m with #15. Since the Beatles´ first appearance on Ed Sullivan on February 9, 1964, I´ve been a die hard fan. Even my father who grew up on classical and Big Band music--and instilled in me a love for those genres--has said that there has been no cultural antecedent or successor to John, Paul George, and Ringo. The Beatles are truly sui generis, and their music will survive down through the generations. That includes their solo work.

In 1990 when Paul and his group came to Tampa´s Big Sombrero (the now demolished and replaced stadium for the Buccaneers) to perform, the place was totally sold out. Even around the corners. The only seats I could get had no view of the stage. (We depended on huge video screens.)

At the mid-point of the concert Paul said, "Now we´re going to take you back to a place called the ´Sixties." Then he played the most famous of the Beatles´ catalogue, starting with "I Saw Her Standing There." When he sang "Hey Jude," I looked behind and saw thousands of music fans weeping. Nobody sings that song like James Paul McCartney. After all, he wrote it. God bless Paul and his three mates. In popular music nobody ever topped what they did. And probably never will, at least in our lifetimes. Thanks again #15. A United States Marine veteran would understand, after all.

(I wish our friend Kevin aka capmarineTet68 were here to comment. God bless him, too.)

Watching the influx of unaccompanied minors crossing our southwestern border daily, a reasonable man could conclude that we are living out the fevered dreams of a dystopian novel. The United States has lost a basic aspect of sovereignty. Control over its borders is a relic of the past.Having traversed Mexico with the help of drug cartels freely operating human trafficking networks, Central American minors are voluntarily entering the United States through the Rio Grande Valley.
