VA official out over vet deaths scandal –
but is it more ´damage control´?

Fox News, by Staff

The Obama administration, battling to tamp down yet another scandal, announced the resignation Friday afternoon of a top Veterans Affairs official amid mounting questions over patient deaths possibly tied to delayed care. But as with prior controversies, the administration´s response, critics say, is not nearly aggressive enough. The official said to be resigning already was planning to retire. And once again, the president is being accused of relying on political allies to lead internal reviews, without directly firing anyone. The department initially placed a few officials on leave after reports emerged that up to 40 patients died waiting for care at a

Lying media -- again. The resignation comes from an official who was under fire last year and at that time said he was going to retire. So, the Obama administration still has done and is doing nothing to fix the VA mess!

U.S. intervention in Libya
now seen as cautionary tale
Los Angeles Times, by Paul Richter & Christi Parsons    Original Article
Posted By: earlybird- 6/28/2014 1:04:31 PM     Post Reply
A group of U.S. diplomats arrived in Libya three years ago to a memorable reception: a throng of cheering men and women who pressed in on the startled group "just to touch us and thank us," recalled Susan Rice, President Obama´s national security advisor. The Libyans were emotional because the U.S. and its allies had toppled leader Moammar Kadafi in a military campaign that averted a feared slaughter of Kadafi´s foes. Obama administration officials called the international effort, accomplished with no Western casualties, a "model intervention." But in three years Libya has turned into the kind of place U.S. officials

David Cameron compared himself to Margaret Thatcher on Friday and said he was fighting similar “battles” with the European Union. Mr Cameron evoked the memory of Baroness Thatcher’s fights with Brussels during the Eighties and said he had gone further than her by securing an EU budget cut last year. Despite those claims, he was mocked in Europe and compared to Rambo, Wayne Rooney and Don Quixote over his failure to stop the nomination of Jean-Claude Juncker. Mr Cameron said the EU was more difficult to reform than it was in Lady Thatcher’s time because a series of treaties have removed national vetoes.

High court strikes Massachusetts
abortion ´buffer zone´

The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously struck down a Massachusetts law that restricted speech outside abortion facilities, a decision that abortion-rights advocates decried as a threat to patient safety at clinics nationwide. The court said the state law violated the First Amendment because its “buffer zone” limited speech too broadly, covering 35 feet from the doorway of facilities and including public areas like sidewalks. Although other buffer zones typically are smaller, specifying distances such as 8 feet or 15 feet from clinics, the advocates said the court’s decision puts them in jeopardy. “If you were a betting man, you would bet

Boffins are becoming increasingly hardline in their stance on the particle discovered in 2012 and lauded as the Higgs boson. They say it is, in fact, the Higgs boson and not something else.Researchers have discovered that the bosons decay into fermions, which are a group of particles that include ones like leptons and quarks. That’s a good thing because it’s exactly what the Standard Model of particle physics predicts the Higgs boson should do. “This is an enormous breakthrough,” said Markus Klute, an assistant professor of physics at MIT and leader of the international group of boffins. “Now we know

Comparisons between Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney have been greatly exaggerated, Hillary Clinton says. Clinton practically rolled with laughter when PBS’ Gwen Ifill noted humorlessly that her own husband has been “forced” to defend her recent comments about being “dead broke” after leaving the White House. What was humorous in that remarks is known only to Clinton. “I shouldn’t have said the, I think, five or so words that I said,” the former secretary of state said. “My inartful use of those five words doesn’t change who I am.” Later in the interview, Ifill asked if Clinton had become the Democratic adaptation of

Only 14% of Republicans, 23% of independents, and 27% of Democrats favor increased immigration. This included 50% of GOP voters, 43% of independents, and 32% of Democrats. The percentage of those preferring to decrease immigration has jumped from 35% in 2012 and 2013 to 41% in 2014. A shocking new report from the Center for Immigration Studies claims to prove that every single new job created in America for the last fourteen years has gone to immigrants, legal and illegal. This would fly in the face of those who claim that immigration is an economic boon to native born Americans: The CIS report found that over the last 14 years, people who were born in the United States held 114.8 million jobs in 2000, and held 114.7 million jobs in 2014, a drop of 127,000. Were Lois Lerner’s allegedly lost emails actually destroyed? An Ohio-based trade association, the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM), isn’t so sure, and they don’t find IRS commissioner Koskinen’s explanation of their loss very plausible. IAITAM administers internationally accepted certifications for information technology professionals. According to the group’s standards, if Lerner’s supposedly malfunctioning hardware was properly destroyed, there would be records of it. Dr. Barbara Rembiesa, president of IAITAM, questions whether there is documentation of the destruction of the files. Who performed the work, says Rembiesa, is important because not all IT professionals are IAITAM certified. “The notion

What transpired in the Mississippi Senate run-off is a red line for many conservatives across the country, because the Republican Party establishment essentially took a civil war and escalated it to a war for independence. It’s one thing to oppose your base in a primary. It’s entirely another to despicably play the race card against your base, and bolster the legitimacy of the propaganda of our race-baiting opponents on the Left. But that’s exactly what the Kamikaze pilots running the GOP did. As a result, Chris McDaniel won Republican voters handily on Tuesday, but still lost the run-off statewide thanks
