UPDATED: When did McDaniel

UPDATE: Noel Fritch, spokesman for the Chris McDaniel campaign, issued the following statement: "The McDaniel campaign found out about the break in when a local political blog posted about it at 11:40 p.m. last night. Senator McDaniel has denounced the break-in and called Senator Cochran to extend his condolences. It is unconscionable for the Cochran campaign and the liberal media to use the act of a sick individual to lob despicable accusations." The Clarion-Ledger has asked for clarification on the statement as to which blog reported that the arrest was connected to Rose Cochran or how the campaign knew the

If Jenny Beth Martin was pushing the issue of Cochran´s overseas travel with a female aide she´s a dope. Tea party candidates will win on the issues, not sleaze. McDaniel has conducted himself well from what I´ve read. Jenny Beth not so much.

The Tea Party is blamed for everything the Koch brothers aren´t blamed for, I guess Jenny Beth Martin knew blame would be coming and wanted to make clear there was no Tea Party association with the idiot that is accused in this case.

The left-wing online publication Vox finds the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the Hobby Lobby case to be part of a “deeper trend” in a nation that has made an “unprecedented” turn to a pro-life stance. Writing at Vox, Sarah Kliff notes that, since 2010, “states have moved aggressively to restrict access to abortion and taken new steps to defund family planning programs. Advocates on both sides of the issue describe the wave of changes as unprecedented.” Also affirming the success of the pro-life movement is Elizabeth Nash of the pro-choice Guttmacher Institute. “Abortion access has changed dramatically,” said Nash,

A "knit-in" was broken up in South Burlington on Wednesday, after five women who are unhappy with a Vermont Gas pipeline plan occupied the utility´s waiting room — and occupied themselves by knitting. One woman was bound off by police, taken away in what says were five squad cars that responded to perhaps the most civil of all disobediences. The knitters insisted on speaking to Vermont Gas officials about their complaints over a pipeline expansion. They were told they needed an appointment; after the utility´s headquarters closed, they were warned that they were trespassing. Jane Palmer, a diminutive woman in a

The substance "can be dangerous for human health if removed from its container," the officials said in a statement, adding that the material can be lethal even if handled for only a brief time. President Barack Obama is fond of describing the deep inequality afflicting American society. And then he goes off to play golf. He´s getting near the 200-round mark for his entire presidency, a sporting feat perhaps worthy of Teddy Roosevelt for its sheer audacity. Golf is the most unequal sport in America, demanding expensive fees or country club memberships. Yet if the president plays it so often, golf must be inherently patriotic--right? So, while visiting Chicago, in the Fourth of July spirit, I recovered an old set of clubs from my parents´ garage and headed to the local par three. My

Maybe we’ve been conned. There’s a growing recognition that Barack Obama is an incompetent poser, working out of his depth, and his administration is the gang that can’t shoot straight. There’s a lot of evidence to support that belief. President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. His "so sue me" speech last week is a classic illustration of the community organizer practicing Saul Alinsky´s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize

The headline of today’s jobs report, that 288,000 jobs were created in the last month, is positive. At least, it is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. However, as with most economic reports these days, there is a veneer of good news — but when you look closer, the White House is using the positive headlines to hide the growing deterioration of the American workforce. I’m sure by now people are tired of reading about the bad news, and I’ll admit I am weary of having to blow the whistle and expose the truth every
