Dr. Benjamin Carson is becoming a serious voice in the political arena. The Retired Head of Pediatric Neurosurgery at John Hopkins and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom may even be considering a run for the highest office in the land. In light of the Benghazi hearings and IRS scandal, Carson penned an editorial for the National Review, objectively pointing out why Obama is unfit for office. On Benghazi: “This should not be a partisan issue, because the implications of ignoring or prevaricating about the underlying mistakes will have far-reaching consequences. I finally had enough wit to turn the stinkin´ password manager OFF. Again, apologies.

I only wanted to say that I think Dr. Carson would be a fine representative of the United States as an ambassador to any prominent country.

Yeah, I know people are thinking of him for Health and Human Services....but he has more talent than that post requires.

I have reservations about him as President...no Congressional/governing experience...essentially not used to the political game. Maybe after he´s been in the arena for a few years....acquired some battle scars...

He´s too nice --and he wants gun control, which translates to weapons confiscation. It´s never about control, it´s always about confiscation, and Dr. Carson is all for it.

That disqualifies him as far as I´m concerned.

Uppity Negroes, ungrateful for the beneficent compassion shown them if they remain as thought-slaves on the Democrat plantation, should not slash the rule of Dear Leader Barack Hussein with facts, reason and common sense. This makes the Democrat plantation owners, especially the mulatto ones, very nervous. Everyone knows the only happy Negro is the Negro who needs the beneficent compassion of a Democrat master. Get back in line, doctor. Nice surgery practice you´ve got there - wouldn´t want anything to happen to it, would you?

It is very often we hear that Dr. Carson is "too nice" to be President. How sad (but true) that our country has come to that. How I would love to have a nice President. After 8 years of Obama, I´m afraid our country will be so divided and damaged that no nice person will ever again want to consider being President.

It will be interesting to see if he´ll run for president. It will be more interesting to see what those that voted for Obama do. Will they vote against him because of his politics or because he´s black? When they say politics can we call them liars, that we know it´s not politics but that they´re racists. It´s what´s been done to us for the past 6 years, but with the shoe on the other foot? Interesting indeed!

I wish that all those who think that Dr. Carson is not ready for the Presidency, because he´s never held political office, would create lists of all those candidates they think would fit their eligibility requirements (they have to be living and currently holding office). They could list them under the column headings: Good - Better - Best.

I would be interested in learning the names of candidates they´d choose.

#14, I agree Dr Carson is not ready to be POTUS. This nation needs someone experienced in the public sector as well as private. Scott Walker or Rick Perry would turn around this country, if it´s possible to turn around. Either would make a great president. However, if Dr Carson is our nominee, he will have my full support.

Ron Reagan had no national experience and he did a great job.

Don´t mistake nice with firm and courageous.

I don´t want gun control - so that would be an issue. But the President cannot cause gun control, unless he has the support of Congress. Not an issue per se.

As for immigration - this is something that has to be addressed. It all starts with the border, the wall. Get the border under control and then address immigration.

How hard can it be? If the US wanted to stop illegal immigration, it would have been done years ago. Illegal immigration serves the Dims purposes. Therefore, nothing is being done about it.

Ben Carson could be the right person at the right time. Who else can the GOP put up that will beat the Hill?

I think Ben Carson is a huge asset now. For over 5 years the president and Holder with the help of the naacp have been grooming us to engage in a bloody war between the races. The dead giveaway is when naacp turned their back on Carson and honored Sharpton. Why are they rewarding Sharpton at this time? I feel in my heart that Ben is one person who can help defuse this situation. This has been allowed to go on far to long.

Great surgeons are not "too nice". They may be good, humble, and sincere. But "too nice", no. An strong sense of self is required to "to cut"...up that exponentially to cut on the brain...up that exponentially to cut on the child´s, maybe infant´s, brain. "Too nice" does not fall into that sense of self.

Also, Carson is 7th Day Adventist. I have worked in healthcare with many of this faith. Their faith is so strong, so sincere, so real that they may come across as "too nice". That´s not what it is.

While he may not be ready for the Presidency, Dr. Carson is providing an important example of an African American of great accomplishment who happens to not buy into the welfare state. Compared to the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons, Elijah Cummings, Eric Holders and, yes, even Barak Obamas he is a welcome voice granting permission to other African Americans to question the policies that have wreaked so much destruction upon their communities. The man is a national treasure.

I find it impossible that someone claims to support the constitution and not see that the 2nd Amendment means just what it says.
If someone runs as a Pubbie or Conservative and expresses that opinion now, what will we get if he were to win the WH?

Re #5. In truth, computers will be the downfall of human civilization :-)

Since Ben Carson has never held office, he has no record. We do not really know how he would govern. Some of his positions indicate he might be a moderate.

I would be looking for a conservative (both fiscal and social) with a proven track record before trying an unknown. I want a president that would institute economic policies that actually improve the US economy. I want a president whose foreign policy would favor the US. I want a president that would come down hard on government corruption.

Considering how few real conservatives are in government, he is still worth a look. He might still be better than alot of the field.

I admire Dr. Carson and I like most of his statements, but I don’t view him as POTUS material. He should be included in an administrative post, just not President. Sometimes I think we react with our own form of affirmative action when we get a conservative black person in the forefront. I do not care about a candidate’s skin color or gender, but I get the impression that many of us want to counter the rats with one of our own like a Carson or a Palin. I simply want the best person we have that will assemble a team with respect for the Constitution and We the People, someone who also believes in restrained government.

As to uniting us as a country, I fear that will take another 9/11 or bigger catastrophe that pushes the petty social grievances and victimizations to the back burner and highlights our shared interests. Something so big that it stirs our melting pot that made us a self-reliant superpower in the past. Short of that, we will remain a divided country of givers and takers.

Dr. Carson is a valuable American for all us, as a role model and the personification of what Dr. King was thinking of when he spoke of the content of one´s character.

When he said, in the article: "“This [Benghazi] should not be a partisan issue, because the implications of ignoring or prevaricating about the underlying mistakes will have far-reaching consequences" I immediately thought of these words from Obama:

“And the suggestion that anybody in (sic) my team, whether the secretary of state, our U.N. ambassador, anybody on my team would play politics or mislead when we’ve lost four of our own, governor, is offensive.” — Barack Obama, second debate, Oct. 16, 2012

Makes MLK´s contrast of skin color/character pretty salient, doesn´t it?

Before you disqualify Dr. Carson because of his stance on ´gun control´, here is what he actually said when he was asked if he thought people should be allowed to own semi-automatic weapons:

It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it.

That, to me, is not a statement supporting gun control. That is an expression of his feelings and opinion, given off the cuff during an interview. I would like to hear him speak further on the subject before I decide if he is anti-second amendment.

Dr. Carson is the flavor of the season. We do this every time a new and impressive name does and says things we like to hear. Herman Cain, Ross Perot, Donald Trump, etc. Ben Carson is a fine thinker and has the best ideas. But there are a lot of fine thinkers in our conservative world. Not many of them would have a chance at getting elected president or serving effectively if they were. Can´t we just appreciate him for what he articulates without handing him a crown?

According to refugee data from the U.S. Department of State, the federal government did not grant refugee protection to a single person from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador or Mexico in fiscal year 2013. Now, almost all of the unaccompanied children illegally crossing into the U.S. from Mexico are coming from those nations, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other congressional Democrats have described these illegal aliens as “refugees.” In the seven fiscal years from 2007 through 2013, a mere five Guatemalans and 25 Hondurans were granted refugee status in the United States. It’s one thing to take care of illegal immigrants who come to America and are under the age of 18 (before sending them back), and it’s another to burn through taxpayer money rolling out the red carpet. The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
